Chapter 33: Meet the Titans
Third Person POV
"Wow." Danny whispered as he stared up at the enormous T-shaped building. It was a lot bigger than he had imagined. Dick wasn't giving his HQ enough justice.
The elder Grayson smiled at the wonder in his brother's green eyes. Both teens were in their hero costumes as the Titans did not know of Robin's secret identity. Robin was going to introduce Danny as an old friend of his and, if the others agreed to it, the newest member of the Titans. Robin tapped the halfa on the shoulder, snapping the white-haired teen out if his trance. "Come on," He began, walking to the entrance of the tower, "You gonna stand out here all day staring at it or do you want to see inside?"
Danny fought a down a blush as he floated over to his older brother. Robin pushed open the large doors of the tower. The two teens had barely made it about five feet away from the entrance when Robin was tackled to the ground by a blurred figure. "Friend Robin! You have returned at last!" A teenage girl with fiery-red hair and orange skin said happily, wrapping her arms around Robin in a tight hug. Danny took in the appearance of the girl. Aside from her oddly colored skin the girl looked completely normal. She wore a sleeveless crop top showing her midriff, a stem stalk mini-skirt, and thigh-high boots all in violet, and her tight-high boots had white stockings.
"I'm happy to see you too, Starfire." Robin said, patting the girl on the back. The girl, Starfire, helped Robin to his feet. Danny noticed that she hovered a few inches off the ground and had completely green eyes. It was then that Starfire noticed Danny standing behind Robin.
She gasped loudly and quickly flew over to Danny, clasping his gloved hands in hers. "You are the Danny Phantom! The boy who helped save Earth!" She exclaimed. Her solid green eyes were wide with excitement and wonder.
Danny felt a blush rise in his cheeks. He should have been used to everyone knowing who he was by this point. He had been a key part in saving the world from the Disasteroid after all. But for some reason, he thought meeting a fellow hero would have been different than meeting a fan. "Um... Yeah." The teen said awkwardly.
Starfire gave him a wide smile. "It is an honor to be meeting you!" She told him, releasing his hands. Starfire began circling around him, silently wondering to herself about his powers. All the while Danny fought to control his blush.
Robin chuckled at his brother's discomfort and walked over to the two teens, gently grabbing Starfire's wrist. "Okay, I think that's enough for today. Why don't we let Danny meet the others?" Robin suggested.
Starfire's eyes lit up with excitement once more. "A most excellent idea!" Starfire slipped out of Robin's loose hold and quickly latched her hand onto Danny's wrist. "Come!" She shouted, "You must meet the others!" Before Danny even knew what was happening Starfire had taken off, dragging Danny along with her.
Robin laughed silently to himself as he heard his brother shout in surprise and confusion as Starfire flew him through the tower. "Guess I'm taking the elevator." He said aloud, walking over to said elevator.
I am the Posh Line Break, once again appearing in the book. Might I say you look amazing today. Would you like a new scarf? It would go wonderfully with the hat I gave you last time.
Danny sat awkwardly on the couch in the main room of the tower while four sets of eyes stared at him intensely. The young halfa had been introduced to each member of the Titans and were now currently waiting for Danny's introduction. Personally Danny thought he shouldn't have to introduce himself; they obviously knew who he was. Starfire sat next to Danny on the couch with Beast Boy sitting on the edge of the couch and Cyborg and Raven standing in front of the couch. Robin was in the kitchen grabbing himself and the others drinks. The tower was silent. Robin walked over to the couch, tossing everyone a drink which they caught.
"So, Danny." Cyborg began as he took a sip from his drink, "What brings you to Jump City?"
Danny quietly took a sip of his drink and looked over at Robin, silently urging him to give him a clue of what to say. He knew what they had planned to do but he didn't know how they were going to execute it.
Luckily, Robin noticed Danny's message and swooped in to save the day. "Danny is an old friend of mine." He informed the team. "We met up while I was out on my mission and I invited him to come see the tower." Robin knew the lie was obviously half-baked, but if they saw through it he had a perfect recovery.
Raven frowned and folded her arms, "We saw him when we were in Antarctica. You didn't seem to know him then." She pointed out.
The colorful-clothed teen nodded. He should have known that Raven would be able to point out the tiny flaw in his lie. Thankfully due to his years being raised under Batman, he always had a backup plan. "Yes, well, it had been a while since I had seen him last and he had changed a lot." Robin's eyes scanned over the young halfa, silently thinking to himself, 'Like becoming a completely different person.'
Raven's eyes narrowed. She could tell that Robin wasn't telling them something but she wasn't going to push it. Everyone's privacy was respected in the tower.
Cyborg waltzed over to Danny, clapping the teen on the back. "So Phantom, what do think of Titans Tower?" The robotic teen gave Danny a large smile, doing his best to make the young halfa feel welcome. He had done some research on Danny Phantom after the Disasteroid event was over. Turns out the kid was quite a trouble-maker. He and Beast Boy both agreed that they would get along with the ghostly hero just fine.
