the dining hall
I woke up in my bed, Ethan was passed out in a chair next to me. I looked around and noticed Jackson was standing in the doorway smirking. "How long has he been her?" I asked him quietly. "All night." He whispered back. "Why are you here?" I asked Jackson as Ethan started to stir. Jackson put his hand to his mouth to signify me to be quiet. "Aubrey?" Ethan asked. I looked at him and nodded. "That's my name." I looked at Jackson who had started laughing. "Jackson!" Ethan yelled. Jackson started laughing harder and I joined in. "Boss wants you both at breakfast, now." Jackson told the both of us, laughing between words. I looked at Ethan, taking a couple deep breathes to calm down. "Who is Boss?" I asked him. "Hunter." Ethan said before helping me up.
When we got to the dining room, I froze. Their were these big tables full of food. The walls were lined with cabinets and paintings. Each table had a chandelier hanging over them. The plates were porcelain white with gold lining. The cups were clear filled with orang juice and water, were lined with gold and silver linings. The silverware were gold with engravings on the handles. The tables were long rectangles with black and white table clothes. The chairs matched the tables, the wood was black and cushion was white.
Ethan guided me to where everyone was sitting. I sat down next to Charlotte, Ethan sat down next to Jackson. Hunter was at the end of the table. Siena sat between Charlotte and Hunter. The maids brought out breakfast. Their was eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, pancakes, English muffins, bowls of yogurt and fruits.
As everyone was piling their plates, Hunter looked at me. "Sally." I looked up and nodded. "Your powers. You have no control over them." He told me, bluntly. "I am aware." I responded before taking a bite of eggs. "You need to learn that control before you hurt someone." Everyone minus Hunter, looked down. "Seriously you guys just met how are you all in sync." He sighed. "Um ..sir...most of us here have known each other for a few years...it's only Aubrey and Siena who don't really know anyone. And even those two have known each other for a few weeks." Ethan told him. "Still it should take everyone at least a few months if not years to be that in sync." Hunter told them.
Hunter got up out of his chair and looked at Aubrey. "Training room, 12 o'clock. Don't be late!" He said then left the room, plate untouched. "No one told me that Hunter was rich!" Charlotte shrieked. "You didn't ask." Ethan shrugged before taking a bite of his toast. "Aubrey, what happened yesterday? Why did you pass out?" Siena asked. "I..I lost control of my abilities, and it was too much." I told them, my eyes going blurry and the sounds cutting in and out.
Ethan was shaking my arm when I looked away from my plate. "Yeah?" I asked confused why everyone was looking at me. "You spaced out for a minute there, you okay?" He asked me. I nodded taking a drink of my orange juice. "You sure? You seemed kind of freaked out?" Charlotte asked. I nodded again looking at me plate, before taking a bite of bacon.
After I finished my food, I headed to the gym. "Hello?" I called out. When no answered I entered and headed to the bag. I wrapped my hands like Ethan showed me too during one of our training lessons in the woods. Once my hands were wrapped I started punching the bag. With each punch, I let out a cry, with each cry came another memory. I was in class when voices were in my head, I was 10. I was in gym class when I saw a red mist ooze from my hands, I was 12. I was in art class and drew a house that I moved into a year later, I was 13. And a year before all of this happened, I was at my desk, in my old bedroom drawing like usual, when I drew Ethan, I was 15.
I stopped punching the bag and gasped, "There is no way." I looked around and saw Ethan in the doorway. He looked at me with wide eyes, but his eyes didn't show fear, but understanding compassion, like he went through the same thing. "What all did you see?!" I asked in alarm. "Enough. I wish you told me you had these abilities." I looked away, tears building in my eyes. "You didn't know." He said walking closer. "Of course you didn't know, I've been in your head, I would of saw if you knew." He looked down. "You need to talk to Hunter, he will know what to do." Ethan said then left the gym. I looked at where Ethan once stood and fell. Tears running down my face and quiet sobs shook my body as I sat their shocked at what just happened.
"Hunter?" I asked entering his office. "Hi." He greeted, he was sitting in a black theater office chair in front of a large dark wooden table with folders and papers spread across it. "What is it you need to talk about?" He asked looking up from his work. "Ethan said I needed to talk to you about something." I said looking at the floor. "About what happened in the gym?" He guessed. "Well...yeah." I told him, looking at the door. "It was just basic training-" I cut him off. "Not yesterday, today." I took a deep breathe. "It's about what I... remembered." I told him looking at him. "Continue." He nodded. "I started manifesting my powers at the age of 10." He looked at me in shock. "10?!" I nodded, "It was in a classroom and I was hearing everyone's thoughts. Then before moving to Virginia and even meeting Ethan, I drew his face in my sketchbook." I told Hunter.
Hunter left the room after telling me to stay put, he seemed scared. When Hunter got back in the room he was being followed by Ethan and Jackson. "You know how Ethan's father told him he would meet someone who manifested years before him?" Hunter asked Jackson, he nodded looking at me in confusion. "Well, Aubrey, manifested at 10, 3 years before you, Ethan and 4 years before you, Jackson." Hunter told them. "What?!" Jackson yelled looking at me. "I saw it." Ethan spoke up. "I saw the picture you drew. You drew that picture when you were 15 I saw it 2 years before you even had the thought to do it." I looked at Ethan amazed. "So you predicted a picture I would draw and I predicted meeting you." I laughed at the irony. Hunter looked at his watch then gasped, "Its going on 1, we missed our training session, and it's currently lunch.. so." He told us, everyone headed back to the dinging hall for the second time today.
