Chapter 13: Preperations

"Before we leave, I want everyone to train to fight with weapons, just for the fact we all don't exactly know how to control our powers." Ash leads the group to the weapons specialists at a large long desk lined with a massive array of weapons, "pick a desk and choose your own weapons." Ash points down the row of desks.

Ash walks up to the desk several people later, "I really am not sure what I want, do you have any, uh special equipment on hand?"

The specialist's eyes light up, "actually I was waiting for the right person to give this to." She reaches down by her feet to pull up a blackened staff with strange stripy markings on it. Ash picks it up to study it, and then twirls it around in her fingers to feel the weight of it. Just right and it's just a little taller than I.

Ash clanks it down onto the ground creating a metallic sound. "is this made of meteorites?"

The girl smiles, "Indeed it is, I thought since meteorites travel through a mile of atmosphere and survive an impact faster than sound, it would be a good alloy to make something out of. It took me four years to gather just enough stones for that staff."

Ash bows her head respectfully at the girl, "I am very grateful to be given this. I will take care of it, I promise."

Pyrah watches at two people finally pick their weapons, she thought of what she wanted, a sword? Some laser pistols? That is what she saw the powers in front of her walk away with.

She glances over at Ash who was already walking away with some kind of black staff. She glances in her other direction at Sparks, who was trying on some kind of metal glove. "Ehem, you it's your turn!" the male specialist says at the desk beckoning her forward.

He drums the desk with his fingers, "do you know what you like-I mean what you would like?" Pyrah leans on the desk, "I really don't know what I want."

The specialist rattles off a list of common weapons according to her defender type. "What's your power?" Pyrah shrugs, "super-strength." The specialist's eyes light up, "superstrength huh? Well, just so happens I got the perfect thing for you." The Specialist opens a drawer and digs around in it for a moment, to pull out a strange kite shaped shield.

"This is a proto-type it's made of a something called NITINOL, a high-tension memory alloy comprised of nickel and titanium so if it gets dented just heat it up a little and it will spring back into it's original position." The specialist turns around, "go ahead, take it, it needs to be tested out on the battlefield anyway." Pyrah picks it up noticing how light weight it is, "Thank you, I will use it well." She walks away clutching her shield.

Blaze waits at the end of an incredibly long line; he tilts his head up to the sky in annoying boredom, "Why do I always get the slow lines?" He shrugs his shoulders, then weighs his options, teleport to the front and grab the first weapon he sees, or wait until he can choose his own.

Blaze decides he shall wait, wait to see how much longer he can stand in this line. He glances over both shoulders seeing none of his newfound friends in line.

After about ten minutes he makes it to the front of the line, he slams his hands down on the desk causing the weapons specialist to jump. "do you know how long I had to wait in line I felt like I was going to die." The Weapons specialist turns around with a scary looking masculine feminine face, "yeah, don't push it buddy what do you want?"

Blaze squints his eyebrows, "I want a sword?" The woman looks at him with an odd look, "A sword, you didn't sound too sure about that." Blaze rocks on his feet, "well I'm not sure what I want okay I don't know what crazy weapons the Defenders and Techies make!"

The woman rolls her eyes, "here take this, you should be able to use it easily." She fumbles down in a drawer by her feet and pulls out a small metal stick. "it's a retractable smart holo sword, I developed it myself." Blaze picks it up, activates it and studies its white semi-transparent glow. "How is it smart?" Blaze says mesmerized. "It calculates what the person's next move might be and sends a small electrical pulse to your brain causing you to have the upper hand. "Blaze smiles with a devilish grin. "thanks, scary lady!" He teleports away to the closest eatery.

Sparks doesn't head to the weapons counter, instead she heads to the area where her fellow techies would be. Where she finds everyone making all sorts of weapons, one had a morningstar that was magnetized. Sparks wasn't sure what she wanted to build. Sparks fumbles around a junk pile coming across a piece of curved, alloy metal mixed of tungsten and titanium. "What can I do with this?"

"You can build a pair of gauntlets, I have seen how you can fight." Sparks turns around to see her mentor standing behind her with her arms crossed and a smile planted on her face. "You know what, that's not that bad of an idea.

