20. Ed and Georgia
The force of Georgia’s words knocked the earth from beneath him. He had to sit down and shake his head for a second.
Damn it.
Damn it. I fucked up. I fucked up badly.
Gotta do damage control.
Ed reached across the table and took Georgia’s hands. He rubbed the top of them with his hairy thumbs.
Damn. How could I have slipped and called her Princess? I wonder what she’s thinking.
Thank God she doesn’t know that Princess and I had sex. She’s all I ever think about.
She pulled her hands away and ran a shaky palm through her hair. He didn’t understand what was going
on.
“You smell nice, Ed,” she said. “I see you’re using Dove soap now.”
He smiled, remembering when he first used it. It was when he fucked Princess in the shower in the guest room a day after his party.
Princess had the hottest piece of pussy in Dade County. From day one he always wanted her.
He really wanted to date Princess but she wouldn’t give him the time of day.
And being married to a woman he didn’t love was the true crime but he could learn to love her.
“Ed.”
He snapped out of the daydream. “Oh, yea. I use the soap now. Smells good, huh?”
“Yup. When did you start using it?”
“A few weeks ago.”
“A few months ago?”
“Weeks.”
“It’s funny. When I wanted you to use the soap you vehemently denounced it. And now you are using it? What was the catalyst?” Georgia’s eyes rose. “Something I should know?”
“No, baby. I use the soap now. Big deal.”
“You’re right. It is a big damn deal. And call me Georgia. I am not your baby anymore, Ed. I haven’t been your baby in months. Tell me. What made you start using it?”
Princess. “You.”
“Me?”
“Yes. I got tired of you bringing it up so I started using it. There. Happy?”
“No. I’m not.”
“What can I do to make it better?”
“Nothing, Ed.” She stood up from the table and he rose also, walking around the table and wrapping his arms around her.
She clammed up and he felt it.
He slowly pulled away from her. He slid his hands in his pockets to hide the fact that they were shaking.
“You just cringed when I hugged you.”
“I did? I didn’t notice.”
“Yes you did. Now I know something is wrong.”
“It is, Man. It is.”
“What?”
I can’t hide it anymore. “Let’s just say the morning you started using Dove soap I found your wet boxers by the shower.”
“OK.” He was shaking his head.
“And?”
“Princess’s earring was next to it. The morning after your party.”
God!
She knows!
