Chapter 11. Outrage
We'd keep hanging out, but...something was always off about Chivel. Chivel was usually the quiet one, something tells me Chivel regrets accepting Crepitate's apology. They started to distance themselves, I sometimes hear sniffling from Chivel, or on some occasions if I can. I hear Chivel crying in their sleep, it's hard to tell because Chivel always sleeps away from me and Crepitate.
And Chivel sometimes sneaks out late. And goes on a jog or midnight walks. Chivel even tries to leave us whenever it's raining, I assumed that Chivel likes the rain, I asked Chivel about it and they said they did. I'm not sure. It's going to start raining a lot, so I gave Chivel a gray hoodie. And Chivel consistently goes out with that hoodie in the rain. Sometimes Chivel goes completely silent. And never talk for the whole day, Chivel usually only talks to me when I don't eat anything. Chivel's always the first one to make me eat something when I don't want to, Because Crepitate always sleeps in late. I decided to go on a walk with Chivel and I learned a lot about them.
"So you like the rain?"
I asked Chivel.
"Yeah, it's calming. The rain makes me feel better."
Chivel embraced the rain twirling around happily.
I'd giggle.
"Do you like the rain?"
Chivel asked.
"Yeah, I guess so. But it's better when it's with you in it, I used to find the rain depressing because I couldn't go out often."
I smiled.
Chivel paused for a moment then chuckled.
"What? Do you find me funny?"
I laughed.
"I guess so."
Chivel then grabbed my hood and covered my face with it.
"H-hey!"
I swatted Chivel's claws away as I put my hood down. Then it was just quiet. We walked in the rain awkwardly. I looked at Chivel, and I wondered if I should say anything. So I did.
"Why haven't we been talking?"
I finally asked.
Chivel paused.
"I don't know."
Chivel rubbed their head and kept walking. I looked away from Chivel.
"You're angry at me."
I mumbled, I'm sure Chivel was. I understand it more now I look back at the fights, and hang outs. We had a huge fight and never fixed it yet. I'm sure Chivel was still salty about it.
"I'm definitely not."
Chivel puts their claws in their hoodie pocket.
"You should be."
My ears flattened a bit as my tail dragged along the floor. Remembering what I said to Chivel in that fight makes me angry at myself. Chivel has all the rights to be upset still.
"It's not like it's your fault."
Chivel sighed.
"Then who's fault is it?"
For some reason I hoped Chivel would say it's my fault.
"Who is responsible for this?"
I added.
"No one!"
Chivel snapped.
"Crap happened!"
I'd flinch a bit, I was unsure if Chivel was yelling because They were mad.
"Crap happens to the wrong people!"
Chivel then grabbed my shoulders.
"You know that."
Chivel finished gazing at my eyes with anger, but their was a hint of guilt in their eyes.
Chivel was right though. Crap does happen to the wrong people.
"Are you okay?"
I asked Chivel.
Chivel moved away from me.
"You know you don't have to be nice to me. I know you hate me."
Chivel looked down at their feet.
"What?"
I'd gasp in shock.
"I try to make it up to you after the fight we had."
Chivel slouched a bit.
"I'm also a rather boring person."
Chivel added.
I can't believe Chivel was saying that.
"I'm being nice because we're friends."
I started.
"I'm your friend, Chivel. This is what we do."
I tried reassuring Chivel.
Chivel paused a bit, their tail lashed angrily as they curled their claws up into a fist. Then turned around and looked at me.
"I don't have any friends, you are not my friend. Stop pretending like you freaking care."
Chivel hissed at me with fury, but tears ran down from their cheeks. It was hard to tell because of the rain though. They probably felt pain for saying that, because they wanted to be my friend.
"I can go if you want."
I sighed.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to shout. I screwed it up again didn't I? Classic Chivel.."
Chivel rubbed their face trying to get the rain and tears away from their face.
"Do you want me to go? I can stay."
I asked again.
"I just need time."
Chivel sighed, sitting down in the rain.
Chivel looked so miserable, how did Chivel manage to hide this from me and Crepitate were friends.
"I'll go then."
I then started to walk away but Chivel grabbed me by the wrist.
"We used to be friends."
Chivel looked away from me.
"We still are."
I sighed.
"But I'm your best friend."
Chivel corrected themselves.
"And we are."
I reassured Chivel.
"Then why are we still like this? Why am I like this..?"
Chivel cried quietly as they rested their heads on their knees.
"I don't know. But we're still friends."
I assured Chivel.
"I'm a mess aren't I.?"
Chivel sighed, laughing a bit.
"Chivel."
I sighed.
Chivel looked at me.
"Just come home. With me."
I offered my claws to Chivel.
Chivel reached for it hesitantly. But they managed to grab my claw with theirs and I helped them stand up.
I walked back back slowly holding Chivel's claws, they were soft and smooth. Chivel was awfully quiet.
"Are you okay?"
I'd ask from time to time.
Chivel would nod in response.
"Okay."
I said as I kept walking home.
"We're back Rewind."
Silence.
"Hey, Rewind is out for a bit. to, you know, work."
Crepitate chuckled.
"Oh alright"
I looked at Crepitate, Crepitate was covered in oil or something gray or black.
"What have you been doing to look like that?"
I joked a little.
"Oh I was fixing up a new machine for us, it's a surprise so no spoilers!"
Crepitate giggled.
"What happened to Chivel?"
Crepitate asked, looking at Chivel's soaked miserably self.
"Chivel just needs some rest."
I patted Chivel's arm.
"You should go get Chivel a towel."
I suggested.
"Good idea, I'll be back in a jiffy."
I sat Chivel down as Crepitate dashed to the bathroom.
"Here give me the hoodie, I'll dry it up."
Chivel took off their hoodie and gave it to me.
I laid the hoodie on the dining table and put it right in the light to dry it up.
I then sat back down with Chivel. Crepitate returned with a gray towel.
"I've got it! I can make tea too if you'd like!"
Crepitate smiled generously.
"Thanks Crep you're the best."
I smiled as Chivel wrapped the towel around them.
Crepitate nodded nod headed over to the kitchen to make tea, Chivel stared at the Tv for a while. I glanced at Chivel.
"Do you want to watch something?"
I asked.
Chivel simply nodded as they leaned on me. I almost flinched a bit. It was just surprising.
I put on a show Chivel usually watches.
"Hey wait for me!"
Crepitate came back with the tea and we all sat down and watched the show together.
We sipped on the tea while watching the show, like what friends do. We finally brought this trio back together. And as for Chivel, Chivel will need time.
"Chivel?"
I looked at Chivel, Chivel fell fast asleep quickly, their head rested on my shoulders. I sighed and smiled a bit. I leaned my head on Chivel a bit feeling the soft dusty hair. I kept watching the show and soon after the show I drifted off to sleep, leaning on Chivel.
