Chapter 21. Sour people

Sang's POV:

I woke up to find only Gabriel lying in the bed with me, still sleeping, one blond lock of hair falling into his open mouth.

I started giggling and he woke up, spitting the hair from his mouth to glare at me.

"I see someone is already feeling better." He grumbled quietly, his voice sounding even deeper than usual.

I smiled at him as I began to take stock of my body. The pain had gone away, my throat was a little dry and when I moved too much I felt a little nauseous, but I was alive and moving.

"Definitely better." I told him, not wanting him to worry about something that was probably just the side effects from the poisoning.

It would pass.

He narrowed his eyes at me suspiciously but didn't say anything. Instead he sat up and moved to get up from the bed.

"Come on, you trouble-maker. It is already lunch time, let's go down to eat something." He said as he slipped both arms around me and hauled me over to his lap, hugging me tightly to his chest, his face hiding in my neck.

His kimono had fallen open in the front while we slept and my hands met warm, firm skin as he hugged me. I felt myself blushing to the roots of my hair but didn't pull back.

I felt him take a deep breath and shudder. I wrapped my arms around him just as tightly, wanting to give him whatever comfort I could.

"Don't you dare to die on me, Trouble." He mumbled against my neck. "I will have to drag you back to life by your hair if you do, and that would be a crime against such a pretty hair."

I smirked against his shoulder, "Your worry for my hair is heartwarming, Meanie."

He smacked my tight before helping me stand up. "Sure thing, Trouble. I am all warm feelings, soft words and shit."

He said it with a hint of sarcasm but I knew that with me and his brothers Gabriel was capable of both warm feelings and soft words.

We walked downstairs and I was pleasantly surprised to see that all of my boys were there.

Luke got up from the couch where he was sitting at and rushed over to me, almost tackling me to the floor. My stomach didn't appreciate his enthusiasm but I managed to control myself.

"Cupcake!" He exclaimed before letting me go and taking a quick step back, looking concerned, "Are you okay? Do you feel sick, are you in pain, do you need more chocolate?"

I blushed beet red realizing he also knew I was in my period. Did they all know?

Glancing around at the blushing faces I concluded that they did all know.

"I am fine, Luke. Just a little nauseous." I finally told him before anyone else tried to tackle me.

Sean immediately left the room, heading to the infirmary. North grumbled something under his breath and grabbed Luke by the back of his kimono, dragging him over to the kitchen.

Nathan and Silas stepped over to me, Silas reaching me first and pulling me delicately into a bear hug, making my feet leave the ground. "We were worried about you, Aggele." He said against my ear making me tremble against him.

Praying he didn't notice I answered "I will be fine, Silas. I am glad you are back."

He smiled and let me go, Nathan immediately putting his arms around me from behind, his face going to my neck as I lay my hands over his where they rested in my belly.

"Are you sure you are okay, Peanut?" he whispered quietly, just to my ears.

I nodded my head slowly, "Yes." And then I asked, raising an eyebrow "Peanut?"

I felt him smiling against the skin of my neck, causing shivers to run through my spine, "You are so small." He mumbled, his warm breath tickling against my skin.

I scoffed but I knew he was right, especially next to someone as big as him and Silas. But it would be a mistake to underestimate me because of my size; the boys seemed very disturbed by my almost-death situation.

I thrust my elbow back hitting him in the stomach with enough force for his breath to leave his lungs with a groan and his arms to loosen around me.

Twisting out of his embrace I smirked at him, "Nice of you to notice, Honey."

The boys laughed and Victor came over to hug me too, not having been able to do so before.

When Sean came back he handed me a small vial with a bitter liquid he said would help with the nausea and keeping the food down.

Soon we were heading for the dining room and North and Luke were bringing in the food.

As I sat down with Victor's help I turned to Blackbourne-san and asked, "How are things going since my... condition?"

His grey eyes met mine and he said, "Taylor-kun has found out that quite a few of the servants in the kitchen were aware of the attempt in poisoning you, but we don't think they are the ones who planned it. I am still working at finding the ones at fault. The boys returned when news of your attack reached the Academy clan. Jack-sama might have been involved."

