22. Ed and Georgia
Ed and Georgia weren’t looking at each other. He has made several attempts to talk to her, but Georgia shut down. What he didn’t know was that she relived what she went through with Eduardo. All the hurt, all the pain and embarrassment was getting to her, slowly breaking her down.
Her eyes were out of focus. Does Princess feel better than me, Ed? This is my fault. I should have left you years ago. But no. I believed in forgiveness, giving you a second chance.
“Georgia, Baby.” He reached over and took her hand, squeezing it fondly.
She didn’t squeeze it back. “What, Ed.”
“We can make this work.”
“How?” She looked at him, trying to keep the sting from her words. “How are we going to make this work? You cheated on me with my best friend. I feel betrayed, man.”
He leaned over and kissed her cheek and she wiped it off. “I don’t want my cheek smelling like Princess’s pussy.”
His mouth fell open. “Baby, you’re being
unreasonable.”
She glared at him. “Unreasonable? You stick your trashy dick in another whore and I’m being unreasonable?”
“Yes. Baby, I’m not perfect.”
“No, you’re not. But you have common sense.”
“Georgia.”
“Am I packing my shit or are you going to pack yours?”
“What are you saying?”
She snatched her hand back, turning her back on him, pressing her feet on the floor. Her head hanging low, she remembered. Slitting her wrist after swallowing the pills. Her father kicking down the bathroom door. Rushing her to the hospital.
“I want you to pack your things. If you don’t, then I will. I will go live with my cousin until I decide if I want to divorce you or not.”
Ed jumped out of bed and raced around it, getting in her face. “You can’t leave me.”
She picked up the phone and called Princess. It rung a few times. Ed sat on the chair, looking into his wife’s face
Too much has been done to turn back.
Georgia couldn’t stand the sight of him. Men were liars. They couldn’t be trusted. They were pricks.
I gotta get out of here. I can’t stay another second. He can have the house, everything. Maybe he’ll give it to Princess.
How could she betray me? I loved her. I would give her the world. She was my sister from another mother.
"What’s up, Georgia?”
“Could you come over? I want to ask you
something.”
“Are you ok?” Princess asked, tapping Thomas’s leg. He looked into her face, wondering who was on the phone.
“Yes. I’m good. Can you come over now? I would appreciate it very much. And bring Thomas.”
Ed lowered his head.
“I’m so glad you found true love. You deserve it, Girl.”
Princess kissed Thomas’s lips. “Thank you. We’re on our way.”
Georgia kissed through the phone, tears falling from her cheeks. “See you soon.”
She slowly replaced the receiver.
