Daniel paced up to the locked bars in the Pack Dungeons, tapping the metal bars with his figure tips. The sounds echoing into the darkness as the Ghost Rogue peaked one of her eyes opened.
"We made a deal," she mumbled, still relaxed into the wall, breathing calming into the duty and rotten air.
Daniel rolled his eyes, "Yeah. I'm sure this deal brought you back here too."
"Moon Goddess' will, I guess.
"But I think the real question is," the rogue smirked, "why did you try to kill my family the day I was banished?"
He crossed his arms, surprised that she figured that out— especially since she hadn't been on Pack Lands since. "I wasn't trying to kill them. You make me sound evil," he responded, glancing behind him. "A guy does weird things for the girl he has a crush on," he answered, looking peaceful with the fact.
"I guess you just make so many women swoon with your ability to really understand them," she spoke dryly at him, but she didn't move. After all, she had a feeling Daniel was just trying to help her get the Alpha position, and the situation just spun out of control. "The past is in the past," she whispered. "Plus," she added, "I'm assuming Sophia is going to confront Connie, and I would like to see what goes down."
He unlocked the door, moving into the cell. "I'm going to get into trouble because of you," he snarled, his wolf displeased he was turning his back on Alpha Connie.
"I already got banished because of you," she laughed back, standing up after her old crush unlocked her. "Let's go," she commanded, "or I'm going to be late for my afternoon show."
They walked side by side, like they used to do before Azalea made the wild her home.
"You know," Daniel filled in the silence, making a clear path for them towards Sophia and Alpha Connie, "I'm surprised no one remembered who you are. You look the same."
The Rogue Ghost smiled, "I can't say I agree. I haven't seen a good reflection of myself for a long time."
"Explains the rats' nest you call hair."
Suddenly, they were inside Azalea's childhood home. The pictures changed. Instead of Connie's childhood, baby pictures of Sophia and Issac filled the walls. She sighed, her eyes roaming over the structure. The furniture was moved around, different coaches and chairs.
She left Daniel behind, heading towards the Alpha's Office— her office. She stood outside of the door, listening carefully to the conversation.
"Sophia, I don't know when this silly idea came into your head," Connie snapped, "but you were born after Issac."
Sophia stood her ground, "You're lying."
Connie sounded exhausted, but he continued to explain to his daughter. "Why would I lie?"
"Because you don't believe in me," Sophia yelled, tears forming in her eyes, "or maybe because you're walking in the same mistake Grandpa and Grandma made."
Connie growled, "What are you talking about?"
"The True Alpha, Azalea!" Sophia examined, "Why can't you just tell us the truth!"
"Azalea tried to murder the whole Alpha Family, Sophia. She is no Alpha!"
Sophia yelled even louder, "She's your sister! She's your older sister!" She took a deep breath, "She's my aunt— the aunt I'll never get to meet. I don't believe the fake story your going to give me. If anything, we both know she was framed."
The Ghost Rogue took a step back. Sophia seemed to surprise her more and more. Never did she think that someone would stand up for her. For her entire life, she was putting down bullies and protecting herself.
"Sophia, you weren't even there. How would you even know?" Connie asked, his time clearly done with his daughter. "Stop this none sense because you cause more trouble than you already known."
Azalea looked back at Daniel.
"My parents will be coming over for dinner, and I expect this to be the last time you bring this up. Do you understand me?"
Sophia softly whispered, "Yeah."
Alpha Connie growled at her.
"Yes, Alpha," she dragged the word 'Alpha,' making sure to curl her lips back. The office door slammed opened, and Sophia walked into an empty hallway. She paused at her father's voice, realizing he was telling her to close his door, softly, so he could continue to work.
Daniel was waiting at the bottom of the stairs, obeying the True Alpha's instructions. He glanced up, "Sophia." He greeted softly, unbothered by the she-wolf's glare, "You are trending dangerous territory. Are you sure you really want to uncover the past?"
Sophia turned around, her eyes glowing. She bared her teeth, "What do you know?"
"I think the question is, what do you want to know?"
Sophia walked towards him, her eyes traveling across his body— looking for any sighs he might attack her. "Is," Sophia glanced upstairs, making sure her father was still in his office, "Azalea still alive?"
Interesting.
Azalea peaked from the hallway, carefully walking past the office— the one her brother took. Her eyes pinpoint Sophia quickly, noticing her grow anger when Daniel didn't answer her dying question.
"Tell me," she huffed, keeping her voice low. She may have been angry, but she didn't need to cause a sign.
Daniele shrugged, "Your grandparents will know." He pulled Sophia towards him, making Sophia snap her teeth at him. Growing up with Azalea before she was banished caused him to behave differently from distaste towards him— every moment he was beside her, he got bullied and attacked.
Daniel lead Sophia away from the building, ultimately leaving Connie and Azalea alone.
The Rogue Ghost smiled, making her way back towards the office door. Her knuckles barely touched the wood, but she heard her brother's voice through it.
"Come in."
The door slowly opened, making Alpha Connie glance his gaze up from his laptop. His eyes widened, but he quickly stood up.
"Connie, please," the rogue chuckled, "this is a much better room for conversation. That's all I'm here for. If I truly had the desire to kill you, well, that would just change everything."
