Shrugging the thought, she washed her face. She came out of the washroom to change when she saw the one person, she was tired to see at such an hour.

She threw the towel on her bed and asked

"What is it, Ronny? What do you want?"

"That was a nice performance. You killed it, but I don't understand one thing in all this?" Ronny asked still not gaining her full attention.

"And what is that?" she asked uninterested.

"What are you trying to pull from this act?" Ronny inquired.

"It was for the family entertainment, what else was it supposed to be?" She turned to look at him with one raised eyebrow.

"The fact that you are moving closer to that Nairs'. What is with that?" Ronny questioned her getting up from the bed.

She scrunched her eyebrow at his suspicion and tilted her head and spoke.

"They are family friends. And friends help each other! What is wrong with that?" Sonia counter-questioned him.

Ronny gave an angry look at her, she went closer to him and asked.

"What is your problem, Ronny? Now am I not allowed to even get help from others?! Huh? Are you so possessive?!"

Ronny looked sideways and spoke.

"When are you going to tell them?" he said looking straight in her eyes.

Sonia pursed her lips and hummed "Pretty soon, once we reach Mumbai, we can tell them about us and maybe they might accept our relationship and if not..." Sonia backed away from him to continue her night routine by moving towards the mirror.

"If not?! Complete the sentence, Sonia. If not, what?!" Ronny spoke in frustration.

Sonia put her jewellery down and turned to him shrugging her shoulders saying.

"Then we need to wait to get their approval."

Ronny huffed and caught hold of his hips saying

"That's all we have been doing for the past 3 years, Sonia. Waiting and waiting and waiting..."

"Then what do you suggest?! You want me to rebel against my parents and what... marry you?!! Is that it, huh?!!" Sonia waved her hands and replied.

"Yes." Ronny answered back.

Sonia raised her eyebrow and huffed saying.

"I can't do this! You expect me to find solutions for each and every problem that we are facing. But don't have the guts TO SOLVE THEM YOURSELF, HUH?! She screamed the last part.

"Don't shout at me, Sonia!" Ronny warned her.

"You think you can control me, by telling me to do what you want me to do? Wow, excellent!!" Sonia slow-clapped for him.

Ronny clenched his jaw and looked at her with a death glare.

Sonia laughed at him mockingly and spoke.

"You know what! I am done with this! Totally done with this! I am not going to do this anymore! I can't do this anymore! Let's-let's just take a pause from this... you know a break... might do us some good." Sonia waved her hands and bought them to her hips and spoke.

Ronny looked at her confused and shaked his head and asked with a mocking laugh

"Are you breaking up with me?!"

Sonia took a moment and looked straight in his eyes and replied

"Yes, Mr. Ronny. I, Sonia Menon, is breaking up with you."

Ronny looked at her up and down and scoffed at her.

"You are joking, right?! I mean...uh... you-you can't break up with me. We have been together for so long. We love each other, we care for each other. I love you, Sonia. don't do this to me, please!" He made a crying face to gain her sympathy.

Sonia looked at him but promised herself that she will not fall for his words again. She wanted some peace to gather her thoughts. A time out was necessary for her.

"Look, I know I can be a little possessive at times, bu-but i-it's because I love you, I love you so much, baby, please...please...do-don't do this, please...I am so-so sorry, please, baby, please..." Ronny came near her and took her into a bear hug fake crying for her to take back her words and forgive him.

"Ronny, leave me...Ronny please leave me..." Sonia struggled under his grip, but he was holding her very tightly making it difficult for her to even breathe. He finally loosened his grip on her.

He cupped her face and looked into her eyes saying

"I love you so much, baby... please don't leave me... I will do exactly what you want me to do...you want me to wait...I will wait...but don't tell me to break up with you...please baby... please baby..." he suddenly broke down crying badly.

She closed her eyes and spoke.

"Ronny, listen to me, it is for our own good. We can perhaps think about what we want and reminisce on our thoughts to look into our own future. Which can perhaps make us happy. You know...both of us." Sonia grabbed his hands and slide it down. She backed from him to maintain a distance.

Ronny looked at her with teary eyes and looked down nodding at her.

"I think you are right. We should think about ourselves. I think we can then understand what we want from ourselves.... from each other...right?" Ronny asked her to which she nodded slightly pursing her lips to control her tears.

There was a silent for a couple of minutes.

They looked at each other. Then Ronny smiled at her and hugged her for the last time and spoke

"I will see you back in Mumbai. Can I?"

Sonia creased her eyebrows at his request as it was new of him to request her like this.

She moved back from his hug and nodded in approval.

He kissed her forehead and bid his goodbye.

She felt his hands to move slowly from her grip.

After he left her room, she broke down and cried her eyes out. She couldn't hold back and just cried herself to sleep.

The next day

In the morning

Sonia opened her eyes to the morning sunlight peeping from a part of the window curtains. She took her mobile to check the time and saw that it was 6 am. She got up from her bad and went to the washroom.

She looked at her reflection in the mirror and tilted her head to gather at what had happened the other night.

She huffed and went ahead to do her morning routine.

She went to the dining table to have her breakfast, where she found that all had gathered and were laughing and enjoying their time.

She seated herself near to Rekha who looked at her smilingly to get a small smile from Sonia.

Rekha was confused at her attire and the gloominess on her face.

She asked her the reason; Sonia wavered her off saying that she slept late watching her favourite shows at night.

Rekha was not satisfied at her answer, but she nodded and decided to ask her in privacy.

"So, Rekha and Sonia, ready to go for the trek in the woods, hmm?" Vinod asked the besties.

Rekha nodded smilingly and showed a thumps-up. Sonia just nodded in little going back to her food.

Vinay was watching her from the minute she came to the dining table, feeling that something was not right with her.

He thought she must have had some arguments with Ronny, so he just left it there and moved back to his brother to continue on their conversation.

In the afternoon

The younger member of the family decided to go for a trekking adventure in the woods behind the Menon mansion. 

So, Latha, Vinod and Sameer formed the first team. Vinay, Sonia and Rekha formed the second team.

They were all supposed to go for around 2 km into the woods starting from one point and going in opposite directions. After an hour, they all were supposed to meet at the starting point whilst gathering some souvenirs from the woods.

Both the teams started off by keeping the timer in their respective phones. They carried snacks along with them in case they would go hungry in between.

Sonia, Vinay and Rekha started walking silently. Rekha in order to break the silence, she spoke.

"Mr. Yashuu, I remember you didn't want to come for this trekking. Then what changed your mind, hm...?"

Vinay didn't even look at her and answered

"I didn't want to leave two of you alone in the woods, without any protection."

Rekha smiled at his reply and spoke looking at Sonia who was walking sulkily.

"Hm...that's understandable. That's so sweet of you, Mr. Yashuu!" Rekha gave her best smile at his reply.

Sonia was silent the whole time, which gained Rekha's attention. She nudged her for which Sonia just shaked her head with a tired smile.

After around half an hour, Rekha said that her legs were paining and that she wanted to rest for a while.

Vinay nodded at her request and went alone a little ahead to see how much more they had to cover.

Taking this chance, Rekha turned her attention to Sonia asking her about her gloominess.

She said to her about what happened between her and Ronny the last night and how he had suddenly returned to Mumbai.

Rekha was somewhat satisfied at her bestie's decision and hugged her to console her.

Sonia couldn't stop her tears and burst in front of her.

Rekha was happy that now atleast her bestie would realise the actuality of her relationship and find solace in her new space.

She was hoping for her bestie to find the perfect life partner who would bless her with all the happiness in the world.
