Nicknames!
Now, you're probably thinking, "What, this is totally random!" Well, maybe it is sort of random but you'll just have to deal with it! Continuing....
"Hey, um...guy!" Summer exclaimed. "Come over here a sec!" She was in the family room with Shizuka, Keiza, and Jewel, who were playing with each other's hair.
"First of all," the guy began as he walked over to her, "my name is Ike. Secondly, why do you want me around?"
"Because I need company! These girls are weird, uhh....Ike right?"
"Yes, and I think you are gonna have to find some way to remember my name," Ike replied with his arms crossed.
"How about a nickname?"
"Um....I guess that could help in a way..." Nicknames are what makes remembering names easier. Formed between friends and groups of people, they are created so that that person can be remembered. It's pretty special but kind of weird if you get an unsophisticated nickname.
"I'm gonna call you," Summer began, "Blue Eyes!"
"Why?! That's the weirdest nickname I've ever heard!"
"Because your eyes are blue. Duh!"
"Dealing with you girls is tough," Ike sighed in frustration. Rondi hurried to the family room and asked,
"What are you guys doing?"
"I made a nickname for Ike!" Summer exclaimed.
"Cool!" Rondi said. "Are you giving all of us nicknames?"
"Not really. But we could start."
"I'm in!" Ike exclaimed.
"Okay...how about we start with Jewel?" Rondi suggested.
"I'm Firegirl!" Jewel yelled to the three, stopping her braid on Shizuka. "Don't you forget it!"
"Okay, we get it!" everyone cries loudly. Ever since she gained her fire powers, she wanted to be known as Firegirl in case of identity theft. It got really annoying when she announced her nickname the hundredth time.
"You know what?" Rondi said. "I think I figured out your nickname, Summer."
"What?" she questioned her friend.
"You like to kill a lot of things, right?" (I'm glad I gave this book a mature rating because I didn't remember this part!)
"Yeah..."
"And everyone says that you're amazing and is trusted with a lot, am I right?"
"Sure! Wait...I am?!"
"Just bear with me. Also you are an earthbender. So I came up with K.a.t.e.: Killing-amazing-trusting-earthbender."
"Now that's awesome!" Shizuka awed, paying attention to the conversation.
"I want to make nicknames unique," Rondi explained to them. "So I came up with Kate, or Kat if you wanna shorten it."
"I think I'll call her that," Ike decided. "Thanks, Mr. Name Changer!"
"No problem, Blue Eyes!" Rondi smirked. Everyone chuckled loudly because of their new "names". Then the group began to think on different nicknames to call everyone. Jewel was Firegirl, Ike's nickname was Blue Eyes, Rondi was the Name Changer, Keiza's nickname was Amethyst because of her purple-like aura. Summer is Kate or Kat because of her personality in the acronym. Shizuka's nickname was tricky, but they come across Little Butterfly, a childhood name because of her love of butterflies.
"Let's name the others!" Jewel exclaimed. Suddenly, the rest of the gang ran to the living room and claimed the couches or the floor if there wasn't available seating.
"Whatcha doing?" one of them asked.
"We're nick among ourselves!" Jewel explained. "I'm Firegirl!"
"No, duh!" Summer grunted.
"I am the Name Changer and will do what my name says I should," Rondi said. The group that wasn't there when this happened were confused. To explain it more properly, Ike announced,
"I am Blue Eyes!"
"Name's Little Butterfly," Shizuka proclaimed.
"I am Amethyst 'cause of my aura," Keiza smiled.
"I'm Kate, Killing-Amazing-Trusting-Earthbender."
"That's cool!" James awed. "What's mine?"
"NOBODY!" Lizzy screamed. It shocked everyone in the room.
"Hmm...I got it!" Jarod exclaimed. "Let's call James the name Lizzy gave him: Nobody!"
"Yeah!" everyone agreed.
"And Bryan," Jarod announced to his clan, "you are hereby called Tweeb."
"Why, in the name of all things weird, did you call me Tweeb?!" Bryan yelled.
