Chapter 25: Dark Futures Part 1

Third Person POV

It didn't have to end this way.

The day had started out just like any normal day. Wake up in the morning, get dressed, eat and head outside to take a walk. The same routine as always, and it was enjoyable. The sun was warm and not a single cloud blotted the endless blue sky. Its rays touched the earth and rid bodies of the chill in their bones left by the cold of night. The air was fresh and smelled of morning dew. Birds flew through the air, singing their songs and tweeting with delight. High up in the trees, a family of squirrels nestled together in their home. A smile was on the face of everyone, even the grouchiest old man. The city was serene as its buzzing population walked about the streets, full of happiness, of life. It was a perfect day. Nothing could go wrong.

Except... it did. Everything went wrong. And nothing would ever be the same after that.

Normal Line Break here, back from my very, VERY, short vacation. Enjoy the chapter.

"Daniel, look out!" The elder halfa barreled into the white haired teen. Both halfas crashed into the hard ground as a large beam of pink energy fired from a blaster attached to the wall. The beam hit the wall that had been behind Danny, causing a large explosion. Large pieces of sharpened metal and shrapnel fell down towards the two halfas. Vlad quickly drew his cape and covered himself and Daniel, throwing up a pink shield around them in the process. It protected them from the falling sharp objects. Once the blaster powered down and the last bits of metal had hit the floor did Vlad drop the shield. He looked down at the small teen hidden under his clean white cape. Danny looked up at the older man, a sheepish grin on his face.

"Um... Oops?" He offered, shrugging.

Vlad sighed and stood, helping the teen to his feet. "What were you thinking Daniel?" Vlad scolded as he released Danny's hand, "I told you that you were not ready for the Master levels. You could have been seriously hurt."

Danny quickly became interested in a small piece of metal near his foot. "I thought that I could give it a little test run." He mumbled.

Frowning, Vlad placed a hand on Danny's shoulder. The teen was still interested in the small piece of metal. The elder halfa's expression softened, "I did not mean to sound harsh Daniel. I was just... scared." Danny's attention quickly snapped to Vlad, seeing genuine concern in his eyes. "I don't know what I'd do with myself if you got hurt because of my carelessness." Vlad continued. He released Danny's shoulder and turned away from the teen. "Why don't we take a small break?" Without waiting for Danny's answer Vlad walked out of his personal training facility. As he closed the door behind him, Vlad stole a glance at Danny who was slowly following after Vlad. A smile threatened to make itself known on Vlad's features, but he fought the urge. "This is too easy." He mused as he made his way through the control room that monitored the training facility.

He let two black rings form around his waist as he walked and felt them spread across his body, transforming his white HAZMAT suit into a snazzy black business suit. He exited the control room through a false shelf in his wine cellar, walking through the heated room to a flight of stairs leading to a private parlor where he would normally entertain his important guests. Vlad heard the soft footsteps of the teen slowly following after him. The elder halfa frowned, maybe he had gone too far this time with his act. Or, was something else bothering his young ward?

The billionaire entered the parlor, taking in the setting. It had been decorated differently than the rest of his castle. The floors were hard, polished oak wood and the walls were a soft, creamy beige. Pieces of priceless art lined the walls, paired with bookshelves and small tables holding ornate lamps. A fireplace was located at the back of the room made of white brick. A marble mantle held some Packers memorabilia and in the space above rested a painting of the old Wisconsin Dairy King. Vlad had considered removing it when he renovated the castle, but felt it gave the room a certain charm. In the center of the room rested three plush, beige couches surrounding a large wooden coffee table. Vlad walked up to one of the bookcases and removed a book, taking a seat on one of the couches. He began flipping through the book as Danny walked out of the secret passage, back in human form. His head was lowered as he took a seat on the couch opposite Vlad and made a noticeable effort to avoid eye contact.

Vlad raised an eyebrow at this. He sighed and closed the book placing it on the table. "You know you are terrible at hiding things Little Badger." The elder halfa began, leaning forward, "I can tell something is wrong. And it's not just because of what happened in training today."

