Author's Note - The Girl and the Pirate

(This note was writen when the storry had been initially sumitted as an entry to the challenge n. 6)

This short story is my entry for the SCiFi competitions sixth challenge. The competitions are organized by ScienceFiction profile, and vary from drabble to short story, character file to tweet stories... Well, any aspect and form of writing Science Fiction.

In the sixth challenge, the objective was to write a short story of more than two pages but less than four. In term of Wattpad pages, this mean more than 1600 words and less than 3200, give or take. The prompt for the challenge was a picture from Europa, Jupiter's moon. The satellite had to be part of the story, no more specification provided on this part.

As part of my researches on Europa, the confirmation of liquid water present under the icy crust and extrapolation on the possibility of life existing there was interesting. Imagine a huge salty ocean under an ice made sky... And who says ocean, says Pirates :)

When the prompt for the challenge came in, I was already in the preparation phase for a story I wanted to try writing. I was inspired by satirical discussions about Religions. These are running for a long time now, but are still efficient at drawing discussion and reflection on beliefs and religions in general. Among these satyres you can find the Flying Spaghetti Monster and the Invisible Pink Unicorn.

The use of these pseudo-religions in my story has no objectives of being irrespectful to any believer of any existing religions. It is just for the purpose of entertainment, and the somehow smiling factor that always bring the thought of them to mind, that I insert them in my plot.