"Just because, dude! Don't hate it."
"You're running out of explanations, ya' know," Lizzy noticed.
"We know Fi, we know, Link said. "Just calm down."
"Hey!" Marth realized. "Since when was Lizzy called Fi?"
"Fi's short for Fiore, which is her real name," Link explained. "Remember?"
"Oh yeah, you knew her first."
"Okay, should we call her Fi?" Keiza asked.
"I don't think we should steal that name," Bryan decided, "so let's try something else."
"Guys," Mr. L began, "I have an idea! Liz, what's your favorite color?"
"Red, pink, blue, green, and purple. I can't decide on one." Everyone sighed sadly as they remembered that one color won't work for anyone that likes more than one. Blue and purple was out of the picture because those were taken. They also knew that Lizzy doesn't like anything too girly, so pink was out too.
"How about Ruby?" Jewel suggested to them.
".....Nah!" the group replied.
"Then our only option is green," Mr. L indicated.
"Emerald!" Jarod exclaimed loudly. "That should be her nickname."
"Ah.....everyone said.
"All right," Rondi proclaimed. "Emerald, it is!"
"Let's go find Jarod's nickname, guys!" James exclaimed.
"I already got a nickname for him though," Lizzy protested with crosses arms.
"What is it, Em?"
"Oh wow! Nicknames in a nickname," Marth emphasized. "What on earth, dude?"
"I call my brother: Mr. Ballerina Macgyver!" Everyone stared at Lizzy for a moment and then started to laugh hard. It was a funny nickname but there must be some kind of explanation for it.
"Why would you name me that?" Jarod asked, but surprisingly in a calm tone.
"Because you're smart like Macgyver and that one time during volleyball," Lizzy explained.
"Oh yeah!" Keiza exclaimed, remembering the incident. "He tried to get the volleyball on one leg. It was hilarious!"
"Man, I wish I was there," Link complained.
"We just need to think of a nickname for Mr. L and Link."
"Sorry," Mr. L said. "I think being Mr. L is a satisfying nickname for me."
"Oh okay," Lizzy answered to Mr. L.
"Last but not least," Ike announced, "we need to take care of this guy!" He playfully punched Link with his right elbow. It's true: the hylian's the only one left.
"I think I got one but he might not like it," Summer announced.
"Oh no...Kat, what did you think of?" Ike asked in a worried tone.
"Thing!"
"What thing?"
"That's his nickname. Thing!"
"Wow, it's better than I hoped," Link mentioned. "But everyone is probably thinking why."
"Because you are a thing!" Summer explained.
"....ok...."
"Oh my goodness! You forgot Marth!" Rondi yelled to get everyone's attention.
"Oops! Sorry about that, dude!" James apologized to him.
"It's fine," Marth replied. "So what's my nickname?"
"I was thinking of Mr. Princess but it's too fancy for him," Mr. L smirked. Marth sighed and answered,
"It's because of the headdress, isn't it?"
"That's a headdress!" Ike gasped. "I thought it was a tiara."
"Me too!" Link agreed.
Thanks for complimenting it, Mr. Thing and Blue Eyes!" Marth exclaimed.
"Hey at least I'm not called Mr. Princess!" Ike recalled. As the three boys starting to have a random argument, Jewel asked about the "headdress".
"Well," Mr. L started, "after searching Wikipedia and another website that made more sense, I found out the truth. It turns out it's technically a headdress and it was a gift from his older sister. I forgot her name, though.
"Marth has a sister?!" Jewel exclaimed.
"I know! It's crazy!" After hearing about his sister and getting mad internally from the nickname, Marth was enraged.
"Don't you guys have something better to do?!" Marth snapped.
"..............no," everyone answered.
"Ya' know, I thought certain people in this group had a bad temper issue," Lizzy assumed.
"We thought so too," everyone agreed. Yup, nicknamed do have their benefits.
Shorter than the last chapter, that's for sure! I also actually searched up Wikipedia and another website about Marth's headdress. Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed this chapter and see you next chapter!! :)