A hot blush rose in Danny's cheeks and he fought to keep it contained. He picked at a loose thread on his shirt and ignored Vlad, hoping that the matter would just drop.

Never one to be ignored and accept it, Vlad stood and moved over to the couch Danny was seated on. "Daniel," he began again, "you know you can talk to me if something is bothering you." Danny remained silent. Vlad nodded and stood, walking over to the doors of the parlor. "When you are ready to talk about it, I will be there to listen Daniel." He said, pausing at the doors. "I am going to the kitchen. Would you like anything?" He asked, casting a glance over his shoulder at the sullen teen.

Danny mumbled something under his breath. "Do speak up Daniel, it is not polite to mumble." Vlad lightly scolded.

"I want to ask you something." Danny replied. The direct response instantly sparked Vlad's curiosity. He went back to the couch Danny was seated on and sat down beside him.

"Yes, Little Badger?" Vlad said, urging him to continue.

Danny took a deep breath and looked up at the older man, staring directly into his blue eyes. He had been thinking over this question for a while and thought asking Vlad might be the best course of action he could take to get an answer. Swallowing hard Danny asked, "If I told my parents about all... this... would they accept me?"

The question took Vlad by surprise. How could he answer something like that?! An idea flashed to the front of his mind and he mentally smiled. Adopting a concerned expression, Vlad gave his answer. "Well," he began leaning back into the plush couch and crossing his legs, folding his hands on top of his lap, "They are your parents so they will love and accept you no matter what." A smile began to form on Danny's face. "But, there is the fact they are not your real parents." The smile disappeared.

Vlad turned to face Danny on the couch. "Jack and Maddie love you dearly, but they absolutely hate ghosts. They have devoted their lives to catching and dissecting ghosts." Vlad placed a hand on his chest, "I had only joined in on their experiments because Jack was my dear friend." And because he had a major crush on Maddie, but Danny didn't need to know that little detail. "I have no doubt in my mind that your parents would accept you, but how long would that last?" He continued. Vlad gently grabbed Danny by the shoulders, "We are special Daniel, we have abilities and powers that shouldn't be possible. We shouldn't even exist. But we do." He released the teen's shoulders, "Your parents may accept you Little Badger, but I am the only person who can possibly hope to understand your situation." Vlad stood, looking down at Danny, "Whatever you choose to do Little Badger, I will support you. Just remember no matter what happens, you can always come to me."

Danny looked up at the elder halfa and a small smile formed on his lips. He stood and wrapped his arms around Vlad in a quick hug, "Thanks Vlad, I needed that." He said gratefully. Before Vlad could even react to the gesture Danny released him and headed to the doors of the parlor. He looked back at the older man and silently chuckled at his dumbfounded expression. "Come on Fruit Loop." He teased as white rings appeared around his waist, transforming him into his alter ego, "Last one to the kitchen has to clean the training room!" And with that, he phased through the door and sped to the kitchen.

Vlad finally recovered from the shock of what had just happened and a sinister smile graced his face. Black rings formed around his waist and spread over his body, altering his appearance. He turned to the door and raised an eyebrow, never dropping his smile. "All too easy." He whispered before he turned his body intangible to race after the spunky white-haired teen.

this is the littlest line break. hope you're liking the chapter so far. ^-^

Danny, Sam and Tucker sat in an assembly at their high school while Mr. Lancer droned on about a test. "Your future is not carved in stone, people," the overweight teacher said, "but it may be carved with a No. 2 pencil." Lancer held up a pencil for emphasis.

Tucker slouched in his seat while Sam folded her arms on top of the space between Tucker's and Danny's seats, resting her head on her arms. Both teens appeared to be bored out of their minds. As Lancer continued to talk they both groaned and said in unison, "Oh, please."

"Quiet, this is important!" Danny scolded. His two friends stared at him, nonplussed, and exchanged a look before turning their attention to the overweight teacher on the stage.

