Chapter 9. Talk about parties eh?
"I told you to clean up the corpses. Not stand up for a demon."
Rewind sighed calmly yet there was a hint of anger in his tone.
"And I did."
I responded as I chopped up the last demon and ate its flesh.
"No you didn't-"
Rewind paused and sighed again.
"I'm just very disappointed in you GM. You had a simple task and you tried to kill someone."
Rewind crossed his arms sternly, his clock hands ticking rapidly.
"I was standing up for someone!"
I ripped out more flesh from the dead demon.
"You could've been killed! When will you learn!?"
Rewind walked over to the kitchen to clean the glass cups.
"I have been learning!"
I argued.
"No you're not! When we were training, you wouldn't stop. You refused to take a break!"
Rewind placed the cups down and fiddled with his sleeves.
I fell silent.
Dark thoughts started to swirl around my head.
Rewind's hand clock ticked slower.
"I'm sorry Game, I don't mean to lose my temper. But I think it's time you've made some friends other than me. When I took you in, I saw a spark in you. A feeling I must cherish. And protect. And I don't know why. But I think I need to let go of you a bit. So you can develop some independence."
Rewind sighed.
"I..I understand."
I looked down at my hands as I dragged the remaining Demon meat into the food storage.
Rewind locked the storage doors.
"Starting tomorrow I'll let go roam around the trading hub. It'll show you how cruel the world can be. And I'd appreciate it if you help me clean up any corpses again if there are any."
Rewind finished and headed to his room.
I walked over to my room as well. I stared at my comfy bed and walked over to it. I turned around and faced my back to the bed. I let my body fall down behind me and plopped down on the bed.
When will you learn?
You had a simple task and you tried to kill someone.
I'm very disappointed in you GM.
Rewind's words swirled in my head like it had a VIP room in my head.
I grabbed a white pillow and hugged it tightly.
Why aren't you helping Expurge?! I needed help.
No response.
I hugged the pillow even tighter then cried myself to sleep.
I felt like Expurge just...disappeared.
Next day 12:23 AM Rewind's trading hub.
It was more of a party when I came back, everyone was dancing and drinking happily. Yuck I feel like an emo kid. I figured out that I was still Expurge Master but Expurge just wasn't there for some reason. My two tails swished slowly, I'd flick my ears and rolled my eyes. Rewind was watching me carefully.
I don't need him to be so protective of me. I stalked away carefully to a different area. There was also a lot of angry shouting, man, demons get in a lot of fights. They eventually made up or killed each other before I could do anything. Great.
I leaned on the corner wall watching everything around me.
More shouting. Great. But something seemed off, it sounded more violent than the others. I could do something about it. But Rewind's words held me back.
Then a demon was flung to the wall, the walls cracked a little. The demon fell down roughly as the other demons quickly fled the scene.
That demon looks familiar.
Gray skin? And a bit or red..? It's Chivel. Of course it is. What is Chivel up to now?
Chivel stood up in a fighting stance.
"I said I didn't want any trouble."
Chivel coughed wiping the blood off of their mouth.
"You cheated clearly!"
A black demon shouted.
"Why would I cheat?!"
Chivel's key tail lashed angrily.
"You've got a knack for that!"
A white demon argued.
"That was 5 years ago! And you're still pouting!?"
Chivel growled.
The white demon smacked Chivel with their tail.
"OUCH-!"
Chivel shouted and grabbed their tail.
The white demon staggered a bit before Chivel slammed them to the ground.
I'm pretty sure Chivel's got it. Whatever Chivel did, they're handling it well. I stood back and watched in amusement. I noticed I wasn't the only one. Many other demons watched with pure amusement.
Some were shouting to fight.
Some were ready to aid them if anyone got hurt.
Chivel and the demons had quite a fist fight. But 1V2? How is Chivel gonna manage that?
Chivel stood their guard, why aren't they taking a break!? They're bruised.
"Had enough yet?"
The black demon chuckled, the white and black demons seemed untouched. Chivel spat at them in response.
The white demon looked at the black demon and sighed.
"This is tiring let's take them out alreadyyy."
The white demon whined.
"Fine."
The black demon then stabbed Chivel in the stomach. That went clean. Chivel froze there. The demon's claw ripped out slowly. Chivel coughed up some blood.
I think all demons are immortal here, including Chivel so they should be fine...right?
I waited. Chivel was standing up weakly, their legs shaking slowly.
"They're not dead yet."
The white rolled their eyes.
"Then you take them out if you could do better."
The black demon slapped the white demon's head.
The other demons were about to head over to help Chivel but the Black demon prevented them.
Disgusting.
I've had enough and sprinted over to Chivel. Just like the other demons the Black demon fended me off. I simply just skidded across the ground sliding underneath the black demon like a simple obstacle. Thank you for small size.
I grabbed the white demon's wrist tightly as I slid across.
"Hey you little brat let go!"
The white demon hissed.
I bit the white demon's wrist and tore their claws apart.
Blood dropped on the floor and splattered on my face.
The white demon screamed in agony.
"What the heck!?"
"Thanks."
I ate the claw as I stood in front of Chivel.
Chivel stared at me silently, luckily some of the demons made it though and managed to tend to their wounds.
"Comn dude we've got a cannibal in the scene we better bounce before they devour us."
The white demon grabbed the Black demon quickly.
"What happened to your hand?!"
The black demon exclaimed in horror.
The white demon and black demon looked back at me.
I smiled as my claws appeared.
"I'll give you a head start."
I smiled still munching on their claws.
At least I didn't kill anyone this time.
the demons scurried away in fear.
It's like they've never seen anything like me. I hate it. They're all afraid for my actions. I messed up again.
Rewind rushed over into the scene and looked at me.
I quickly turned back to my normal form.
"It's not what it looks like Rewind."
I swallowed the claw.
Rewind said nothing and just rushed over to me, hugging me.
Is this what it feels like to have someone who actually cares for you...? Like a family?
"I was so worried, but...needless to say. I'm round for you. And I'm sorry."
Rewind apologized.
"It's okay."
I hugged Rewind back.
"I'll take it from here, fellows."
Rewind then turned to the demons tending to Chivel.
"I'll let them recover at my place. "
I helped Rewind bring Chivel back to our place.
Back at Rewind's place.
"I'll clean up the corpses today, I just need you to watch over them."
Rewind said before closing the door behind him from the living room and the kitchen.
Chivel laid on the couch weakly as I worked on their bandages where they were badly hit.
"Great, now I have to stay with you."
I ripped off a bandage piece bitterly, I was still pretty salty about yesterday.
I hope they won't kill me when they wake up, that's for sure.
