Nick's point of view

The school bell rang loudly, signaling that school was over not just for today but for summer. I guess I'm one of those odd teenagers that like school. I can't help but like school when my school life is perfect. I'm a straight A student and not to toot my own horn but all my peers love me. I felt a pain in my wrist and looked down to see someone pinching me. "Hey! What the hell man?!" I turned around to see my best friend Luke. Luke was the complete opposite of me. He was rebellious and had horrible grades. He wasn't what you would consider a "bad boy" but he was a player. Even in looks we were opposite. Luke was average height with black hair and gray eyes. He was pretty athletic so his body was fit and even though he was only 17 he had a small tattoo on his wrist. Me on the other hand, I'm a bit taller than average height with blonde, almost white, hair. My eyes are green and my body was average since I preferred learning than running.  Anyway back to what was happening. Luke was chuckling " You should have seen your face" I rolled my eyes "Whatever Luke, can we go?"

"Wow, Mr. Academic wants to leave school?" Luke teases me 

I glare at him and grab my bag " Yeah well, Mr. Academic has a date with Becca tonight" I smirked as Luke rolled his eyes. "Why are you even with her?" Here we go again, Luke hated Becca. Becca and I had been together for 1 year. She has the most beautiful red  hair and blue eyes. She was captain of the cheer leading squad  and the most popular girl in school. Luke is just jealous. "Because she is amazing and you are just jealous" I smirked at him. He scoffed, "Please, i'll be jealous of your relationship when fat pigs fly." I laughed "yeah whatever man." We walked out the building and started towards my house. "So remember when I said I wanted to join a gang?" I stopped dead in my tracks. "Luke, tell me you didn't" He shrugged. "Technically, I haven't been officially accepted but all I have to do is go to an acceptance party then i'm in " I looked at him dumbfounded. You see, Luke grew up with his mom and his little sister. His mom never really cared about the two so Luke raised his sister. His little sister is his life, hence why her name is on his wrist. The thing was, he didn't have much money to buy food or pay bills. No matter what job he got,it was never enough. He then found this gang. He said they would pay him to do deeds for them and become a part of the group. I told him it was too dangerous and it was stupid but he didn't listen. "You are gonna get yourself killed!" I yelled at him. His face turned red in anger. "Well what the hell am I supposed to do?! When my so called mother doesn't buy anything and I have a 7 year old starving?" He pointed at me "You wouldn't know Nick, everything is handed to you on a golden platter sprinkled with fucking diamonds" I looked at him sadly, "You're right, i don't know. I don't want to know." His eyes softened and he sighed. "This is the only chance they are giving me. The party is tomorrow and I want you to come." At first I thought he was kidding, then i looked directly at his face. "Luke, no"

"Nick please, they said I could bring a friend and I want you to come."

"If I come will you stop annoying me?" I sighed

He smirked and nodded. "ok then i'll come" Luke laughed. "We better get you home before mommy and daddy get mad" He pouted and I laughed. We ran to my house and then Luke went to his house. I walked into the kitchen to see my mother and father talking. "Hello mother, hello father" My father just waved and my mother hugged me. I informed them that I had a date. I ran upstairs and changed into a blue sweater and black jeans. At 8 I left my house to go to becca's. I wanted to be romantic so I climbed the tree onto her patio. I walked into her room and froze. On the bed was Becca naked...................with the Quarterback. Her hair was all messed up and hickeys littered her neck and probably more that I couldn't see. They finally noticed me after what seemed like hours. Her face was bright red. "N-nick, I uh I can explain" I held my hand up. "I gave you my heart and you cheated on me." I looked at her with tears in my eyes. I left the room and climbed down the tree. I called Luke to ask him if I could hang with him for a bit so I didn't have to explain to my parents why i'm home early. I walked to his house, tears flowing down my face. I had loved her and this is what happens. As I turned the corner onto Luke's street I felt angry. Angry at myself for loving her and angry at her for cheating on me. I entered Luke's house and explained to him what happened. "That dirty bitch" Luke growled

"Stop" I looked at him from my place on the couch"It just wasn't meant to be, isn't that what people say?" He sat next to me and sighed. 

"Yeah I guess. Well, hey tomorrow we have the party" He smirked at me "Maybe find a cutie to hook up with" I gave him a look 

"Luke, you know I don't do that crap" 

"Fine, but you are having fun tomorrow if its the last thing I do!"

I rolled my eyes, if only he had that much determination with school.