"As most of you have probably forgotten, you will be taking the Career Aptitude Test-" As Lancer continued, the letters C.A.T., along with the words the represent, appear on a projector screen behind him, "-on Saturday." A smile flashed on the man's face, "Do well, like Ms. Fenton here," With that, Mr. Lancer gestured to the bright haired Jasmine Fenton sitting on the stage with him, "who got --"

"-- the highest score in the history of the C.A.T. --" Danny said in unison with Lancer, mimicking his dull tone. Danny wasn't trying to be rude but he couldn't help but be jealous of Jazz. She was perfect at everything. It made the teen feel... inadequate.

An image of two obnoxiously rich people flinging money around clicked onto the screen, followed by a fancy car, a mansion strongly resembling Vlad's, and a yacht. "-and a successful future will be assured!" Lancer finished happily. His voice then darkened, "Fail, like Irving "Third Degree" Burns here," the teacher said, gesturing to a sleeping man, drooling. Irving quickly woke up with a start at hearing his name mentioned as Lancer continued, "-who  got the lowest score in the history of the C.A.T., and you will be doomed to a career, at the Nasty Burger." An image of the burger joint is displayed on the projector. The presentation continued and by the end of it, Danny was shaken and his friends were concerned about the young halfa.

I AM THE GREAT AND POWERFUL LINE BREAK! ENJOY THE CHAPTER!

Far away from Amity Park, in a large corner of the Ghost Zone rarely seen by any ghost, rested a tower. It was a magnificent tower, surrounded by gears. Within the tower there were three powerful ghosts all watching over a small, raven haired teen from a large viewscreen. Two white robed ghosts wearing black capes hovered above the stone floor in the tower's main chamber. Their heads were round and green with a single eye. Their hands were a sickly green, skin pulled tight around the bones with long, sharp fingernails. One of the ghosts spoke to the purple cloaked being in front of them. "What are you waiting for? It's the perfect chance to take him out!" He urged.

The violet clad ghost turned, revealing a pale blue face, glowing red eyes with a jagged black scar running through his left eye. "That's the problem with you Observants." He said, shifting into a form that resembled a young toddler, "All you do is observe."

The other Observant spoke up this time, "You know our oath. To watch--"

"--and never act." The blue skinned ghost said, getting right up in the Observant's eyeball face. "Which is why you bring me in to do-" he shifted into an elderly form, a long white beard on his face, "-your dirty work." He finished. The ghost turned back to the large viewscreen, raising his staff causing it to emit a brief glow. The viewscreen changed to show the raven haired teen now sitting at his kitchen table, hunched over as he studied his notes. The ghost shifted back into his adult form, "He turns evil because he's under pressure-" shifts to child form, "-for some test?" A smirk tugged on the blue ghost's lips, "Fine. Then perhaps it's time for a test of my own."

I AM THE AMAZING LINE BREAK! How is everyone doing? Are you liking the chapter? ;)

Danny, Sam and Tucker were all gathered in Danny's room. Their afternoon had been quite the wild ride. First Danny had fought a ghost named Box Lunch who claimed to be the daughter of the Box Ghost and the Lunch Lady, which then caused an 'ew' reaction from all the teens. The halfa and Box Lunch fought, their fight taking them to the Nasty Burger. In defeating Box Lunch, Danny destroyed the Nasty Burger and managed to get his hands on an odd looking medallion, as well as the answers for the C.A.T. when he phased through Lancer's briefcase during the explosion.

Sam had urged Danny to return the answers, Tucker had too, just a little bit. But in the end, Danny had kept the answers. The three friends were currently in Danny's room as Danny debated on whether or not to open the answer packet. Tucker leaned close to Sam and whispered, "Aren't you going to say something?"

Sam raised an eyebrow at him, "I'm his friend, not his mom." She answered, sending Danny a small glare, "If he wants to cheat, he can cheat."

