Part 4: Susanne
Nate pulls up to the house and parks on the street so it isn't as weird.
"You sure you'll be alright going in by yourself?" he asks me quietly. I nod.
"I'll be fine, Nate." I smile back before heading inside.
I sneak into my room, grabbing my glasses and taking out my contact to slide on the glasses.
I blink a couple of times, getting used to the feeling, and then pack a bag really quickly with things I want to keep; one of which being a small stuffed animal I've had since I was a baby.
I start to head back outside, but almost scream when my 'mother' walks out of her room.
"Galaxy? Honey, why aren't you in bed? And why do you have a bag?" she asks, obviously showing concern.
"I was going out to the backyard. I wanted to see the stars, and the bag was the only way I could carry my blanket without it getting dragged through dirt." I answer without stuttering. I'm thankful I can convincingly lie.
"Alright. Be careful, and don't talk to anyone strange." she sighs before yawning and walking away.
I slip out the back door and then around to the front, waiting on her to go back into her room before I sprint to Nate's car.
"She'll know in the morning when I'm not in bed what I did, but it shouldn't be too bad." I sigh, buckling up.
"Alright." he sighs as well. "Let's get going. My house is on the other side of town, thank God, and I have a couple of friends nearby if you ever need to stay with someone else."
I nod, smiling at him. "Thank you so much, Nate." I whisper.
"No problem, Susanne. Try to get some sleep, I'll wake you up when we get there."
I let out a yawn and lean the seat back, falling asleep quickly.
~~~~~~~
"Susanne, wake up." I hear Nate whisper, shaking me.
I groan and sit up, rubbing my eye. "We home?" I ask.
He smiles and nods.
I get out and follow Nate inside, and he leads me to a bedroom.
"This is the guest room. My room's just down the hall if you need anything." he informs me. "Go ahead and get some sleep. We've got a bit of a busy day tomorrow."
I walk into the room without another word, putting down my bag and flopping onto the bed, taking my glasses off and putting them off to the side before falling asleep quickly.
~~~~~~~
"Nate, why didn't you tell me that your sister was going to be staying with us?!" I hear a girl yelling from outside the door.
"By the time we got home, it was close to midnight, Morgan. Calm down. You had already fallen asleep and there was no way I was going to just send her back to the people that kidnapped her." Nate replies calmly as I open my eyes and grab my glasses.
I slide them on and stand up, staying still for a moment before walking over to the door and opening it. "Next time you want to wake someone up, don't scream about them." I mumble, walking past the two and yawning after I finish my statement.
"Sorry Susanne." Nate apologizes. "Morgan, this is my sister Susanne. Susanne, this is my girlfriend Morgan."
"Nice to meet you Morgan." I smile a little, turning around to face her. "Sorry if I'm intruding, I just.... I didn't want to stay with those people, knowing I wasn't their kid."
She smiles back. "I'm sorry for waking you."
"No, you're fine. I'm just a bit grumpy before breakfast. Speaking of..... where's the kitchen?"
She turns to Nate and punches his shoulder, making him let out a very loud, "OW!!"
"You didn't give her a tour?!"
I laugh as Nate stammers through an excuse.
"It's not his fault. I was falling asleep on my feet." I giggle as Morgan walks over and leads me to the kitchen.
"Well, what would you like?" she asks, smiling at me.
