Third Person POV
After spending about a week in the hospital, Danny was released into the custody of Jack and Madeline Fenton. The paperwork was filled, the arrangements were made and Danny had a room at his new home. The raven haired teen smiled as he exited his room and went downstairs for his first breakfast with his new family.
The first day he had arrived he had met his adoptive sister Jazz. She was two years older than he was, being 16 years old, had long orange hair and bright, aqua blue eyes. Despite Danny doing his best to be nice, he couldn't help but groan whenever she began to ramble on about her psychology studies and her methods to try and help him regain his memories. But the teen knew she meant well. If only she would start acting like a sister instead of a second mother...
Danny arrived in the kitchen and sat down at the table beside his sister, who currently had her nose buried in another one of her books. When Danny sat down, Maddie turned away from the stove to smile at him. She walked over with a plate of pancakes in her hand, placing it in front of him and lightly kissing his forehead. Danny was surprised by the affection but gained a crooked smile. Even if he never remembered his old family, he didn't think living with the Fenton's would be that bad. They seemed nice enough, if not... excitable at times. The raven haired teen had been informed of the family's... unique... business, and he had to admit it was kind of crazy. 'Professional Ghost Hunters'? What kind of a job was that? It sounded almost as crazy as a circus clown.
The fork in Danny's hand fell to the table with a clatter, causing the attention of Jazz and Maddie to instantly turn to him. "Danny? Are you alright?" Jazz whispered as Maddie walked over to the pair. Circus clown... it sounded so familiar in his mind. Like he said it all the time. Was it a clue to his past? Did he go to the circus a lot with his real family? Danny was snapped out of his thoughts by someone shaking his shoulder. It was Jazz. "Danny? Helloooo? Are you okay?"
"Huh? Oh... y-yeah. Just got lost in thought I guess," Danny mumbled as he picked up his fork and finished off his pancakes.
"You two best be getting ready for school," Maddie said, heading back to the stove.
The large frame of Jack Fenton entered the kitchen, a wide grin on his face. "Hey, Danny-boy. Want me to drive you to school?" He asked cheerfully.
Before Danny could even open his mouth to reply, Jazz did. "Actually, if it was alright with you guys, I though I could drive Danny to school."
Maddie and Jack shared a look, before nodding their approval. Jazz smiled and pulled Danny out of the kitchen with her. The two siblings ran upstairs to grab their bags. Danny rushed back into his room. It wasn't much, just a wood floor, blue walls, a small bed in the middle of the room with a nightstand, a computer desk on the side of the room and dressers on the opposite side. A purple backpack sat on his bed. Grabbing the bag, Danny rushed downstairs, followed by Jazz. Believe it or not, he was sort of excited for his first day at school. Meeting new people, seeing new places. Maybe he might recognize someone or vice versa. The odds were highly unlikely but Danny was being optimistic.
With a quick goodbye to the elder Fenton's, Jazz and Danny piled into her car. Starting the engine, she drove towards Casper High. After a few minutes of silence, Jazz spoke. "How you feeling?"
Danny shrugged, "Fine, I guess." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Maybe a little nervous."
Jazz lightly chuckled, "Going to a new school can do that to you." The light turned red and the car came to a stop. Jazz turned slightly to look at Danny, "Look, I just wanted to give you a few words of advice. There are some really mean kids at this school. They might decide to make you their new punching bag, so just ignore them. Don't let them draw you in, okay? I don't want to see my little brother hurt."
Danny's eyes widened when she had said 'little brother'. "Did... Did you just call me your..." The teen trailed off.
Jazz smiled at him as the light turned green. The car moved forward once more. "We've only known each other for a day, but I really care about you Danny. Mom and dad never had any more kids after me and I've always wanted a younger sibling." She stole a glance at the boy. He was turning red in the face. "It's almost like you've always been a part of this family."
Danny lost his redness and raised an eyebrow at the girl, "As long as I don't become a ghost hunter I think I'll be just fine."
Jazz laughed at the comment, "I bet they're already fitting you for a HAZMAT suit." She added.
Danny snickered, "So that's what all those measurements were for." Jazz laughed harder and Danny joined her. The two continued to make jokes all the way to Casper High. When Jazz pulled into the parking lot, Danny suddenly felt like he was going to be sick.
"C'mon Danny, it can't be that bad. It's just like homeschooling. Except we aren't at home and there's a lot more kids."
Danny looked up at the murky figure, "That doesn't make me feel any better," he said sourly. The murky figure chuckled and began to walk away from him, and the teen raced after it.
Danny was snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of a car door slamming. Who was that murky figure talking to him? Someone he knew? Was that a memory?Or was it just his imagination? Too many questions, and no answers to any of them. Danny sighed and shook away the thoughts. He grabbed his bag and stepped out of the car. Jazz stood beside him as he slammed the door closed. With a press of a button, Jazz locked the car and the two walked up to the school. Danny walked close to Jazz, timidly looking at his surroundings. He saw many students hanging out in clusters. There appeared to be three main groups. Populars, consisting of jocks and pretty girls, Losers, consisting of band geeks and nerds, and a small group off to the side of miscellaneous students. "Mom and dad already signed you up for classes," Jazz said, "Your first period is English with Mr.Lancer. He's pretty tough, but a good teacher." Danny simply nodded in reply.
They entered the large school and Jazz led Danny through the long hallways to his first class. As they arrived, a warning bell rang, signaling five minutes before first period. Jazz gave Danny a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "You'll be fine. I'll see you at lunch okay?" Danny nodded and Jazz walked away. The teen entered the classroom and quickly took a seat at the back corner of the room as other students began to trickle in. The final bell rang and everyone took their seats as an overweight and balding man entered the room. Danny instantly assumed that this was Mr.Lancer.