Danny continued to stare at the answer packet on his desk, thinking over what he should do. He fingers reached for the seal and started to lift the flap, when a flash of blue light behind him caught his attention and his breath came out in a blue mist. Sam and Tucker gasped as the blue light formed a large shape. As the blue light disappeared, a somewhat familiar ghost floated in its place.

The ghost had two familiar faces on it. Skulker's head rested at the top of the large robotic body and Technus's face could be seen on the chest plate. He glowed with green flames and assorted wiring and tubes ran all over his mechanical body.

Tucker and Sam both sighed in relief at the ghost, seeing this as a welcome distraction for their friend. But they quickly corrected themselves. "I mean... Oh no, a ghost." They said in unison.

Danny ignored them and quickly transformed, flying at the new ghost. The ghost smiled at the on-coming teen and raised a hand. As Danny drew within striking distance the ghost backhanded Danny, sending the teen flying across the room and crashing into the far wall. Danny slid down the wall and glared up at the robotic ghost. "Who are you supposed to be?" He asked, anger blazing in his eyes.

From the robot's mouth came the familiar voice of Skulker, "I am Skulktech 9.9, the future Ghost Zone's greatest hunter!"

Technus's face on the chest plate of the robot spoke next, "With its greatest technovillain as his operating system!"

Danny's eyes widened as he took in this new information. "Skulker and Technus together?" He thought aloud.

"Is that an 'ew' or a 'yikes'?" Tucker questioned, raising a confused brow at the new ghost.

Danny got to his feet as seven claw-ended arms spring out of Skulktech's back, their sharp claws glinting in the dim light. "Definitely a 'yikes'." Danny answered, eyeing the claws cautiously. The arms lunged at him and the teen barely missed being skewered by three of the arms. He turned intangible and flew towards his friends, grabbing them and flying out of the room. He dropped them in the hall, then flew back into the room to face Skulktech 9.9. He flew out of the way of two claw-ended arms and landed hard on the floor.

Skulktech turned around and fired another arm at Danny, who yelped in terror and quickly rolled away from the fast-approaching arms. Another arm was came towards Danny and the teen jumped up, avoiding the claw and causing it to destroy the desk behind him instead. Skulktech used another arm to swing at Danny, catching him in the chest. The teen fell to the ground and the claws of one of the arms wrapped around Danny's throat. The young halfa was picked up from the ground and brought face to face with the flaming head of Skulktech 9.9. "Say goodbye." Skulker's voice said.

Danny was lowered so that he was now staring at Technus's face. "Ghost child!" Technus said in his annoying voice. They raised a claw arm in front of Danny's face as it began to spin like a buzzsaw. Before they could do anything else, Skulktech's gauntlet beeped in a familiar tune.

The gauntlet was raised to Skulker's head and his eyes widened as he checked what was making the beeping noise. "Someone's hacked into the system? Again?! I thought we fixed that!" He cried, looking down at Technus.

"We did!" Technus replied, "We must have accidentally synced up with somebody else's PDA!" As Technus finished speaking, Skulktech turned intangible and jet powered wings extended from his back. Danny fell to the ground as Skulktech launched up through the ceiling and out of the house.

The door to Danny's room opened and Tucker and Sam entered. Tucker held his beloved PDA in his hand. "Wow. I can still hack into his operating system with my handheld computer. I don't know whether that's exciting or depressing." He mused.

"Come on!" Danny shouted, leaping to his feet, "Follow me!" The teen turned intangible and flew up through the ceiling.

His two friends stared up at the area in the ceiling where Danny disappeared. "We'll walk." Tucker said as he and Sam turned and exited the room, silently wondering how they were going to catch up with their super powered friend.

Meanwhile, Jazz was having a conversation with Mr. Lancer after school. They had been discussing the odd disappearance of the C.A.T. test answers and Lancer was accusing Danny of being the culprit. Jazz was doing her best to defend her adoptive little brother, but she wasn't having much luck. In fact, the more she and Mr. Lancer discussed the topic the more she started to actually wonder if Danny really did steal the answers.

