31. Hospital
Ed was sitting in the Lobby at Jackson South, on 152nd Street. Princess’s Daddy wasn’t a happy camper.
Once Georgia explained to him everything that has been going on he was in shock.
Thomas was trying to focus on the news
but he couldn’t. His eyes were so red you couldn’t see his pupils.
Georgia was pacing around, the Pepsi soda going warm in her hand. She tried to sip it but she felt like throwing it up.
They have been waiting for six hours, and nothing.
When Thomas went to the circulation desk, asking for a check up on Princess, the
nurse didn’t offer him any information.
Ed was about to go crazy. He loved Princess with all of his heart. Georgia decided to sit down.
She wondered about Tina. She was brought to the very hospital by the ambulance. For some reason she really didn’t care if she was all right or not.
She worried about the baby.
Ed looked at Georgia. “I hope you’re happy, you murderous bitch!"
“No, Ed, I’m not,” Georgia snapped, a few people listening in on their conversation since there wasn’t anything exciting on TV.
Thomas said, “Ed, no one is happy about this.”
Princess’s father stood up, walking outside. He wasn’t in the right frame of mind to hear their bickering.
His daughter was pregnant and he didn’t
have a clue. Finding all this out in one night did a number on him.
“You should have thought about that before ya’ll ganged up on a pregnant woman. Now she could lose her baby.”
“I feel bad, man. Trust me I do. I love Princess.”
“Really?” said Ed, standing up and getting in his face. “Really? You love her?”
Thomas looked up at him, trying to remain calm. “I am confused, Ed.”
“Confused?”
Georgia said, “So am I. I’m losing my husband. I’m losing my marriage. I don’t know if I’ll ever forgive you and Princess for what you did.”
“OK, Georgia. I fucked up. There. Move on.
Princess is in the hospital. Because of you and your uncontrollable anger.”
“I had to make her pay.”
“And you see what payments can do, right?”
“Chile, Don’t try to chastise mme in front of people.”
“Fuck you, Georgia!”
Her mouth fell open. She couldn’t believe her marriage has resorted to this.
“Whatever, Ed.”
