Chapter 31
Song: Lana Del Rey – Dark Paradise
"Good god it's cold." I complained as I rubbed my hands together. The frost like air bit at my flesh as I walked to the awaiting the car. My heels giving of a satisfying click as my coat blew with the wind. My breath came out in clouds of white vapour.
"You should have worn something warmer ma." Castiel scolded me as if he were the parent here. I stopped and turned to look at him. I placed my hands on my hips.
"Well I can't turn back time now, can I?" I asked sarcastically, and pulled the material closer to my silhouette. Who did he think he was? My father?
"Let's get you to the car." Raven came and wrapped his arm around my shoulders, his body giving off a comfortable warmth.
"Let's go mom." Castiel said as he walked behind us.
"Oh no, you are going with grandpa and grandma, Raven and I have some work to do and I want you to actually spend some time with your grandma. It's a half an hour drive, they have all the good sweets." I gave him a quick kiss on the forehead and continued to walk with Raven.
"Are you sure lying to him is best?" Raven asked.
"I don't want him to worry especially since I don't have my abilities and to pregnant to fight. He's safer with dad. Dad can protect him better." I admitted even though it killed me to do so. He was my son and right now I couldn't protect him and to admit that killed my maternal perspective.
"The fact that you acknowledged it and protected him by sending him away proves that you are not selfish and that you are a true mother." Rave assured me.
"Thank you Brother." I smiled warmly at him and then returned to a comfortable silence.
The car came to a halt.
"What's going on?" I asked as I took out a gun from my coat.
"I don't know, stay here." Raven said as he and the two men from the driver and passenger seat went outside. I immediately recognised a deadly sound. The men and Raven went limp. He wasn't dead. Raven was immortal so I knew he would come back but I was still in a predicament. The other cars were too far away to do anything. I got out of the and quickly went to Raven's lifeless body and pressed the button on my ear piece.
"This is hound six, I repeat this is hound six under attack." I said quickly, six being the number order of Bloodhound.
"Well it's not like they can help you now, can they?" I heard his sickening voice.
"Sean..." I snarled and lifted up my gun and pointed it at him only to meet the exact same movements except instead of a gun a small button device.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you Mrs King." He grinned.
"There's a little surprise underneath a specific car that has someone not so immortal." He mocked me with a haunting smile. Castiel...
Castiel wasn't immortal yet and won't be until he's eighteen.
"What do you want?" I said in defeat.
"See now you're being reasonable although I think you already know what I want." He said and then swiftly injected me with something. Only one thing in my mind.
The baby...
...
I woke up to the smell of herbs and of fresh fire. I groaned and woke up clutching my head only to see a blur image of Evelyn.
"Wha-what's going on?" I asked in my groaning.
"Well we are making you mortal. Start the spell." I recognised Sean's voice among chanting.
It was hard to know what she was saying, almost like a soft murmur of gibberish, a mumble.
"Wait stop!" I groaned.
"I'm sorry Pandora but I have to do this for my sister." Evelyn sobbed then went back to the spell.
"I thought you wanted to be mortal?" Sean asked with a mock grimace.
"Not if it means I have to be with you. Too many thoughts and opportunities of suicide, better than being with you." I snarled.
"Oh baby, I'm wounded." He chuckled then crouched before me. A pain went through my body, a pain I wasn't familiar with. I started to pant and gasp for air.
"It's working." He stated.
"Hey Sean, fuck you." I snarled and then gasped in pain again.
"Soon baby." He laughed still in front of me. I quickly leaned forward and pulled the gun from his side and shot the man with the little girl then Sean in the stomach.
Evelyn stopped the spell as the little girl ran to her.
"Lana!" she exclaimed in relief.
"If I can't have you then no one can." I heard from Sean as he then pulled out another gun then pulled the trigger.
I felt the metal piece the flesh of my chest right to my heart. It felt different. It was painless, numb.
"MOM!!!" I heard my Castiel, then screams from the others.
My knees buckled and I fell to them then to my back.
They raced to me in no time at all, my body pulled to Castiel's lap yet I couldn't feel it. It was so numb and cold.
"Mom." He sobbed.
"Hey, an angel." I smiled my blood stained hand caressed his face.
"I love you." I whispered, it was so cold. You never know what to expect, do you see a bright light or do you see an angel. All I saw was oblivion I could touch it, feel its icy breath on my skin. I guess I couldn't cheat death this time.
"MOM!" his voice getting softer and softer as I let go and fell into the abyss of darkness.
And I welcomed death like an old friend, maybe even like a lover.