Danny raced after Skulktech, flying at high speeds to keep up with the robot. "What are you waiting for? Activate the Purpleback Gorilla Override!" Danny heard Skulker shout.

"Don't tell me how to do my job." Technus retorted.

Danny continued to chase after them and fired a glowing green ectoblast. The blast hit the robot and caused it to fall out of the sky. Danny followed Skulktech's descent into the Nasty Burger's already partially demolished roof.

With renewed vigor, Skulktech launched into the air charging towards Danny. The teen flew to meet the robot head on, preparing another blast. "Activating Phantom Palm Pummeler!" Technus shouted. Skulktech's hand opened, revealing their palm. A bluewhite ray shot out of their palm and struck Danny, knocking him back a bit. As Danny fought to regain his composure, another blast struck him in the chest.

A strange feeling spread through his body and Danny looked down in horror to see white rings forming around his waist. They spread across his body, transforming him back to his human form. The teen began to plummet to the ground below, and instead of panicking he fought to start another transformation. Danny was successful as a white ring formed around his waist and spread across him, transforming him back into his alter ego. He stopped his rapid descent and looked to Skulktech. "You're shorting out my powers?!" He cried incredulously.

"Indeed." Skulker answered, "The Pummeler might not work on you in the future, but we had a feeling it would work on you here."

Danny became confused by this, "The Future?" He asked.

Technus laughed, "Oh, I love it. You're much less powerful than that other Phantom we have to deal with!" Skulktech took aim once more and fired another bluewhite blast of energy at Danny.

As the blast hit him, Danny shouted, "What are you two talking aboooout?" Danny turned human again and began to fall to the ground below. He cried out in terror, no longer trying to stay calm and focused in order to turn back into his ghost form. He stretched out his hand on a whim and managed to grab hold of a flagpole. The sudden stop caused sharp pain in Danny's arm, but he was relieved to see that he was no longer falling. He looked up at the flagpole and smiled, "Wow. That flagpole thing works? I thought for sure it would-" The flagpole snapped in half, "breeaaaak!!" Danny resumed falling and landed on awning, bouncing off it to land in a pile of trash. He poked his head out from under the trash pile and joked to himself, "Guess I don't have a future as an Olympic gymnast."

A metal arm snaked through the pile and clamped around Danny's torso. Before Danny could react an electric pulse went through the arm, shocking the teen. He cried out in pain as the shock subsided and fell onto his back. Skulktech revealed themself as they grinned down on the teen, "You don't have a future, period!" Skulker shouted.

"Not anymore!" Technus backed up.

"I wouldn't bet on that." Came a familiar voice. Danny looked over to the source of the voice to see his two best friends running up to him. Tucker was the one who had spoken as he held his PDA in hand. The technogeek intitated an override program on his PDA and aimed it at Skulktech 9.9. A red laser beam shot out of the device, hitting Skulktech.

The robot began to spark and a low buzz could be heard. Smoke began spilling off of Skulktech and both its owners said, in unison, "Oh, poop." They fell to the ground, pulling the same stunt Danny had done when he had fell. Only this time, Technus barely got to say his comment about the 'flagpole thing' actually working before the flagpole snapped and the landed on a lampost, crushing it under the weight of their impact. A familiar medallion swung freely from around their neck.

"Way to go, guys!" Danny congratulated.

The three teens smiled and Sam's expression quickly turned serious. "Come on, Tucker," she instructed, grabbing onto the metal clamp around Danny's torso, "let's see if we can get this off!" Tucker grabbed onto to Sam as she pulled on the arm.

Unbeknownst to them at the time, the leather strap of the medallion swinging off Skulktech 9.9's neck snapped and fell to the ground. Suddenly a blue glow engulfed Skulktech 9.9 and the three teens and the all found themselves falling out of a strange green portal. The metal clamp opened and Danny was freed, so they began investigating where the portal had taken them. "Where are we?" Tucker questioned as the three wandered, looking up into the gear-ridden darkness.