North handed me a plate with a mountain of vegetables in it that I wasn't entirely sure I would be able to eat.

"Not only that," Luke suddenly said as the boys moved to serve themselves, "But when we were coming back here an old woman in the village said that the families that live close to the main house might be involved and that Marie and Elise might be hiding with them."

The others turned their attention to him, clearly not having heard of this before.

Gabriel, who was sitting at my other side reached for my plate and stole half the vegetables from it, winking at me discretely.

I smirked at him as I thought about what Luke said for a moment. Their involvement wasn't a surprise, they had all been loyal to my father, it is expected they would want me dead if Elise told them I had killed him.

"I think it might be a good idea to see how they are adjusting to the change in clan' head this afternoon." I said into the silence that immediately turned to chaos as the boys began to protest.

"Absolutely not!" Blackbourne-san said in tone of utter command, Kota agreeing with him.

"No way, Trouble! If you try it I will fucking ground you!" Gabriel shouted.

"Hell no, Baby." North bellowed, crossing his arms over his chest as Silas laid a hand over his shoulder, looking worried.

Nathan shook his head from side to side; a scowl in his face that could rival North's and Sean began to say that in my weakened condition I couldn't possibly be considering a visit to my enemies.

Surprisingly enough, Luke and Victor remained calm, their brown eyes fixed on mine thoughtfully.

"What are you planning, Princess?" Victor asked me calmly.

I smile at him and Luke mischievously.

"I think it is time I give these people what they think they want."

......

Victor's POV:

Late evening:

The guys and I had listened attentively to Sang-chan's plan. It was a simple one, but very likely to work in our favor.

It was late afternoon now and Blackbourne-san and I had finished sending the invitations for dinner to the four main families of the clan: the Shinoda, Mikoshiba, Sohma and Takamura.

According to Princess these were the four most powerful families in the clan, the ones who stood beside the clan head at times of great decisions and supported the people.

It was also very common for the head of a clan to marry the heir of one of the main families in their clan. Me and my brothers didn't like that bit of information.

After Gabriel had taken Sang to get ready Blackbourne-san had made we vote again on the matter of whether or not we would be sharing Sang between us. If she was interested, that is.

The others agreed readily and we were off to complete our multiple tasks while we waited for our visitors.

"Blackbourne-san," Kota called to us from the doorway to the office.

"Yes, Lee-kun?" Blackbourne-san asked with a questioning glint in his eyes.

Kota nodded at him, indicating everything was in place as planned and we both stood up. Time to join our mistress and greet our guests.

Kota, Gabriel, Silas, Blackbourne-san and I would remain at Sang's side throughout the dinner. Luke, Nathan and North had gone to search the houses of our guest in hopes of finding and arresting Elise and Marie. If they found any evidence tying these people to the attempted murder against our mistress all the better.

The greeting went as expected, Kota and Blackbourne-san staying beside Sang-chan while the rest of us stood guard against the walls. The families had brought their sons, which irked but was also expected.

Gabriel kept glaring at the boys and mumbling about how his "Trouble" wasn't going to marry these "unfashionable-curs". After a while he began to study me and the rest of the guys and I could tell from his gaze that his focus had turned to shopping new clothes for us so we could attract Sang's attention.

I wanted to groan at that until Silas leaned closer to us and whispered. "If you are thinking of how best to get her attention, I think that "no clothes" will work better than "new clothes"." He said with a smirk on his face.

Gabriel blushed and I could feel my own cheeks heating at the prospect.

Silas could say that, he was huge and muscled, two things that women seemed to like; Gabriel and I looked like toothpicks besides him.

I shot Gabe a glance telling him I was willing to go shopping, he nodded in agreement, his eyes grim and determined.

When dinner was done without any strange occurrences we all gathered back at the living room for a little mingling.

The families mostly ignored us so me and my brothers gathered along the walls again to watch as our mistress handled them.

Princess stood with a poise and calmness while talking politely with them, she was solicitous and understanding when the women whined about their lives and the men complained about their servants and workers.

