Chapter One, New House, New Life

Chapter One, New House, New Life

It took over a week but they had finally, finally arrived in New Orleans and Evie was bouncing in her seat with excitement as Kol drove through town.
"Calm down love." Kol laughed, resting one hand on her thigh just below her coral dress. She looked beautiful in the dress, brown boots, the denim jacket he'd gifted her, the necklace from Kai and half her blonde curly hair up in a fishtail braid with the rest falling down to her waist.
"I'm sorry." Evie apologised, but that still didn't stop her leg from bouncing underneath Kol's hand causing the Wild Original to smile lovingly at his Gemini Witch. "I'm just so excited! I can't believe we finally get to have a place of our own without any family drama." She sighed blissfully.

"Ah, well there is something you should know. When I was purchasing a house here, as it's the best place to find out a way to help Kai, I found out a vampire Rebekah loved, and who we thought had been killed by our father, is actually here and running the French Quarter. I've spoken to him and let him know I'm moving back here with my mate who is a powerful Gemini witch as we want to get away from the family drama from both our families but also find a way to help your eldest brother Kai. Now, he runs the witches here almost the way the Germans did but he has a reason. They were sacrificing children to strengthen their magic. I'm not saying what he's doing is right but neither were the witches, as I was saying: he's agreed to let us stay here as long as he runs the vampires and we don't use your magic to overthrow him as he's heard of you from others and knows you can without breaking a sweat." Kol said, taking her hand this time and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"He and the other vampires won't bother us as long as we don't bother them in a negative way, and we can use magic to find ways to help Kai. Anyone you need to help do this will be pardoned from the magic ban he has invoked, another condition is we don't tell Nik and the others he's alive which is a given as we don't want any part of their games."
"So, it's all going to be okay?" Evie couldn't help but ask worriedly.
"Of course darling." Kol assured, kissing the back of her hand. "I've never lied to you and I don't intend to start now. I love you."
"I love you too Kol." Evie smiled, leaning over to kiss his cheek.

It was twenty minutes later when Evie gasped at the sight before her as Kol pulled into the driveway of a beautiful white wooden lasted house, large bay windows, a slate grey roof and with the most beautiful garden surrounded by the iconic white picket fence. It looked like something out of a storybook.
"Do you like it?" Kol asked, smirking at the look on her face.
"I love it!" She squealed happily.
"Wait till you see the inside." Kol laughed, getting out and racing around to open her door for her. "Let's go on a tour." Kol smirked, leading Evie into the house. She was astounded by the rustic, cottage beauty she got just from the entrance and she loved it. The entryway had exposed wooden beams, a window seat with a hidden shoe rack within, a mahogany dresser with a vase of her favourite flowers (sunflowers and blue Iris and pink carnations) on top, a large white cabinet facing the stairs holding a multitude of books.

Walking past the stairs and into the rest of the house led to first a good sized living room on the right hand side. The walls at the back and front of the room were a dark grey while the other two were white. At the back of the room a flat screen TV was mounted on the wall, large mirrors on either side, and beneath that was an oak cabinet that held DVDs, the sky box and a PlayStation 4 to watch the DVDs on. Large windows showed the beautiful garden while also letting in a lot of light had light grey curtains pulled back, the flooring was of a coloured oak laminate with a round patterned rug in the centre. In front of the windows was a white corner sofa with white, pink and blue cushions, opposite the sofa was two beige armchairs, and finally on top of the rug was an oak coffee table. Evie loved it, she could see herself and Kol curled up together on the sofa watching movies.

The kitchen was an open plan with the dining table. The cabinets were off-white with oak countertops and silver appliances, an island sat in the middle of the kitchen with four white chairs on either end and a French door that led out to the kitchen. Now, upstairs held two sisters' rooms, a family bathroom that held both a separate bath and shower, heated towel rack and white cabinets.

The last room on their tour was their bedroom that held a wonderful en-suite and walk-in-closet. Their bedroom walls were much like the living room but were navy blue on the east and west facing walls and white on the north and south facing walls, like much of the house there was laminate flooring with a white fluffy pattern rug at the bottom of the bed where a white sofa sat with blue and grey cushions matching the ones on the bed. Above the bed were photos of the two of them, on either side of the bed were a dark wooden bedside tables holding lamps, a chandelier hanging from the ceiling, navy bedspread with a patterned blanket across the bottom, blue and white curtains and finally a blue patterned blind beneath the curtains.

Once Evie came back into the bedroom after checking out the bathroom and walk-in-closet, noticing all their belongings were already stored in the correct places, she noticed Kol was sitting on the sofa waiting for her.
"I love it." Evie beamed, jumping on to his lap wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing a kiss to his lips.
"I'm glad." Kol beaked, pecking her lips. "I know of one way to break the house in." He smirked, wiggling his eyebrows at her as he sped them to the bed. Evie's laughter filling the room before sounds of passion sounded through the house.