"I don't know," Danny replied as they peered out a window to see thousands of gears floating through the calming green mass around them, "The Ghost Zone I think but, no part of the Ghost Zone I've ever seen."

"It happened right after his medallion fell off." Sam added.

Tucker's eyes fell upon a small rack to his right. He smiled, "Then I think I know how to get us back!" He jogged over to a box on the far wall of the room where six more of the strange medallion they had found earlier hung. He seized one and put it around his neck. He threw his arms up in the air and cried a triumphant, "Haha!"

But nothing happened.

Tucker looked around and slowly lowered his arms, looking defeated, "Nothing, huh?"

"No, but nice bling." Sam told him, walking over to get a closer look at the view screen they had fallen out of.

Danny walked over to Tucker and took the medallion in his hand, closely examining it. "I don't like this." He commented as he stared at the gear shaped object.

"You're going to like this even less." He heard Sam say from behind him.The boys joined Sam at the viewer, where an older looking ghost with flaming white hair, tinted blue skin and glowing red eyes was laughing and throwing ectoblasts at screaming people and buildings. He wore a suit that sported a black and white color scheme as well as a familiar DP symbol.  A label on the screen read FUTURE: 10 YEARS. "I think I'm seeing your future. And you're kind of a jerk."

Danny watched as the ghost, or 'future Danny', was surrounded by tanks, helicopters, and police cars. He didn't even look impressed as he inhaled sharply and released a wave of sound through a scream that wiped out the lot of them. "Okay, you're really a jerk." Sam finished.

But Danny ignored her and pushed her out of the way of the screen, amazement on his face. "Wow, what is that?" He asked excitedly, "Some kind of ghostly wail? What a cool power!" He turned to his friends who were frowning at him. Danny quickly backtracked, "...If it weren't being used for evil!"

Tucker turned to Skulktech and began typing away on his PDA, "Let's see if this future boy knows any more about--" But before Tucker could finish, Skulktech's body became engulfed in a bluewhite glow. It raised off the ground before being thrown into the portal where the three teens had just been watching Danny's future self. "I didn't do that!" Tucker quickly said.

"I did." Came a voice from above. Danny, Sam and Tucker looked up to see a middle-aged, purple cloaked ghost descending from the darkness. "I sent him back to his own time. Or, should I say," To the teens surprise in the middle of the ghost speaking his appearance changed from that of an adult man to an elderly man, "forward to his own time. You see, for me," the ghost's appearance changed again, now he looked like a toddler, "time moves backwards" he shifted back into an adult, "and forwards, and--" he shifted back into his elderly form, "Oh, why am I bothering. You're fourteen." He finished.

"Who are you?" Danny shouted at him, "Where are we?"

"Introductions? Fine. I am Clockwork, Master of Time." The ghost said, switching to child form, "I've been charged with the task of eliminating your future, so that," he pointed a small gloved finger at the viewer "never happens."

In the viewer, Danny's future self picks up a tank and throws it, then tosses a few more ectoblasts around. People screamed in terror as they fled from him, making the evil future version of Danny smile.

Danny threw his arms up in the air, "You've got to be kidding me. Name one evil thing I've done!" He challenged Clockwork.

The now adult looking Clockwork smiled and pointed his staff at the viewer. In it, the teens see Jazz pulling the C.A.T. answer packet out of Danny's backpack and gasping, "Danny's a cheater!"

Seeing that his friend was in trouble, Tucker challenged, "Bet you can't find two!"

In the viewer, the image of a sobbing Jazz turns into Dark Danny standing triumphantly over the wreckage of a city street, decorated liberally with fallen helicopters. Clockwork stared angrily down at the group, "How about two thousand." He said, shifting to his child form.

Danny walked up to Clockwork and shouted, "I don't have to sit here and explain myself to you! I'm going ghost!" White rings formed around his waist and spread across his body. Once his transformation was complete Danny flew at the adult Clockwork.