Then, as if orchestrated the women began to reminisce about life before Sang became the head of the clan.

"Oh, Honda-san, do you remember that time when the Sorensons gave that party..." one said.

"Yes! It was all so elegant! And Elise's clothing was the latest in fashion!" another answered.

And so they went for a good ten minutes before one of them dropped a bomb.

"And then Elise told us about how she punished you, Sang-sama." Said Shinoda Mugi-san with false compassion on her expression. "I couldn't believe what she was saying! Such cruelty to such a sweet, young girl!"

"Oh yes! An absurd! We've known you since you were a small baby and couldn't believe how badly she treated you!" exclaimed Mikoshiba Hime-san.

I felt my fury begin to burn in my blood and wished that I could kill these people, but Blackbourne-san's hand on my shoulder stayed my hand.

A glance around the room showed that the men had distanced themselves from the spectacle, the boys and their fathers standing by the windows talking quietly while their mothers and wives converged on Sang.

Sang sat calmly on one of the arm-chairs while the four women sat at the couch. The smile on her face was truly terrifying. If I had to compare it I would say it looked like one from a she-wolf about to eat her prey.

These "ladies" didn't know what they were doing.

They kept babbling about Sang's life as if they knew everything about it, until they commented on a scar in her left thigh.

"I am very surprised you all know about that scar, only my boyfriends should know about that." She said, deadpan.

The women paused in their babbling and one of them asked, "What boyfriend? And you had more than one?"

My eyebrows had risen at that bit of information. Sang had always seemed so innocent, none of us had thought she might have dated before. I felt jealousy start to grown in my chest.

Sang let out a salacious laugher at the women faces, "Of course! They were delightful, those twins!"

The women eyebrows rose in synchrony, "Twins? Delightful?" Mugi-san said with barely concealed horror. "You sound as if you had dated them at the same time."

I looked around at my brothers to see their reactions. Gabriel looked heartbroken, Kota and Blackbourne-san wore identical blank expressions and Silas was smirking in amusement.

The fact Silas was finding this funny made me calm down minutely. There was something here I wasn't seeing and I wondered if something had happened after lunch when he and North accompanied her into town to meet with a friend.

None of us had been allowed to tag along aside from those two and Princess had looked much happier when she'd come back home to finish preparations for this dinner.

The women shrieked scandalized, their voices accusing as they questioned Sang's behavior as a clan head.

Our mistress merely raised an eyebrow at the furious women and calmly said, "I had thought you ladies already knew everything about my life. Why do you all sound so surprised, then?"

I smirked, that had made the women shut up right quick.

Sang leaned forward in her chair and speared the women with a cutting glance, "I know everything about you." she said with a smile and a few of them let out a nervous laugh before standing from the couch and making their excuses, saying it was late and past time they returned home.

Sang nodded her head at them without standing from the couch and signaled for the servants to accompany our guests to the door.

As they left the room Silas approached Sang's chair with a smile, "So, twins uh? Were it the Persians?" he asked with an indulgent smile as he collected her in his arms and sat back down in her chair with Sang in his lap.

We sat in the couch across from them and watched as she rested her hands on his chest and smiled at him mischievously, "Siamese, actually."

I glanced around at my brothers and saw understanding dawn on their features.

"Cats? You were talking about fucking cats?" Gabriel shouted at the top his lungs.

Princess just smiled at him, nodding, her cheeks becoming rosy with a blush.

My muscles finally relaxed and I saw thatmy brothers were also feeling relief at this news.

Not that we would judge her if she'd dated other boys before, but knowing she hadn't and might come to belong exclusively to us... well, call me caveman but I liked that.

She focused her gaze on Blackbourne-san, her green eyes questioning and worried, "Do we have news on the others?"

He nodded his confirmation, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips, "Yes, they've found and captured the fugitives. They've also found some interesting information. But we can discuss all of it tomorrow as it is late."

Sang nodded in agreement and we all stood to go to our rooms, Silas and I following after Sang.

Once in her room my brother slipped into bed with her and I moved behind the piano to play for her before joining them in bed.

Life was solving itself, soon everything would be settled.
