Chapter Nine, Surprise

Chapter Nine, Surprise

It had been an amazing six months for the powerful Gerard Coven. Evie and Kol's relationship had been coming along so well that Kol had asked Kai for his permission to marry his beloved, sweet little sister; which after careful consideration and much cockblocking for the couple Kai had given Kol his blessing. Despite all of Kol and Kai's arguments they did actually get along and would die for each other much as they would die for Evie, they just had a very bantering relationship. Kai and Evie's relationship was also thriving, it was like they had never been parted by their deranged and selfish family. The trio weren't the only ones who were thriving within the Coven; Davina and Marcel were as well. Now that Davina wasn't dying and being weighed down by the magic forced upon her by her deranged ex-Coven and their archaic ritual, and as for Marcel; his rule was thriving, now that he wasn't being overshadowed by the rest of the Originals.

He was fair to those who deserved it, but also harsh and unforgiving to those who deserved it as well. And may God have mercy on those who upset his ward, Davina and his best friend Evie. Davina and Marcel had also been informed of Kol's plan to propose to Evie and were excited for the couple as they deserved all the happiness in the world. But that happiness was about to be added to.
That morning Kol had decided to put his plan to treat her, on his work up to the proposal later evening, by surprising Evie by bringing her breakfast in bed, however, that didn't go exactly to plan. The moment Evie smelt the breakfast her smile (upon spotting her loving boyfriend) turned into a grimace as a wave of nausea washed over her like a tidal wave. Evie flung herself out of bed as fast as she could, running for their bathroom, and only just making it to the toilet as she collapsed to the floor hugging the bowl as she brought up last night's dinner and bile.
"Evie!!" Kol shouted, using his magic he banished the tray in his arms to the top of the dresser and used his vampire speed to rush to the love of his life.

"Are you okay, darling?" He asked concerned, rubbing her back soothingly with one hand while the other held her hair back. After dry heaving once more, Evie reached up to flush the toilet slumping back against Kol.
"I think so." Evie muttered unsurely, a sigh escaping her lips.
"Don't worry everything's going to be alright." Kol assured, kissing her temple tenderly. "I love you. Why don't you rinse your mouth out and get some more sleep." He suggested.
"But you made me breakfast and I never got to say thank you." Evie complained.
"It'll keep. You're more important to me." Kol assured her.
"I love you too. How'd I get so lucky?" Evie asked, Kol helping her up on her shaky legs as she made her way to the sink to wash her hands and scrub her teeth.
"You're my Always and Forever so I think I should be asking you that." Kol retorted, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her bare shoulder.

"And you're my Always and Forever, Kol." Evie added with a beaming smile after she'd finished.
"Right," Kol said in a business-like tone as he swept Evie off her feet and into his arms, carrying her bridal style back to their bed. "Back to bed with you."
"Will you stay with me?" Evie asked, waving her hand to cast a Preserving Charm over the food and a Charm to banish the smell of the food (so she wouldn't be sick again, hopefully) and the bile.
"Of course darling. I'll always stay with you. With luck it's just something you ate and you'll feel better when you wake up." Kol guessed, easing into bed without removing his love from his arms.
"Maybe. Night." Evie yawned, pecking Kol's lips softly. Once Evie was fast asleep Kil flicked through his phone for ideas on a different way to propose to his darling, he wasn't going to take her to the restaurant as she wasn't feeling great. But he can still make their home a romantic setting. As the thought appeared in his mind he set about putting everything into place.

When Evie next awoke she could smell roses and sunflowers and hear soft romantic music playing downstairs before she even opened her eyes. Stretching Evie climbed out of bed heading in the direction of the music downstairs. As she entered the living room she noticed a bouquet of her favourite flowers next to a medium sized, white square box with a letter from Kol attached to it lying on the sofa.

My Dearest Darling,

You mean the world to me so I thought I'd make up this treasure hunt to show you just how much I love you. With each clue there will be a note stating a reason why I love you. With the last one you'll find me.
But first here is a bouquet of your favourite flowers.