"Good morning class, I hope you all had a good weekend," the man said in a monotone voice. Mutters of replies could be heard. "Wonderful. Now it appears we have a new student joining us today." Danny's head whipped up as everyone's eyes were now on him. "Mr.... Danny Fenton, correct?" Danny nodded. "Would you like to tell us a few things about yourself?"
"Not particularly, no," the teen responded quietly. He shifted in his seat, uncomfortable with all the pairs of eyes on him.
"It's part of showbiz Danny, people are gonna stare at you." The murky figured laughed, bumping against Danny' shoulder.
Danny frowned, "I know that, but they look at me like I'm some kind of freak."
The murky figure shook their head, "If anything, they're the freaks Danny. Now c'mon, we're up!"
"-ton? Mr.Fenton!" Mr.Lancer's voice cut through Danny's thoughts. The shout startled him and he jumped out of his seat, falling onto the ground. The class burst into laughter around him as Danny's cheeks burned red. He crawled back into his seat, wishing he could just turn invisible and disappear. But alas, he couldn't. So he would suffer the torture of his teasing classmates alone. Mr.Lancer continued on with the lesson and Danny did his best to pay attention but it's kind of hard to do that when you're trying to piece together your memory and avoid spitballs from a blond haired jock. The teen sighed, folding his arms on the desk and resting his head on his arms. School was going to be hell.
IT IS I! THE GREAT AND POWERFUL LINE BREAK! BASK IN MY GREAT AND POWERFULNESS! NOW CONTINUE READING!
After what felt like forever, the bell rang signaling the end of class. Danny packed up his books and rushed out of the classroom. In his hurry, he ran straight into the blond jock who had been throwing spitballs at him earlier. Danny was knocked onto the ground and the large boy whipped around angrily. A sly grin appeared on his face when he caught sight of the small boy on the ground. He leaned down and pulled Danny to his feet by the front of his shirt. "Well, well, well, look what we have here. The newest loser on the block. Maybe you should watch where you're going next time Fenturd." The jock high-fived his buddies at the clever nickname while Danny just rolled his eyes.
"Over-confident, relies on brute strength, obvious low intelligence. Use size against him," the voice whispered in Danny's head. He was surprised to hear it after nothing but silence all day. Fighting the bully was the last thing on Danny's to do list, but for some reason, his body betrayed his mind. In one swift move, Danny yanked his shirt out of the jock's grasp and swept out his legs.
The larger boy fell onto the ground and his friends rushed to his aid. When the blond boy got back onto his feet, he was very angry. "You're dead Fentoenail." The jock lunged at Danny.
"Duck," the voice commanded. Danny ducked and dove through the bully's legs, letting one of his feet drag and tripping the bully once more. He fell face first onto the ground as Danny stood up. A crowd had begun to form around the two boys and the soft chant of "Fight. Fight. Fight," could be heard.
"Beat him to a pulp Dash!" Another jock cheered from the sidelines.
Dash rose from the ground, angrier than before. "Target is enraged. Brace for wild hits." The voice advised. Before Danny could react, Dash swung at him and landed a punch to the jaw. A sickening crack could be heard as Danny fell to the ground. Tears burned his eyes and blood dripped from his mouth.
"To Kill A Mockingbird! What is going on here?!" Mr.Lancer bust through the crowd and spotted the two boys. His eyes narrowed, "Explain. Now."
Dash leaped to the explanation, "I was trying to be friendly to the new kid and he took a swing at me! I was only defending myself!" Danny tried to speak up to defend himself, but his jaw was in so much pain he could barely move it.
Mr.Lancer shook his head, "I'm disappointed Mr.Fenton. I expected better from you, with your sister's reputation. I'm afraid I'm going to have to-"
"Wait just a minute!"
Everyone turned to two kids who pushed their way to the front of the crowd. A geeky looking African-American boy wearing a red beret, glasses, a long sleeved yellow shirt and green cargo pants. The girl had pale skin, violet eyes, short black hair, a black crop top, purple tights, a plaid skirt and black combat boots. Danny recognized them from his class. They sat just a few seats away from him. The girl was the one who had shouted. "Dash was the one who threw the first punch. Danny never laid a hand on him!" That was technically true, he had only used his feet.
Mr.Lancer frowned and turned to Dash, "Is this true Mr.Baxter?" Dash looked shocked and turned to his friends for help, but the crowd had quickly dispersed as second period was about to begin soon. The overweight teacher sighed, "Go to the office Mr.Baxter. I will deal with you later."
Dash put up a protest but was eventually herded away by Mr.Lancer. The teacher turned to the small group of teens still in the hall. "Everyone get to class. And you two," Mr.Lancer said to the girl and boy standing beside Danny, "please take him to the nurse's office."
The two nodded and turned their attention to Danny. The boy offered his hand to Danny, which he graciously accepted. He was a little dizzy from the punch but the girl and boy helped steady him. He used them as supports as they walked him to the nurse's office. "Fank you fer helping me," Danny managed to say, despite the pain in his jaw.
"Don't mention it dude," the boy replied. "Hey, it's Danny Fenton right?" Danny nodded. "Cool, I'm Tucker Foley, master of anything tech related."
"And I'm Sam Manson, resident goth," the girl said with a slight smile.
Danny allowed a small smile to appear on his face before he dropped it due to the pain. It looks like he just made some new friends.
A/N: Hope you all enjoyed that. I'm lucky if this actually posts because Wattpad is being stupid and keeps glitching out this chapter. So before I lose all this work I'll quit rambling and see you all in the next one!
