Our wonderful team of judges will be looking at 3 elements in your novelette:

CHARACTERIZATION

Are your characters realistic? Interesting? Relatable? Do they have a backstory? Do they have flaws or disbeliefs? Basically, are your characters well-developed? Give readers a reason to feel for them or think about them.

ATMOSPHERE

Does your story make readers feel part of the world? Does it feel like it could be real or perhaps like a dream to get lost in? Make it difficult to stop reading!

PLOT

Does your plot make sense? Is it a compelling narrative? Is it surprising, meaningful, simple, or complicated? Is the resolution worth reading the story? Write something to remember.

On top of this, we will be looking at your overall writing skill. Typos will be overlooked, but we do ask that you have a proper understanding of the English language, clear sentence structure, a coherent story, etc.

And, of course, you are required to use the keywords.

We'll be using a 10-star rating system to judge your stories and you'll be able to ask for a report card after the contest. There will be a grand winner, a 2nd place winner, and a 3rd place winner.
