Brenda woke up feeling anxious. She couldn't stop thinking about the article that said she was Mr. Heart's girlfriend. She knew her coworkers would be talking about it.

At the office, Mr. Heart asked to see her. "I'm sorry about the article," he said. "I didn't mean to put you in this position."

Brenda raised an eyebrow. "Why did you tell your mother I was your girlfriend?" she asked.

Mr. Heart looked uncomfortable. "I don't know. It just came out. Now my mother wants to meet you."

Brenda's eyes widened. "Meet me? As your girlfriend?" she asked.

Mr. Heart nodded. "I know it's a lot to ask, but will you pretend to be my girlfriend for my mother's sake?" he asked.

Brenda thought about it. She didn't know what to do.

Meanwhile, her sister Belle read the article at home. She felt a little jealous, but hid it behind a smile.

When Brenda got home, Belle exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, Brenda! I'm so happy for you! You and Mr. Heart make a lovely couple!"

Brenda smiled. "Thanks, Belle. But it's not what you think. It's all just a big misunderstanding."

Later, Mr. Heart came to Brenda's apartment with a contract. "It's a marriage contract," he said. "We'll pretend to be in a relationship, and I'll take care of you and your sister."

Brenda read the contract and thought about it. Then she looked up at Mr. Heart. "Okay, I'll do it. But we need to set a date to meet your mother."

Mr. Heart smiled. "How about next Sunday?" he asked.

Brenda nodded. "Next Sunday it is."

As Mr. Heart left, Brenda wondered what she had just gotten herself into. She felt nervous and unsure, but she tried to push the feelings aside.

Brenda took a deep breath and tried to focus on the present. She had a lot to do before next Sunday.
