The woman smirked; pack wolves were always so predictable. She knew it wouldn't take long for eighteen year old Sophia to come visit her for answers. She was no where near being surprised when the metal doors opened, revealing another woman with Alpha blood.
Sophia watched her carefully, judging the rogue as she took a seat. She crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes before she sighed, "Let's make a deal."
The Rogue Ghost lifted her head, raising an eyebrow, "And what is this magnificent deal you've come up with? Information exchanged for freedom?"
"No," Sophia smirked, "Information exchanged for survival."
The rogue yawned, shrugging her shoulders, "No difference really, Sophia. Plus if I'm dead, you won't know what I know. You will still be stuck, battling against your brother for the pack."
"What?" Sophia questioned, shaking her head. She figured this rogue was playing mind games with her. "Rogues don't care about anything that revolves packs."
The older woman but her lip, drawing blood, "Everything rogues do is about packs, Sophia. Do not speak like you know how to live in the true wild."
"I can speak anyway I like," she snarled, trying to gain dominance with the wolf. Instead, the rogue wasn't even bothered by her presence.
"You said you wanted to make a deal," the Rogue Ghost reminded.
The young wolf shook her head, closing her eyes. She was battling with her thoughts, with the stress and pressure she has to hold up. When she opened them, she answered, "Yes. If you answer one question, I will grant you permission to walk around the pack, escorted by guards."
"Deal. What's your question?"
Sophia pulled her shoulders back. The rogue watched carefully, wondering. She had never seen this type of approach before, and she was dying to figure out what Sophia wanted in the end.
"What's the story about the True Alpha?"
The Rogue Ghost raised her eyebrow in surprised, clicking her teeth together. In all honesty, she was impressed with little Sophia. It wasn't everyday when someone thinks outside of social norms. Usually, Alphas and Betas ask about rogues, her name, or information concerning the pack; however, Sophia asked about her— her story.
For once, the woman didn't know how to answer. Her story wasn't a tale of good laughs but of hardship and death. She didn't get to her position because she had it easy; instead, she had to fight tooth and nail for everything she had.
She nodded her head, "Very well. I will tell you a story, but not now. I have a feeling we don't have much time before someone comes down looking for you or comes to tortue me."
"Sounds fair, but I expect nothing but the truth," Sophia added, smirking in victory. "I can easily find out if you are lying to me."
"What will you do?" The woman chuckled, shaking her head. "Kill me?"
Sophia sighed, "I'll make you wish you told me the truth."
The rogue stared at her. "For some reason, I have a feeling even if I did lie, you wouldn't do anything about it."
Sophia froze. She grunted, glancing behind the door. She knew she only had a few moments before she was caught, and she refused to go empty handed. "I'll come back later for the story, but can you just give me a preview?"
"Of the True Alpha?"
Sophia nodded her head, her wolf warning her to leave before she got caught.
The rogue nodded her shoulders, "I want a nice meal for the preview."
The Alpha's daughter nodded her head, "Of course."
"Her name was Azalea," the Rogue Ghost spoke, closing her eyes as she remembered her story. She sighed for a moment, "This story, Sophia, isn't one to scare kids into sleeping or to have some sort of educational means. It's not something most like to hear or speak of."
Sophia rolled her eyes, "I understand that. I didn't want a story for the sake of hearing your voice. I have heard the rumors of a woman named Azalea in the pack. I didn't know she was supposed to be the Alpha."
"Those rumors are likely to be true, Sophia," the rogue laughed, biting her lip. "Azalea was a disease, almost killing her mother at birth. Connie saved their mother, and I believe your grandparents are still alive— so you can check to see if I'm lying."
Sophia nodded her head, and she quickly left without a word. She barely caught sight of the guard entering another cell. With the guards out of the way, she escaped, leaving the Rogue Ghost all alone.
"Look at what we have here," the guard laughed, smirking at her. "Finally decided to come home." He marched into her cell, dropping off some water and food, leaning against the doorframe.
The rogue rolled her eyes, noticing how calm he was in a cell with her, "This will never be home, Daniel."
He chuckled, rolling his shoulders back, "I understand that. How have you've been?" The look in his eyes told the Rogue Ghost that he was genuine curious about her well being— unlike everyone else she has seen.
The rogue stared at him, sighing. She leaned back, getting relax as she felt his eyes on her.
"I think I found the meaning in my life I have been looking for."
Daniel looked shocked, scratching the back of his neck. Personally, he never thought she would find any meaning. Her past was a black hole that rips everything from its rightful place. "Really," he asked, perking up, "you have?"
She nodded her head, keeping it short as her eyes felt heavy. She stayed awake till Sophia could visit her, not wanting to be asleep when she came. "Yep, I have. Is that so hard to believe?"
Daniel waved his hands in the air, both already knowing the answer as he struggled to find the right one. "I guess, not everyone survives what you have been through; much less, finds meaning in their life."
He smiled, "What is it?"
"Saving her."
