Chapter 3

{Y/N}

With no other option you and your friends had to stay with Chloe's dad at his medical tent. It was about twenty minutes from the town if you are traveling by Jeep. Once you reached the tent, you weren't really impressed. It wasn't much, just a big white tent in the shape of a T.

On the inside there were a few cots for patients to sleep on, should they have to say for a longer period of time, examination chairs, and a couple desks with medical equipment. The other two rooms in the back are where the bedrooms where the doctors sleep.

"Dad, can we at least go to the little shops? We won't be gone long." Chloe pleaded to her dad. You didn't really want to leave unless it was because you were getting on the boat back home. The way some of those people were staring at you had you spooked.

"No, I don't want any of you out there if this ceremony crap is happening soon." Mr. Wilson said firmly.

"What if you come with us?"

"I must take care of my patients."

"What patients? This place is empty and there's no one lining up outside!"  Chloe shouted.

Mr. Wilson sighed, "I don't want you to get hurt, any of you. So, please stay here until tomorrow and then on the way to the boat we'll stop at a few places." He reasoned.

"Fine." Chloe agreed...wait, agreed? She never agrees. Her dad gave a sigh of relief.

"Thank you. You can all go put your things in the back room. There are a few beds set up for you to rest." Her dad told us.

"Excuse me sir, but you have someone who would like you to give them a check up." Jay said when he came through the tent door with an elderly woman. "If you kids will excuse me, Jay and I must take care of her."

~mini timeskip~

"Tell me again why we are doing this? We could get in serious trouble." You told Chloe as she browsed through some shirts at one of the tiny shops. Oh yes there was a reason why she agreed with her father. The sooner she ended the petty little argument the sooner we would get to sneak out.

After we unpacked she said we were going to leave through the back entrance, which is where we were. Dylan asked if we were going to take the Jeep but Devin said it would make too much noise so we need to walk.

"My dad was lying (y/n). He wasn't going to let us shop or look around at all, so we will do it really quick and get back."

"Oh come on, (y/n) what are you, chicken? Scared you're going to get caught doing something bad?" Devin mocked you.

"Well-"

"Live a little! We'll be back before he notices and if we are caught at least he can't do much here. Besides we would have already got what we came for, to shop!" Chloe had cut you off.

"Fine, but still lets be quick. I feel like we are being watched." You said, looking around.

"We probably are, I mean we are not from around here." Dylan mused.

"Yea I guess." You mumbled. 'Come on, quite worrying and have some fun. Nothing's going to happen' you thought as you decided to look through some of the shirts the store had to offer.

Then you came across a really pretty (f/c) dress. It was plain but it looked very comfortable. Sort of baggy in a good way is the best way to describe it and there was ruffles here and there. You looked at the price tag. It was sixty dollars in U.S. currency.

You made a face at the price. 'Why does it have to be pricey? I mean it's a simple plain dress.' You thought. Oh well, it might be the only thing you like so you decided to buy it.

"Hey (y/n), you ok?" Dylan asked, his face starting to turn pink.

"Yea, I'm fine. Why do you ask?" you asked while you paid for the dress.

"Well, Devin was kind of a jerk to you and I was making sure you weren't sore about it."

"No I'm ok. I'm use to his mean ways by now." You told him. Devin could almost be considered the devils child with how mean he can be but he's trying to tone it down some. You looked back towards Chloe and saw her coming your way, dragging demon with her.

"Alright, we have been gone for about an hour now so we need to head back so we don't get caught."

"A little late for that." A voice said behind you. You all looked to see who it was spoke. It was Jay. He must have been able to read our faces that held fear since he laughed. "Your guardian still hasn't discovered that you ran off yet. I decided to help keep your secret for a while longer, but we will need to go back now for there to be any chance of him not knowing."

"I thought you were his assistant, shouldn't you have told him?" Devin challenged.

"I was your age once you know, and you need help hiding what you have already bought. I can tell him I picked up a few things for you guys. What do you say?"

You looked at the others but they held stoic faces. You let out an annoyed huff and spoke, "Yes that works for me."

"yea ok" they agreed, although Chloe didn't seem to happy.

"Alright let's load up into the vehicle."

As you headed back to the Jeep, you still couldn't shake that feeling of being watched. You had been feeling it ever since you got here but you figured it was all the people that were actually looking at you.

The Jeep sat just outside of the village, waiting to take you back to the tent. Afeter everyone crawled inside, Jay started it up and started to drive off. You noticed it was getting dark and decided to see what time it was. Looking at the Jeeps clock you saw it was six thirty. No wonder it was dark.

Looking back to the trees that toward above, you couldn't help but notice how pretty it was. This place seemed prettier than (hometown). The flowers, the birds, the moving tree root that's headed for the car...THE WHAT?!

Taking a second glance, you confirmed that what was moving on the ground was a tree root of something to that nature. The vehicle wasn't going fast because of the rough terrain so it didn't take long before the root grabbed the hitch of the car. Before you could say anything, you and the others was lurched forward from the force.

Jay had let his foot off the gas and hit the brake. "Is everyone ok?!" Jay yelled.

"I'm ok." Devin said

"So are Chloe and I, good thing we had on our seat belts huh?" Dylan said with a small laugh.

"What happened?!" Chloe shouted.

You wanted to tell them what you saw, but they might not believe you. Who would believe a plant stopped the car like that, besides plants can't move!

Jay had attempted to start the car up but it wouldn't crank. He kept trying but it still wouldn't start. "Well, it looks like we will be walking the rest of the way back. I'm glad we aren't too far from camp." As he went to get out of the jeep, something like a whip wrapped around his neck.

You and your friends let out a scream. Devin pulled out his pocket knife from his pants and attempted to cut what was around Jay's neck, however, that thing had a different plan. It split in half and attacked Devin, wrapping around him and pinning his arms to his side.

You froze from fear and couldn't move while Dylan and Chloe tried to help the two guys. You could now tell what it was that was attacking you. Vines. Actual moving plants. 'This can't be real!' you thought.

Two more vines shout out from the trees and wrapped around Chloe and Dylan the same way as it did Devin.

"(Y/N) get out of here! Go get Mr. Wilson, and hurry!" Finally getting the courage to move, you jump out of the jeep to go get help before it would be too late. You didn't get far when a root shot out of the ground and wrapped around your leg, keeping you from moving.

Your (e/c) eyes widened as you tried to get it off, "No! Let go!" you screamed as you tried to pull your leg away from it.

"I've heard that a thousand times from many people and I've still yet to listen." A deep, rough voice spoke, sending chills down your spine.

"Who are you? What do you want?" you asked, fear lacing you're voice as you looked back towards your friends. They were all still struggling. Except Jay.

"I am what the people call The Evil Keeper, and what I want is you." The voice purred as a strange flower bloomed in front of you. It was orange and the petals where somewhat spiked but in the center was an even sharper object, just like a spike.

It moved quickly and stuck you in the shoulder, piercing through your clothes. "I apologize for being a bit rough but I will be able to make up for it later." You heard the voice coo as your vision started to fade. You looked back to your friends to see they have stopped moving as well and the vines that once attacked them were now coming towards you.

They wrapped around your arms and gently helped you to lie down instead of letting you fall. Finally, your vision went black as you passed out.
