Chapter 10: Welcome to Amity Park
A/N: Wow, it's been forever since I last updated this. Well, before the angry mobs get here I better get started (P.S. Please forgive me if this chapter sucks, I'm sick today but felt like writing)
Third Person POV
A raven haired boy stumbled through the streets of the unfamiliar city. He was limping and his back hurt. There was a small cast on his right arm that his eyes kept drifting to. The boy wanted to know how he gained these injuries but for some reason, a small, deep voice in his head kept telling him to run, to keep moving, to not let anyone stop him. So he listened to the voice, and made his way into an alley. The voice yelled at him not to stop, but he was so tired. He would rest, if only for a minute. Taking in deep breaths, the boy tried to collect his thoughts. He didn't remember how he got injured and he didn't know where he was. Hell, he didn't even know who he was.
*Flashback*
The boy slowly woke up in a strange bed and instantly gripped with panic. He noticed his injuries and felt a sharp pain in his head. A beeping noise kept going off beside him and the boy saw a heart monitor. He was wearing a hospital gown and black bangs hung in his face. The blue eyed boy heard a voice outside his door, and fear had filled his mind. Was this the person who caused the injuries? Were they going to hurt him again? His questions were answered when an older looking woman entered the room. The monitor began to beep quicker now and the woman's eyes widened. "You have no need to be afraid kiddo, I'm not going to hurt you. Just going to once more checkup." A voice whispered in the boy's head to not trust anyone.
The boy's breath became quicker and quicker and his heart was racing. The woman's expression turned to worry and she slowly approached him, "It's okay, you're safe. There's no need to-" The boy couldn't take it anymore, he was terrified. So, pushing through the pain movement brought him, the boy got off the bed and weakly charged past the woman towards the door. He barreled into the door, slamming it open, and causing the older female to shriek in surprise. "Danny?! What are you doing?!" She shouted, and that caused the boy to grow even more afraid.
Ignoring her cries, the boy raced away from her and wound up in what looked like a waiting room. He scrambled about, like a wild animal trapped in a cage, knocking over chairs, spilling magazines and crashing into walls, desperately trying to escape. "Stop right now young man before you injure yourself further!" The woman scolded. It was then the boy noticed a window. He raced towards it without a second thought, flinging it open. "NO!" The woman screamed as the raven haired boy dove out the window.
*End Flashback*
So that brings us to here. A scared, wounded boy wearing a hospital gown, in an alley, with no memories and fueled with fear. He panted, trying to slow the heartbeat that could be heard in his ears, when a man emerged from the shadows. The man was unshaven, his clothes were in tatters, and he was covered in filth. When his eyes fell upon the small boy, he chuckled darkly. The man slowly stalked over to the boy, licking his dry lips. The boy's baby blue eyes saw the man and his heart began to race once more. "Wuzza 'ittle boy 'ike you, doin' in a place 'ike dis?" The man slurred, obviously drunk. He continued to stalk towards the boy.
'Target is intoxicated. Sweep out legs and leap over for tactical retreat,' the voice mused in the boy's head. Before he could understand what the voice meant, the man was on him, grabbing the hospital gown and pulling the boy towards him. The man's breath reeked of alcohol and the boy couldn't help but gag. But then, something clicked in his mind. Using his non-injured leg, he swung it at the man's legs, effectively tripping him. The man fell backwards and the boy pulled his hospital gown out of the man's grip, flipping over him and scrambling out of the alley. His heart was racing and his breaths were quick and short and he limped as fast as he could away from the alley. How did he do that? How did he know how to do that? The boy found himself near a large convention center, with a giant ghost balloon floating above a large sign that read 'Ghost-A-Palooza!'
"'Ay baby eyes! C-come back 'ere! Ol' Joey ain't done wif ya!" The boy heard the man's slurred voice shout. The boy saw a large silver and gray vehicle with the trunk wide open. Not wanting to be caught by the drunk and dangerous man, he limped over to the trunk and climbed inside. Grabbing the top of the trunk, he slammed it down and the boy was enveloped in darkness. He heard the man continue to shout, demanding he come out, but there was no way in Hell that the boy was going to leave that trunk until he was sure the man was gone. After what felt like fifteen minutes of hiding, the raven haired boy heard the car engine start.
'Get out now! Never let yourself be caught!' The voice shouted. The boy pressed against the roof of the trunk but it wouldn't budge. He tried kicking, pushing, slamming, but nothing worked. He resigned to laying down, and waiting for whatever would happen next. 'I'm disappointed,' the voice hissed.
HELLO! Amazing Line Break here! Hope you're enjoying the chapter!
After about ten hours trapped in that small, dark trunk, the boy was beginning to panic. What if they never found him? What if these people would hurt him too? What if he died in that damn trunk? Thoughts raced through his mind, consuming him with fear. 'Keep calm,' the deep voice whispered, 'with a calm mind, any problem's solution can be found.' The boy didn't know who this voice was or why it kept telling him odd things, but it hasn't wronged him yet. So the boy calmed down, and began to figure out what to do next. While he was formulating a plan, the car jerked to a stop. The boy heard mumbling coming from outside, and it was growing closer.
"Jack, could you please unpack the trunk while I unload the gear?" A faint woman's voice said.
