68.
The sound on the door was increasing with time.
It was evident that the person opposite to the door was impatient considering how rapidly the knocking sound went from slight tap to almost banging on the door within a minute.
Jin calmly looked through the peephole and sighed a little before opening the door.
A very tipsy Arya almost stumbled Inside the room.
She was in her oversized shirt and jeans with a bottle of Soju in her hand.
Her face was flushed and eyelids were almost drooping.
"Arya." Jin calmly called.
"You..." Arya suddenly looked up with her piercing gaze and her hand came up to grab Jin's lapel, "you are a bastard, you know that, the great Kim Seokjin?"
"You are drunk." Jin went to slowly take the bottle from her hand but she moved it away in a second.
She sipped the bottle for the last time and looked at the bottle intently.
She rocked the bottle like a pendulum in between their faces and dropped the bottle.
With the sound of glass shattering, her face lit up with a mischievous grin, "oops!"
"Arya..." Jin started but was interrupted immediately as Arya put her index over her lips and whispered, "shhhhh."
"I'll get some water." Jin turned around but was impeded by Arya once again,
"You are the cruelest person on this world, Kim Seokjin!"
"Sit down," Jin said in a soft voice but was again stopped by the girl, "You know Jin? I thought we were friends!"
"Sit down." Jin again said calmly.
"Why would I sit down?" Arya almost yelled at him, "I will not sit down!"
"Ok, calm down." Jin handed her a glass of water, "don't move. I'll clear the floor."
"Kim Seokjin!" Arya leaned back and scoffed after Jin cleaned the floor and made Arya sit down on the couch,
"Why are you doing this to me?"
Jin didn't answer.
"If you become like this, why do you have to be this nice to me before?" Arya's voice was on run, "you are worse than anyone out there who doesn't like me."
Silence.
"You know how?" Arya again scoffed, "At least they don't pretend that they at my friend!"
"You need to go back to your dormitory," Jin stated calmly.
"Right." Arya smiled painfully, "the more I stay here, the more badly your reputation is going to be tainted."
"Arya..."
"Stop." Arya lifted one hand but couldn't hold that up for much longer, "don't even try to deny it, Kim Seokjin! You are afraid that you'll be called as my friend." Arya giggled uncontrollably,
"Friend of the psycho bitch!"
"That is not true."
"Then what is the truth? Tell me!" Arya flared up, "You are driving me crazy!"
Silence.
"See?" Arya chuckled, "you can't even tell what is it. Such a liar!"
The room was again silent.
Arya chuckled for a few minutes on her own before sitting straight again, "you know what? If they say you can't fence anymore is true, I thought I was the reason! That brat killed your partner in front of you, and you are carrying out the consequences all these years." She laughed, "that made me think probably you care, care enough to have nightmares in my memories."
Silence.
"Lies! All lies!" Arya laughed, "you never cared, you fucking never cared!"
"Listen to me," Jin interjected.
"No." Arta quickly shook her head side to side, "You will ask to listen to you and then will never say a word."
"Listen."
"I said I will not listen!" Arya shouted and kicked the table in front of the couch, "I will not listen! What are you gonna do? Hit me?"
Jin looked at her calmly.
"Oh, I forgot!" Arya gasped As if she suddenly remembered, "the great Kim Seokjin wouldn't hit an unarmed opponent."
She again leaned back and rested her head on the couch looking at the ceiling, "he just shatters her. Every way possible."
"What are you talking about?" Jin asked gently.
Arya blinked rapidly as if she got bugs in her eyes but still a drop of tear rolled down the side of her eyes and her breath caught up.
"God! I am really drunk, ain't I?"
"Arya, what were you talking about?" Jin asked carefully.
"Why did you help me, Jin? Why did you have to bring me back to life and again kill me every day?"
"I..."
"You had so much fun doing it, no?" Arya started to laugh so suddenly, so much that it pooled her eyes with the intensity of her laughter, "stupid me!"
"Arya..."
"Will you stop calling me that?" Arya wiped her eyes and chuckled, "every time you do that, I just want to kill you now!"
"You..."
"Yes, me." Arya pointed at herself and chuckled, "it is me who thought that I mattered! That you still drink the coffee I got you decades ago, that you eat sushi only because I loved it, that, that..." Arya closed her eyes and again her eyes wetted her long lashes slowly.
"look at me," Jin called and went to touch Arya's hand but Arya pulled it away and grabbed Jin's lapel.
Her voice was now painful and regretful, "you know what, jerk?"
Jin looked at the hand grabbing his lapel and again looked at her ready eyes.
"I thought we had something!" Her smile was sarcastic.
"I thought we had a connection, you know?"
"What?"
"I started to think probably you look at me differently by the way you treated me every day. Stupid me!"