Sparks dug around in the pile of metal to find some more tungsten/titanium alloy. Sparks spends the next two hours working on her weapons she slips them onto her hands noticing now they felt. To her, they seemed just right. The top of her right hand had a small spotting scope where she could shoot balls of electricity without being caught.

Sparks bends her left elbow and places her right hand on top to check her scope. I cannot believe this actually worked! Sparks then installs the energy source created by a repurposed artificial intelligence unit to a module on her back connected by tiny fiber optic wires to both hands. Sparks walks to the shooting gallery to test her gloves. She opens the palm of her hand and points it at the test dummy. A blue bolt of energy hits the dummy making it fall over.

Sparks fist punches into the air "Yeah! It worked!" Sparks grins while looking at her accomplishment. "Time to see if the joy buzzer works." Sparks sets a dial on the top of her left hand from kill to stun. Then she finds a random person walking by not paying attention. Quickly she sticks the palm of her hand on his shoulder. ZAP! The person falls to the ground.

Sparks prods the person, noticing his feet moving. "Thank goodness this didn't kill you." She drags the person propping him on the wall with a book in his hands. "well, I'm sorry for that to."

Smokey wasn't sure what to do she wasn.t exactly the social person but when someone opened their mouths with something genuinely interesting then she would reply. This so-called idea of an infiltration wasn't of her interest. She trusted Ash, but this plan seemed too simple to Smokey.

Smokey gets to the front of the counter, "have anything that can turn invisible?" The boy at the counter turns around, "what's your power?" Smokey looks at him with a are-you-serious-look. "I'm a silent one you idiot."

The boy's eyes widen "A silent one? Wow, I did not know there were any of them left. But seriously what's your power?" Smokey rolls her eyes annoyed, I'll show you then. She puts her hands on the counter and disappears the reappears. "Believe me now?" the boy shakes his head yes. "Now give me something simple." The boy reaches into a drawer behind him, "This turns invisible, it's called a chameleon. It will sit on your shoulder and will shoot lasers at whatever you tell it to without speaking."

He sets a small metal box with one side painted blue onto the desk. "it's lightweight so you won't even know it's there." Smokey picks up the box examining it, "how's it turn on?" She sets the box back onto the counter. The boy taps the box on the blue painted top, the entire box shape shifts into a small metal chameleon with little green glowing eyes. "So, the whole thing is a literal small, metal robot?"

The boy holds his hand out for it to crawl onto its hand. "I know, you'll figure it out silent ones are intuitive they think outside the box." He shoves the Chameleon into Smokey's hands. "He's the only one of his kind take care of him for me." Smokey smiles, I sure will.

Scorch wanders to the front of the line where she reaches a tall skinny blond boy in a sleeveless shirt, "hey what's up?" Scorch could not decide on a weapon. "You look like a healer, right?" Scorch fumbles for words, "I, um, need a weapon that would be really useful, I can actually heal people." The boy opens a cabinet behind him pulling out some kind of metal wristband. "What is this?" Scorch picks it up to study the piece of equipment. "This will reverse your power where you can intend harm on the opponent and it could be fatal if you deliver the right move."

Scorch sets it down, "I'm not really into this. Do you have something with lasers?" The boy snorts, "lasers? We have loads of stuff with lasers." He turns around dragging a rack loaded with weapons on it. Scorch liked the idea of having something that can be used at a long distance. The boy pulls a set of matching pistols out one with a scope on top and slightly longer. "Here take these laser pistols, if you connect them like this." He butts both pistols together a small beam of light embodies both of them turning into a rifle. It looked similar to a armor lite 15 but more complex with a singular glowing red line spiraling down the barrel to the butt stock. "Ooh, Scorch likey!" The boy smiles with a coy smirk at her. "it uses magnetism to join together." The boy runs his thumb over a button, "and if you press this button here they return to laser pistols."

Scorch picks it up smiling widely. "thanks." She turns around to leave, "wait a moment." She stops dead in her tracks, "please, just.... take the bracelet anyway." Scorch turns around and swipes it off the counter. "no problem, but uh, thanks anyway I guess." She returns a lovely smile.
