Chapter seven

My eyes slowly fluttered open to a splitting headache. "Ugh..."
What happened...?
Oh... That's right... I fell and hit my head...
My senses felt fuzzy as I looked around, trying to grasp the situation. Where... Was I...?
My vision started to clear and I realized that the sun was out. Oh, I must've been unconscious all night... But wait... I fell into the snow, so... Why didn't I feel all that cold...? Trying to focus, I realized where I was. I was laying on my back on what seemed to be a bed, though it's sheets were very chilly, and wherever I was, I seemed to be in some sort of room. In a cottage or a hut perhaps...?
There were a few windows and out them I could see the thick frost and snow on the ground. So it was still snowy... I needed to get up and moving and get back to the task at hand...!
I started to sit up, but I stopped when I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was a freezing hand...
"It's best that you lay down a bit longer."
A voice; low, quiet and calm, gentle like a fall breeze. I blinked and looked up to see there was someone there.
Had he always been there...?
It was a boy, very tall and slim, dressed surprisingly thinly for the weather. His skin was pale, and his face small but well structured, though that was the only trait I could recognize about it, as his face was curtained in long, soft looking silver hair that covered his eyes and brushed along his jaw and the back of his neck. Despite that I couldn't see his face, I did in fact think that he was very beautiful.
"... Who are you...?" My voice was quieter than I had intended.
He seemed to realize his hand was still on me, and quickly retracted it. "Er... My... Name is M..Miyuki.."
Miyuki...?
Indeed, we'd never met before... Maybe he wasn't from Raewillow...
Or was I that far from it??
"Oh, well, I'm very sorry for intruding, Miyuki, but I really have to get going..."
I had started to stand again, but the moment I was upright, pain spiked through me, and I found myself collapsing. "Miss..!"
Cold hands returned to me as the boy tried to help me. "You really shouldn't stand..."
My thoughts were scattered. What was going on...?
I tried to look over at him. "... What's happening...?"
The corners of his thin lips turned up a little sympathetically. "Don't worry, I'll explain everything."
I would hope so...
Because I was completely at a loss.
Just who was he...?
"... How did I get here...?"

"Well, you see..." Miyuki carefully moved me back to the bed before sitting on the edge next to me, though I recognized that he seemed to be careful about not sitting too close to me. "I was walking through the woods when I happened to notice you laying unconscious in the snow..."
He saw me..?
"I was worried you'd freeze to death, so I took you inside..."
He...
I started to raise my hand and noticed that it was heavily bandaged. What...
Miyuki must've noticed, and looked at me. "You were in pretty bad shape... I did my best to help you. I'm sorry if it's not that much, I mean, I still have a lot to learn about herbs... At the very least, I could take care of the wounds and cuts on your body."
I blinked. My body? Did that mean there were more?!
I found myself feeling around to see. Oh my gosh, I had several sore spots all over me... Did that mean he...?!
My face reddened, and Miyuki must've recognized my distress as he gently added, "Ah, I didn't see anything unnecessary, I promise..."
His words managed to calm me. It wasn't just his words... The sound of his voice was very soothing. It was deep and low, but gentle, and at a low volume.
"... You really took care of me, didn't you...?"
He nodded quietly.
My lips curled into a smile. "... Thank you."
It was only for a split second, but it looked like for a moment his pale cheeks had turned a light shade of pink.
He seemed to be such a kind person... But I wished I could look him in the eyes...
I moved towards him a little, but he seemed to tense.
"... Sorry," I started quietly. "... Just... Hold still for a minute..."
I started leaned towards him and he hesitated to move, though I could've sworn he seemed afraid. I didn't want that... I didn't want him to be scared of me...
I leaned slowly, my hand reaching out, and as the silence settled over us, I carefully reached my fingers to his long bangs, lightly parting them so that I could see his face.
Just as I thought... He was beautiful...
And his eyes... They were a glimmering ice blue.
My lips split into a wide smile uncontrollably. "... I knew it," I murmured. "They're beautiful."
Such a pretty face... Why did he keep it hidden...?
The way that he looked at me then was a face that I couldn't describe.
But... It didn't look unhappy.