Jin just looked at Arya without any words.
Arya pushed away Jin's head to one side, "And don't look at me like that! One day you treat me like I am an important person to you, the next day you just pretend like you don't know me at all!"
"Stop it."
"What am I to you, Jin? A toy? That you can treat however you want, whenever you want?"
"You are no toy, Arya." Jin was still calm.
"I doubt that." Arya laughed but she brushed her tears away, "God! Why am I even crying? Stupid, stupid me!"
"Please..."
"What am I to you, Jin?" Arya looked directly into Jin's eyes, "just tell me, what am I to you?"
Jin didn't answer.
"This was a bad idea." Arya got up and stumbled on her feet in try of moving and raised her hand as Jin tried to help her, "I am ok. Don't try to act nice to me."
Jin slowly retracted his hand away.
Arya barely could walk as she tried to reach the door. Her world was revolving around her to keep the focus and she gave up finally reaching the doorknob.
She leaned her head on the door as she slid down against the door and mumbled as tears again pooled her eyes, "Don't be nice to me, it confuses me."
Arya got up with the sun shining on her face coming through the glass pine of the balcony beside the bed.
She confusedly looked around before starting to panic- where the hell was she?
Her head was cracking in a bad headache from the hangover and she almost pulled her hair to remember where she was.
She sat up and looked around and almost jumped seeing Jin's figure on the chair a little away from the bed.
He was reading something in his hands and looked at her as she sat up in the bed.
Their eyes locked for a few seconds and Arya clenched the duvet in her fists as the memories of last night were coming flooding.
Her face flushed remembering what she did and she immediately pulled the duvet over her head. How the hell did she lose control?
"Go, take shower. Breakfast is on the way." Jin's indifferent voice came and Arya bit her lips.
After a minute, she slowly lowered the duvet and looked at Jin, "I need to get back to my dormitory."
"As you wish." Jin shrugged and put the book down.
"People will see I am coming out of your room." Arya suddenly becomes concerned.
Jin's room was in the officer's area and of course, out of access from most of the people.
"If there starts a rumor..."
"You should have thought that before you decided to come here." Jin's voice was calm.
"I don't care about what people think about me." Arya was calm too, "they don't think good about me anyway, but yours is a different case."
"Stop overthinking," Jin interjected.
"So you don't care?" Arya eyed him and she just shrugged without any words.
"About last night..." Arya started but stopped immediately thinking something intently.
Jin looked at her.
Arya decided to act indifferent, "I didn't do something stupid, right?"
"No."
"You sure?" Arya frowned, "I don't easily get drunk. But when I am, I am a bad drunk."
"You were ok." Jin assured and handed her a tracksuit set, "go, have a shower first."
Arya looked at her clothes and scrunched her nose as they still reeked of alcohol.
What the hell happened to her last night? And why on earth did she ask those stupid questions to Jin?
Embarrassing!
She mentally slapped herself, act normal! Act as if nothing happened!
She got up.
"Before you go," Jin suddenly turned back, "Have a look at this. Then decide if you want to do anything with me."
Jin handed her a file.
Arya's eyes turned wide as she looked at the file.
It was jin's profile.
A highly classified file part of which she downloaded after hacking the NIS security system.
Arya looked at Jin's eyes and she suddenly felt, Jin was scared.
There was nothing in his face, nothing in his voice, nothing in his eyes, but arya felt, he was deep down, afraid.
And from where the hunch came, she had no idea at all.
Jin went out on the balcony leaving Arya with the file.
Arya confusedly flapped the pages and eyed the contents, she was unsure what was Jin wanted her to see.
When the first name in Jin's red book came to her view, Arya felt like her world was starting to spin around her.
Her head went blank in an instant and the file slowly slipped through her finger.
She was seeing red as her hands started to tremble.
Fury, anger, and hatred along with a mountain of betrayal and sorrow filled her heart and she felt like she can't breathe cramping on this overwhelmed surge of emotions.
She slowly broke down on the floor as her knees gave up and her hand searched for her heart which was about to burst as her breath become shallow.
She looked up with glossy eyes as Jin came in again.
"Why?" She mumbled after trying hard to let out millions of questions in her heaf huddling to get out at once.
"I told you, you'll hate me."
Arya got up on her feet, still trying to subdue her trembling and her shaky hands both grabbed the lapel of Jin's shirt and whispered, "don't ever come in my sight, Kim Seokjin!"
Jin was silent.
"I promise I'll kill you the next time you come in front of me!"
Jin was silent.
Arya released her grip and almost ran out of the room.
Her world was red.
Her world was spinning and trembling.
Her world was finally blurry with tears that weren't stopping no matter how hard she tried even after she got back to her dormitory not caring about all the callings and confused looks on the people in her way.
