A/n: There is a spoiler of the movie La La land in this chapter so, if you didn't watch and want to watch it soon, I'll warn you when that part comes, but you can read if you like spoilers, lol.

Emma's POV

I look at Levi like I've just seen a ghost. This can't be happening, I wanted to pinch myself hoping that I would wake up and this was all just a bad dream, but I didn't. "Are you going to go take a seat here or what?" The teacher said clearing his throat.

I quickly pick up my bag and my books and walked over to Levi's desk and took a seat next to him. That's when I realized that the whole class was quiet and they were all staring at me. Girls were giving me nasty looks and evil glares.

Jez, it's not my fault that he picked a card and for some terrible reason, it was my name. I didn't like being the center of attention, I never have and never will. I look down and organized my books, praying that the teacher would start teaching or at least for the bell to ring so I could get out of this extremely uncomfortable and awkward situation.

"Ok class, you need to start this project right away. You and your partner will have until after the winter break to finish this assignment. Oh and each student will be graded individually, so you must work az a team, not one of you do all the work and both students get good grades, no you must both work together."Mr.Baron says as the bell rings.

There was this week and one more week till the winter break, and next week its just exams and no lessons.

I get up and put my copybook in my bag, I could feel Levi staring at me, and it's making me extremely uncomfortable. I carry my bag and turned around to face Levi.

You know when they say, face your fears? Definitely, the wrong time to face my fears of talking to some popular freak, but I turned around anyway. "Hey," I say, more confidently than I thought. "Hey nerd," he replied.

Exactly what I was expecting. Such a great way to great your freaking partner that you have to work with.

"I have a name you know, and I'm not a nerd, I'm just smart. There is a difference. Oh, and you better be nice because we apparently have to work together and I'm not planning on failing because of you- also what's wrong with being a nerd? "I rambled angrily. Since he gave me a bad first impression, I don't mind giving him a bad first impression as well.

"Whoa, I was just joking, but you're cute when you're mad," he says winking.

What the fuck? My cheeks feel like they are on fire. Oh great.

Thankfully, he waved and left the class. I sigh, looking around, a lot of girls still glaring at me, I'm getting a feeling I'm going to get a lot of threats like ' stay away from him' or 'don't touch him he is mine' or possibly both.

I rush out of class and went to my locker, Theo and Becky were there. "Hey guys," I say, greeting them while opening my locker. "Hey," they both say.

"Have you guys seen Brendon?"I ask. Theo and Becky shook their heads. I'm getting quite worried, did something bad happen?

Becky and I came back home from school and we sat in the kitchen eating while talking. I told Becky about Levi and she exploded.

We went to sit on the couch in the living room and then she started talking really fast about many things and I barely understood anything. I mean I'm quiet and a great listener, unless I'm deep in thoughts and worried about something, then I wouldn't be concentrating on what a person is saying.

"Emma! Are you even listening?" Becky asked, waving her hand in front of my face." yeah uh- yeah," I say, blinking rapidly. "No your not," Becky says crossing her arms. "Fine, I'm sorry I'm just worried about Brendon. He has been acting weird since that day when he almost kissed me, or maybe he wasn't even going to kiss me."I say, sitting up.

"Emma, please don't over think, Brendon was definitely going to kiss you and he is probably just annoyed that Theo interrupted, so don't think it's your fault," Becky says, knowing I'd go insane every time I'd overthink.

"Come on, let's go to the cinema, I heard there are great new movies," Becky says getting up.

I groan.

"No, I have to study and do my homework. Aren't you supposed to be studying for your test tomorrow?" I ask, trying to make as many excuses as I can, not to go.

Becky gives me that Don't-make-me-say-it-again look and points towards the stairs.

Becky grabs my wrist and pulls me off the couch. I sigh and dragged myself up the stairs and to my room and closed the door behind me.

I walk to my closet and took out a velvet hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and my vans.

I stuff my phone in my pocket and tied my hair up in a ponytail and then went downstairs to Becky.

"Ok, let's go," I said, grabbing my warm coat and house keys as Becky walked out the front door.

I slide into the passenger seat and I turn on the radio. The song Shape of you by Ed Sheeran came on, I barely knew the lyrics so I didn't sing along.

"So what movie do you want to watch?" I ask turning to Becky." Um, I don't know, I checked online and there was a few I thought we could watch," she said, stopping the car at the traffic light.

"Like there are a few I want to watch but they are horror and I know your not a big fan so what about La La land?"Becky suggested. "Sure I guess," I answered, shrugging, as the traffic light turns green.

We pull into the parking lot and walked to the cashier at the entrance of the cinema."Two tickets for La La land please." I say handing the man at the cashier.

The cashier takes the money and gives us two tickets then we went to the snacks area and bought a large Carmel popcorn and strawberry

smoothies.

The movie ended, and I was crying kind of. What kind of movie ending was that?!

The movie had such a happy beginning and the end was shit. The movie was terrible on so many levels.

One, the couple in the movie were super cute and they broke up, because of their career but they still loved each other.

Second, the girl married another man.

Third, they meet again after 5 years and she imagines everything that could have happened if she had married him and not her husband.

The ending was shitty as well. When she left the place she saw him, they just smiled at each other and then she left with her husband and then THE END.

On the way out of the theatre, I kept blabbing on how mad I was about the story's plot. I don't get it. They were just so perfect why did that have to happen?

"Wait, hey Becky could you drop me off at Brendon's house. I'll come back home with a cab." I say, still worried about like everything."Ya sure" Becky said as she heads towards Brendon's house.

I get out of the car, I gave her the keys before she left. I slowly walk towards the big front door and rang the bell.

The door opened and Brendon's brother Chase was there."Hey, pumpkin" he says opening the door wide enough for me to come in. "Hi," I say giving him an awkward smile.

I get in, and took my boots off."So um is Brendon home?"I ask. He nods and says" Yeah, probably up in his room." I thank him and started walking towards the stairs.

Wait.

"Hey, um which room is his room?" I ask, realizing I actually didn't know where it was,"At the end of the hallway upstairs," He informed me and walked away to the kitchen before I could thank him.

I shrug and slowly went up the stairs, I could feel my heartbeat getting faster as I walked up the stairs. I walk to the end of the hallway and knocked on the door.

No one answered.

I could hear something inside but no answer.

I knock again, and still no answer. I open the door and took a step inside.

My heart dropped as I saw what was happening inside.

I took a step back as Brendon noticed I was there.

"Emma wai-" he calls out, but it's too late.

I ran down the stairs and out of his house.
