Chapter 4: Lost

I was denied breakfast this morning, forced to stay in the cell until nearly dinner time. It was a warmer day today, perhaps the beginning of spring. I'd been stuck here for three weeks as of today.

I attempted to comb through my hair. The black dye had grown out quite a bit, revealing my auburn red roots. I combed through the knots I could and stuck it into a single french braid so it was out of my face.

I grabbed a research journal of mine that had been in my bag, hoping to find something, anything that would help me out of this mess. This mess that, quite frankly, could've easily been avoided if I had been more careful. But in the usual Ruby Alexander fashion, I was never careful.

As I flipped through the pages I couldn't help but wondering if Felix had heard me coming. If maybe that was the reason the fire had disappeared so suddenly. All I know is that I wasn't going to stop until I was free. I would get out, I would find Felix, we would find Jax and this whole thing would end. This nightmare would end, and we would win the game.

      I had a plan.

I flipped through the pages with a rock in my hand, making little indentations on the pages I needed to keep. I tore those out of the book as carefully as I could, folded them and stuck them in my jacket pocket. James had come back once again to let me know when dinner would be ready, before beginning to walk off once again.

"Wait! James," I had said causing him to turn around. "Have you ever wondered why Peter only sends you to talk to me?"

"No, it's because I'm second in command..." He replied

"But why are you second in command?"

      "Because I'm trustworthy..?"

"Do you wanna know the real reason?

      "I'm listening..." he said sceptically.

"It's because," I said starting my devious escape plan, "You're naive. You'll listen to whatever he says because you see him as an authority figure,"

      "I am not naive."

"Are you one-hundred per cent sure about that?"

      "Am I?"

"No, you're not. If you even have to ask, you're not." I explained. "Now if you join me, and help me out of here... I can help you find the one thing you're looking for, and have always been looking for,"

      "And that is?"

"A home," I said. "For you and everyone else... Tell you what, you go on and tell all your little friends about my offer, and see who's side they pick..."

"And if they don't pick yours?"

"Then that's the end of it. I won't bug you anymore,"

"I'll take you up on that,"

And just like that, my plan had been put into motion. I'll be out of here before you know it, saving as many people from this place as I can, with just a flick of my wrist. Now was my chance... Now was the beginning of the revolution, with me at the centre of it all.