"Sure thing Mads," a cheerful male voice replied. The boy heard something bang against the top of the trunk and then the lid popped open. The boy shielded his eyes from the sudden light and he heard the male voice gasp. "GHOST!" He shouted and the boy heard the whine of a blaster being charged. He squinted his eyes and the boy found himself staring down the barrel of an odd looking gun.
"Jack, wait!" The woman's voice shouted as the boy heard fast footsteps approaching. The gun was lowered and the boy could faintly see the outline of a large man wearing a bright orange jumpsuit. As his vision adjusted to the light, the boy saw a female standing beside the man in a tight blue jumpsuit with the hood pulled over her head. She removed the hood to reveal a short head of auburn hair and purple eyes. A black gloved hand covered her mouth as she gasped, "It's not a ghost Jack! It's a boy!"
The man, Jack, put away the odd gun and turned to the woman. "What should we do Mads?"
"Call 911, we need to get this boy to a hospital. Quickly!" The woman said. Jack nodded and raced away, while she extended her arms to pick up the boy. He tried to struggle against her, but found himself extremely weak. "It's okay, I won't hurt you. I'm getting you out of that cramped trunk," the woman soothed. "How did you even get in there?"
The boy mumbled something about a man and hiding but that was all. He felt himself slipping in and out of consciousness and a flurry of voices around him. As he finally succumbed to the darkness, the deep voice in his head muttered, 'Secret identity.'
I AM THE ALL MIGHTY LINE BREAK! BOW BEFORE ME! NOW CONTINUE READING!
The boy woke up once more, in a strange bed, the beeping of a heart monitor beside him. He was wearing a new hospital gown and an IV was sticking out of his arm. A nurse entered the room, carrying a clipboard, and smiled when she saw the boy, "Oh good, you're awake." The boy tried to get out of the bed but the nurse rushed over and gently pushed him down. "Now, now, young man. You're in no condition to be moving. Not at least until I ask you a few questions." The nurse seemed so friendly, that the boy did as he was told and lied back down on the bed. The nurse smiled, "Good. Alright so I guess we'll start with names. Mine's Natalie, what's yours?"
The boy racked his brain for his name. Wasn't there something the old woman had called him when he first woke up? David... Damian... DANNY! "M-my name's Danny... I think," the boy whispered, his voice cautious.
Natalie tilted her head, "You think?"
The boy nodded, "Some lady called me that."
Natalie scribbled on her clipboard, "Alright, what did this woman look like?" She asked, her voice calm.
He scratched his head, "Um, gray hair, older woman, wearing a doctors coat I think." He mentally slapped himself for being so useless. How vague of a description could he give?
Natalie nodded, "Do you remember what happened after that?"
Danny returned the nod, "I escaped, and wandered the streets. A... A man attacked me and I ran away. T-then I.... uh."
The nurse patted his knee gently, "Take your time honey, don't force it."
Danny swallowed, "I hid in a trunk. And then the car started and I remember two people finding me. Then I woke up here."
Natalie nodded again, scribbling on her clipboard, "So the man and woman did not force you into their trunk?"
Danny furrowed his brow, "N-no, I think they helped me."
Natalie stood up, "Alright, thank you Danny. Now there are some people who want to see you." Want to see him? Who does he know? Do they know who he really is? Natalie left the room and, after a muffled conversation on the other side of the door, the man and woman who found him in the trunk entered. Danny was surprised to see them, and expected them to be mad at him. But instead, the woman rushed over and quickly cupped the boy's cheeks in her hands.
"How are you doing sweetie?" She asked, her voice full of concern. Danny's body went rigid at the contact, but quickly relaxed. Her touch was almost... motherly.
"F-fine," he replied. "Who are you?"
The woman smiled, "My name is Maddie Fenton. This is my husband Jack. We found you in our trunk and wanted to make sure you were okay." Danny was confused. They were complete strangers. Why would they care about him?
Jack stepped forward, "The nurse told us you don't remember much. You know anything about your parents son?" His voice boomed. Danny flinched at the word 'son' and shook his head no.
Maddie frowned, removing her hands from the boy's face and grasping his hands on the bed, "Well, since you don't have any parents.... Would you like to stay with us?"
Danny's eyes widened. He looked to Jack who nodded at him and smiled. They wanted him? But they literally just met. Maybe it was something to do with pity. Or maybe they were just that nice. Either way, it sounded better than an orphanage or wherever else he might be put. So, Danny nodded in agreement and Maddie smiled, "Wonderful. I just know you'll get along just fine with our daughter Jazz."
Danny didn't know about this Jazz girl, but he smiled at the fact he was going to get a place to stay. Maddie and Jack got up to leave but Danny called out to them. "Wait!" The two adults turned to face the small boy. "Where am I?"
Maddie smiled sadly at him, "You're in Amity Park, sweetie."
A/N: Yeah, this one is still kinda short and boring but the good stuff is coming soon I swear! Thanks for reading and I'll see you all in the next one! (P.S. I just want to alert the followers of my 'I'm Adopted?' fic. I will be un-publishing it soon. Don't worry it won't be forever! I'm just going to do some major editing on it in preparation for the upcoming final chapter, cause I went back to re-read it and I realize it's kinda crappy and lacks a lot of what I intended to write. Thanks!)