I hope you feel better. All my love
Kol

With tears in her eyes Evie set the letter aside and opened the box revealing a note stating: 'THIS LITTLE BOX HOLDS JUST A FEW CLUES TO SHOW YOU HOW MUCH I REALLY LOVE YOU. READ EACH ONE AND YOU WILL SEE WHY YOU ARE MY ALWAYS AND FOREVER!'

The next one said: 'IT'S TIME TO BEGIN THE
TRAIL TO YOUR TREASURES TO SEE THE FIRST CLUE. RED GLASSES YOU MUST LOOK THROUGH!'
Setting them both down with tears in her eyes, Evie rapidly blinked them away as she picked up the bouquet giving a quick sniff to centre herself before she slipped on the glasses to reveal her next clue, which led her to the bathroom. However, something unexpected happened as she was looking through the cupboard in the bathroom for the next clues: a happy excited smile slipping from her face as she noticed the box of Always pads. Freezing, she picked it up noticing it was still sealed; quickly she calculated the dates in her mind once, then twice and then a third time before unlocking her phone to her Flo app. She was two weeks late. The box landed on the floor with a soft thud as if slipped through her numb fingers.

'What's Kol going to say?'
'What am I going to do?!'
'I never knew my mother! I don't know how to be a mother!' Evie thought nervously, leaning on the sink as she tried to catch the breath that escaped her and calm her racing heart. It felt like it's going to beat right out of her chest. After splashing some water on her face, Evie looked up, pulling her face from the soft, fluffy towel and spotted the next clues. As her mind took in the words of love written to her it was sort of like a soothing balm had been applied to her frazzled nerves, a small but loving smile gracing her lips. She knew now no matter what happened she would have Kol beside her along with her brother.

For the next ten minutes Evie followed the clues and love notes around the house, with each one she was reminded of not only how much lol loved her but also how much she loved him, and with that reminder her resolve to tell him of their possible child when she found him. Determination setting in Evie raced from each clue to the next, taking them all with her until she ended up in their dining room where a lone plate sat in the middle of the table. Hedging closer Evie gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as the cards fluttered down around her covering the floor as tears springing to her eyes. On the plate written in dark chocolate icing with two red hearts drawn in red icing beside it were the words:
'Will you marry me?'
And sat on the plate above the icing was a black velvet ring box holding an ornate Princess-cut diamond ring. It was beautiful.
"I really hope they're tears of happiness." Kol remarked nervously from behind Evie.

"Kol!" Evie sobbed spinning around so fast she stumbled a little, Kol immediately catching her. "Yes! Yes of course I'll marry you!" She cried, pulling him down to her for a passionate kiss. Kol pulled away after a rather short kiss, to Evie's disappointment, not able to contain his excitement as he whooped happily spinning them around with a crazy, gleeful laugh. Snatching up the ring at vampire speed, Kol quickly set it on Evie's left ring finger (it was a perfect fit) as if he feared she'd change her mind if he did it any slower before he pulled her in for a longer passionate kiss that satisfied both of them.
"I have something to tell you, too." Evie panted against his lips once they pulled apart.
"What is it?" Kol asked curiously.
"There's... there's a possibility that I'm pregnant. I'm two weeks late." Evie revealed.

"Really?" Kol exclaimed excitedly. "When will we find out? And I know you didn't have the best family growing up, darling, neither of us did but I know without a doubt you'll be an amazing mother." He stated passionately.
"Thank you my love. You always know what to say," Evie said happily. "And you will be an amazing father. A thousand times better than your father or your brothers could ever hope to achieve." Kol beamed at Evie, tears in his eyes as he pressed a tender kiss to her temple. "There's a spell for it. We have what we need here, I think." Evie added, pulling Kol to the anteroom off of the library to cast the spell, both of them filled with excited but nervous anticipation.
Ten minutes later Kol's cheering could be heard from down in the street as he celebrated a new Mikaelson coming into the world in roughly eight months.