Danny felt the tips of his ears go red. "Uh... It's really cool. I've never seen a building this big before. The closest thing we have to this place in Amity Park is Fenton Works." The teen felt something pull at his heart once he mentioned his home. He realized that he hadn't talked to them last night. He couldn't believe in all the excitement of going with Dick to Jump City he had forgotten to call them. How could he possibly have forgotten?
Robin noticed Danny become lost in thought and he cleared his throat, catching the teen's attention. "There was actually another reason that I invited Danny to the tower." This caught the attention of the other teens. Robin smiled, "I didn't want to make this official before I went through all of you first, but I was thinking Danny Phantom would make a great addition to our team." The raven haired hero crossed his arms and looked at all of his friends. "So what do you think?"
After a moment of silence where everyone thought over their answer, the vote was cast.
"Yes." Starfire said happily, clapping her hands.
"Totally dude." Beast Boy agreed, giving Danny a thumbs up.
Raven gave Danny a rare smile and nodded, signally her agreement.
Cyborg ruffled Danny's snowy hair and laughed at Danny's small attempts to swat his hand away. "Welcome to the team Phantom. You're now an official member." The robotic teen told him.
Danny paused in fixing his hair as his eyes lit up with excitement. "Really?" He asked, wondering to himself if this was actually happening.
"Well, not officially." Raven corrected. She gave him a sly smirk, "There is an initiation process after all."
Danny felt his blood run cold when he saw the looks on Raven's, Cyborg's and Beast Boy's faces. He swallowed hard and slowly phased through the couch, far away from the teens.
The loud sound of an alarm going off startled Danny, causing him to drop his intangibility and lose focus. He crashed to the ground as the Titans gathered around the main computer in the room.
"Initiation will have to wait." Robin said, running to the exit, the team following close behind. "Dr. Light has been spotted in the East end of town. We have to get there now!"
Danny sprang to his feet and followed after Robin and the others. His new teammates. Just thinking that brought a smile to Danny's face. As Danny raced after them, a chill went up his spine. The teen paused and looked around. His ghost sense hadn't gone off, and there was no one suspicious in the tower, so why did he feel like he was being watched?
"Hey! Phantom! You coming?" The young halfa heard Cyborg shout.
Danny shook it off as him being paranoid as usual and quickly flew to catch up with the others. He couldn't mess up on his first mission. He would make this place his home, and these people his family. But, would he feel the same about them as he did the Fentons?

A young blond-haired man wearing a blue uniform sat in the security booth at a late night parking garage, playing on his phone. "Man this job sucks." He muttered, "Why would anyone come to a parking garage this late at night anyways?"
The man's question was answered when a battered old car rolled into the parking garage. It sputtered past the entrance and made a whirring noise before coming to a complete stop a few feet away from the booth the man was currently sitting in. The man watched the car for a good ten minutes, waiting for the driver to get out.
When almost fifteen minutes had passed the man sighed and stood, grabbing his flashlight off the desk. He slowly got out of the booth and approached the car, shining his light on the windows. The man noticed that the car was barely holding itself together. The front bumper was falling off, the right headlight was smashed in, there were cracks in the windshield and both side view mirrors were gone. The paint on the car was peeling and scratched and the wheel rims were covered in rust.
The blond man approached the driver's side window. He tried shining the light on it to see who was inside but the window was so dark he couldn't see inside. The man tapped lightly on the window. "Hello? Are you alright in there?" The man asked, "Do you need medical help?"
The man thought to himself that it might have been smart to call for an ambulance before he got out of the booth when all of a sudden the driver's side door was thrown open. The man was knocked to the ground and the flashlight fell out of his hand. The man clutched his head as a splitting headache pulsed in his brain. "Ow, jeez man you could've given me a bit more warning." He moaned, sitting up. "The least you could do was-" The man was cut off by a pair of hands wrapping around his throat.
The man was lifted off the ground and found himself staring into crazed, blood red eyes. "Where. .. Is... He?" A raspy and guttural voice demanded.
The hands around the man's throat tightened and he was finding it difficult to breathe. "What are you...talking about...man?" The man managed to say.
"Where. Is. He?" The voice repeated, sounding angrier.
The blood red eyes burned with fury and the man was struggling to take in oxygen. His vision began to swim before his eyes, before he knew no more.
The mysterious figure tossed the unconscious body to the side carelessly. He spat at the limp form. "Weakling." The raspy voice said, disgusted. The figure walked out of the parking garage and stood under the light of the moon. The figure growled at the moon and cast his hatred gaze to the stars. "Twenty long years have passed since you and I last met, boy." The figure growled as he stalked off into the night. "You've most likely gotten older, stronger, smarter." The figure mused, chuckling darkly to themself. The figure wrapped their hooded cloak around them tightly, shielding their body from the cold bite of the night air.
"But I wonder... Have you been to Hell and back? Like me?"
