Cana slipped past her friend and sprinted down the stairs.
"Ah. Cana wait!"

Mira ran after the brunette.

She ran down the stairs careful not to lose her friend, but also not to trip and fall. She reached the bottom, but before she could inhale properly she saw her friend disappear in the crowd.

"CANA! COME BACK! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?"

Mira tried her best to follow her friend, but eventually she lost her friend in the colors and lights of the festival.

The white haired girl pulled out her phone.
"Laxus, honey, get as many people as you can. We have a problem"

"Soo," Lucy sighed. "What now?"
"I don't know." Natsu sighed. "What were they even thinking?"
"I have no idea."

Silence.
Awkward silence.

Laxus ran to his girlfriend.
"Mira, what happened?"

Lisanna, Erza, Jellal and everyone else came together in the centre of the festival.

"Cana ran away. She looked sad. Something is wrong and now she just disappeared."

Erza looked at the clock.
"We should hurry. The fireworks are about to go off."

Miras eyes widened.
"She has the keys." She breathed.
"What keys Mira-nee."
"The keys to Natsu and Lucy!"

"So, Lisanna."

Natsu ran his hand through his hair.
"Yeah." He groaned and leaned backwards against one of the tables.

"So Cana."
Lucy blushed and looked out the window.
She was quiet.

"It's nothing to be ashamed of. I just thought you were into guys."
"I am."
"Oh," he stood upright. "Then you're bi?"

Lucy sighed and shook her head. "I don't know."

"Oh hey Cana." Freed smiled as the brunette sat next to him.

Cana raised her hand.
"Three bottles of the strongest stuff you got."
And as ordered three bottle of sake slid down the counter to the young alcoholic.

She immediately popped oped the first bottle and started gulping it down.

"Hey! Slow down a bit, will ya." Freed said and pushed the bottle down a bit.
Cana glared at him.

He chuckled.
"I know that look."
Canas eyes softened.

"You know i was in the same situation with Laxus."

Cana put the bottle down.

"I loved him too. And we went places and had fun, but then he fell in love."

"Mira." Cana looked down.

"And he was way happier with her than with me, so I decided that she was best for him and let him go."

"How?"

"Distance."

Cana sat still for a moment.
"Damn, it hurts."

She looked up and Freed with a smile and tears stuck in the corner of her eyes.
"Thanks, man."

She got up and took the two bottles with her.

"Hey Cana!" He called after her.
"What?"
He lifted his right hand and pointed upward.

"Go get 'em tiger."

Cana did the same as her friend.

"I will!"

She smiled and then disappeared in the crowd once more.

"YOU DID WHAT?!"
Mira smiled sheepishly.

"Why would you lock in those two morons?" Juvia rolled her eyes.

"Mira-nee," Lisanna sniffed. "How could you? You knew i liked him."

Mira glared at her sister.

"Lisanna," Laxus put his hand on her shoulder. "Let it be. Mira knows what she's doing."

"Exactly. Thats why i-"
Her phone interrupted her.

'Mira I'm fine. Stop looking. See ya at the dorm tomorrow. Have fun.'

Cana sat in the grass and stared ahead.
The fireworks were going to be lit not far away from her.
Under the light of the moon, she could see some shadows, small like ants, scurrying around getting ready to light the fireworks.

She looked at her phone.

She smiled. Fireworks are gonna go off soon.

Every couple looked for their little spit to look at the fireworks.

Jellal lead the student council president onto the roof.

Juvia lead the raven haired boy to a quiet place beneath the trees.

Gajeel carried the little bookworm to the library and turned the lights off.

Laxus and Mira just sat on a bench.

"You know," Jellal smiled. "I'm really glad we're starting the new year together."

The girl leaned her hand onto her boyfriend shoulder and sighed.
She was Happy.

"I'm happy too."

Juvia sat down under the tree.
No words.
Absolute silence.

She patted the grass next to her and Gray sat down.
She leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Juvia i-"
"Stop," she smiled softly. "Let's just be like this until tomorrow."

"Gajeel, put me down." Levy giggled.

"Hold on, shrimp."
He turned off the lights.

"How are we supposed to see the fireworks from here?"

"Watch, Gihi~" he grinned and pulled open the curtains.

Levys eyes widened and she ran to the widow.
"Woa, we can see everything."
She looked back at the dark haired boy.

Laxus chuckled. "We are really like the old married couple."

"True." Mira smiled. "But i like being married to you."

"So do I."

Wendy stood at the fountain and looked into the water.
'Where's Romeo?'
She thought as two hands came to cover her eyes.

"Guess who."
Romeo grinned.

"So, the fireworks are gonna go off soon." Lucy sighed.

"Yeah." Natsu sighed. "I hope Lisanna isn't angry. She really wanted to go see the fireworks."

The blond looked up at the boy.

"Natsu?"

"Yeah."

"Shut up."

"You noticed it too, didn't you?"

"Yeah."

The blonde grabbed the boy and kissed him wholeheartedly.

They both noticed the urge to be with each other.

They heard loud sounds. Much like gunshots and looked out the window.

The fireworks.

Natsu smiled and held her face with his hands.
"Happy new year. Now let's start right this time."

He kissed her.

"Happy new year."

"Juvia?"
The girl looked up, only to be startled by a kiss.

"Happy new year."

"Gajeel?"
"Yeah?"
Levy pressed a kiss onto his cheek.
"Thank you."

"Happy new year, Honey." Mira kissed the blond lightly.
"I love you."

"Romeo, where were you?"
"Sorry Wendy, i got you something."

He held up a little silver necklace.

"It used to be my moms. I want you to have it."

He turned behind her and put the necklace onto his girlfriend.

"It's so pretty." She smiled as her eyes welled up.

"Just like you."

Wendy pressed a kiss onto her cheek.

"Thank you, Romeo"

Cana chuckled and opened a bottle.
She looked up at the sky.
"Here's to us, universe! Bottoms up!"

She held up the bottle and grinned.

She started gulping it down.
She frowned.

"I should stop." She help the bottle upside down and let the contents pour out onto the grass.

She looked at her phone.

They all pointed at the sky.
They had this old tradition everyone in Fairy tail knew.

They all grinned.
Pointed at sky above with their right hand.
They all inhaled.

And they all screamed the same words.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR FAIRY TAIL!"