"Time out!" Clockwork shouted as he pointed his now-glowing staff at Danny, who slows and freezes in place just short of it, then rewinds to fly backward, land, and return to his human form.

"I'm going ghost!" Danny shouts, then becomes confused. "Whoa," he said, putting a hand on his head, "Serious déjà vu." Danny transformed once more into his alter ego and flew at Clockwork.

The Master of Time slammed his hand down on a button at the top of his staff and shouted, with a grin, "Time out!"Danny slowed way down, and Clockwork swooped off to the side, out of his reach. "Time in!" He exclaimed. Danny resumed normal speed, his momentum carrying him through the spot Clockwork previously occupied and slamming him into the clock tower bell. Clockwork rewinds and forwards Danny, causing him to collide with the bell a few times. "I could do this all day," he mused as he shifted to his elderly form, "but, I do have a schedule to keep." He pressed the button one last time and freed Danny from the time loop, causing the teen to fall to the ground. Clockwork removed a scythe from the hands of a reaper statue and swooped down to Danny.

"Danny! Look out!" Sam and Tucker cried in unison.

Danny quickly shook off the rest of his dizziness as he saw Clockwork approaching. He zipped out of the way just in time and the scythe came down on the gear Danny had been resting against, shattering it. Clockwork aimed his staff at the teen, freezing him in time.

"Hey, wait!" Tucker said, "Why would he freeze time for Danny and not for us?" The technogeek turned to Sam and noticed she wasn't moving. "Hey, Sam?" He said, waving a hand in front of her face. She didn't respond. "Hm." He muttered as he looked down at the medallion around his neck. He took the medallion in his hands and smiled, "I knew these medallions were good for something. It's like a Get Out of Time Free card!" Tucker ran back over to the box on the wall and grabbed a pair of medallions.

Meanwhile, Clockwork loomed over the frozen white-haired teen. "Time's up, Ghost Boy." He raised his scythe to bring it down on Danny, but felt it get yanked out of his hands instead. He turned, shocked to see the scythe in the hands of the small, dark skinned teen.

"Sorry, no sudden death overtime in this game." He said triumphantly as he threw the medallions to the right and left. The first one lands around Sam's neck; she blinked then assumed a fighting stance. The second one lands around Danny's and he abruptly resumes his flight trajectory.

"Huh? What happened?" Danny questioned as he flew over to his friends, landing between them.

Sam smiled and held up her medallion, "We leveled the playing field. Just get the bad guy!" She said, gesturing to the scowling Clockwork.

The Master of Time's eyes narrowed. "You three have seen too much. You must be eliminated before," Clockwork shifted to his elderly form, "you permanently alter the timestream."Five ghost soldiers all looking like Clockwork from different eras appeared one by one, fully armed. The trio gasped at the sight before them, knowing instantly that they stood no chance against the six Clockworks. The original Clockwork shifted to his adult form and smiled, "Nowhere to run, children."

Danny glanced back at the viewer, seeing the destroyed wasteland and a thought formed in his mind. It wasn't the best option but it was better than facing the ghosts in the room. He turned back to Clockwork and shouted, "Nowhere but the future!"

Clockwork watched as Danny grabbed his friends and dove into the portal he had sent Skulktech 9.9 through, and smirked. As he shifted from his adult form in his toddler form Clockwork looked upon the portal leading to the home of Danny's future self, "Then let's see if you have what it takes to face that future."

A/N: Hey guys, sorry about the long wait for an update. Things have been crazy for a while and are still going to be crazy for the next two weeks. So I can't promise any speedy updates. I will try not to have the next update  take as long as this one did but I can't guarantee it. I do hope you will forgive and be patient with me. Thank you and, as always I'll see you all in the next one!

(Also I know that none of the previews I gave in the last chapter made it into this one but that is because this one was getting too long so I decided to divide into two parts)
