48.
Arya bade goodbye to Chamiyu at the door. Chamiyu insisted on further help but Arya didn't want to engage him further in his people's festival night.
Before Chamiyu left, Arya called Jin,
"Hey, come inside."
Jin followed her like the most obedient person ever.
Arya indicated to him towards the kitchen chair, "Sit."
Chamiyu suddenly butted in, "Can I ask one thing, Bunita?"
"Yes?"
"Where did you get that watch?"
Arya looked at the watch. It was that worn-out watch she found in her box which was allegedly belonged to Jin.
"Why?"
"Nothing, never mind." Chamiyu was about to leave.
"Wait, tell me what is it?"
"It was..." Chamiyu hesitated.
"I got it from Jin," Arya said.
Chamiyu seemed a bit relaxed, "Oh, I thought so too."
"Why?"
"Its...It's Mr. Kim's. Master Kim's father's watch."
Arya was surprised.
"His father's?"
"Yes, didn't he tell you?" Chamiyu looked at her curiously, "he took just this only thing from here before he left when he was little."
"I see." Arya was deep in her thought.
"I'll take my leave now." Chamiyu bowed and Arya nodded.
After he left, Arya came inside and told Jin, "Sit down."
Jin sat without any resistance.
"You want some water?"
Jin nodded.
Who would say, this man was already dead drunk?
His face or his behavior didn't reveal anything. He was sitting there like a normal person. His voice was also stable.
The only odd thing was the absence of any kind of resistance in him.
Arya got him a glass of water and put it down in front of him, "drink up."
Jin just looked at the glass. No signs of grabbing it.
"Aren't you thirsty?" Arya asked.
Jin nodded.
"Then why are you not drinking?"
Jin remained silent.
"Take it." Arya pushed the glass a little closer to him.
But still, Jin didn't take it.
Arya sighed in frustration, "you want me to help you?"
Jin's face was indifferent but he nodded a little.
Arya watched him in awe and burst into laughter a second later, "god, I forgot how cute you become after getting drunk!"
She grabbed the glass and held it near his lips, "here."
Jin drank up without any words.
Arya wiped his lips and ruffled his hair which she would never imagine doing in normal time, "are you hungry?"
Jin nodded his head left and right, he wasn't.
"Let's get you in your room. You should sleep."
Jin didn't say anything but he didn't show any signs of getting up either.
Arya was already headed towards Jin's room but noticing him not following her she came back, "why are you not getting up?"
Jin was again, silent.
"You don't want to go yet?"
Jin nodded side to side.
Arya laughed, "I should probably take a video of how obedient and disobedient you are at the same time when you are drunk!"
"What do you want to do?" Arya sat in front of him.
Jin was fiddling with a kitchen knife.
"Put that down, will ya?" Arya snatched the knife from him, "you'll cut yourself."
Arya herself didn't believe that she said something like that but cracked into laughter after saying that in the hilariously funny aspect of it.
The face of Jin was something to look at. It seems like he was extremely displeased with the laughing girl in front of him and he took back the knife again from Arya and concentrated on doing what he was doing before.
Arya peeked at his hand this time.
He was scribbling on the wooden tabletop with the knife.
As if not being satisfied with his work, he started to deepen the scratches on it relentlessly.
Arya tried to hold back her laughter and eventually gave up and thumped on the floor, "Kim Seokjin! Who would have thought you'd do something like that when you are drunk? How old are you?"
Being a little annoyed, Jin clicked his tongue and again concentrated on his work.
"Ok, do whatever you want. I won't budge in." Arya laughed, "but don't regret it tomorrow."
Jin didn't listen.
He continued his work until he was satisfied. He looked at Arya with bright eyes as if he was asking for approval of the masterpiece he just made.
Arya looked. There was nothing, just the destroyed expensive tabletop in view.
She tried to smile, "Wow...beautiful!"
Jin hummed with appreciation and got up.
"Good boy, now go to your room."
Arya tugged on his arm.
But Jin's arms held much more strength than hers even in his drunk state. He just headed to the back door with Arya in his hand.
"Hey! Where are you going!" Arya felt helpless at this time. What should she do when a grown man becomes like six years old and try to play in the middle of the night?
"Come back!"
Obviously, Jin didn't listen.
He pulled Arya out in the back yards.
He went towards the small water reservoir on the ground made of stones from the near mountain.
Chamiyu planted some saltwater lilies there.
Jin sat down in the stone steps near the waterbody.
Sensing he wasn't moving anymore, Arya nudged him a little more sitting beside him, "Jin? Let's go to the room?"
Jin didn't move.
"Such a stubborn boy even when you are drunk!" Arya sighed and relaxed, "why you have come here?"
Jin didn't answer. Rather he put off his shoes and put his feet down in the water.
Unintentionally a small smile crept into Arya's face.
Jin was mute, but unbearably cute at the same time.
"Sit." Jin frowned at her.
"I am sitting!" Arya protested.
"Sit." Jin again said stubbornly.
It took some moments for Arya to get that Jin was asking her to put off her shoes and down her feet in the water just like him.
Arya sighed a little, she was supposed to go to sleep in the middle of the night, not playing with the most reserved boy who suddenly decided that he would do whatever nonsenses he came up with just now.
"Do whatever you want, I am going to sleep." Arya got up to leave.
"Stay," Jin said sternly.
"I am sleepy." Arya protested.
"Stay." This time Jin's voice seemed angered, "Stay."
"Why dragging me into this?" Arya sighed helplessly, "just have a good time on your own."
Jin looked away and stayed silent.
"Jin?"
Jin didn't answer.
"Won't talk to me?"
Jin neither answered nor looked at her. Rather his hand plucked a blue hyacinth and fiddle with the long stalk.
"Jin?"
"Stay." Jin's voice was grumpy.
"All right." Arya surrendered and sat beside him again and put her feet down in the water.
Jin offered the hyacinth to her.
Arya looked at him in distress, what was he gonna do next?
Arya took the flower.
Seeing Jin looking at her eagerly, she tried to manage a woody smile, "It's nice."
Maybe the admiration and praise were wrong.
Jin got up from the stairs and went further inside the garden.
Arya followed him, how the hell a little alcohol made him this full of energy and mischief in the course of these little times?
Jin plucked flowers whichever he found in his way. If Arya wasn't there to forcefully bring him back, He would probably end up destroying the whole garden.
"What the hell are you doing?" Arya felt tired. So that's how parents feel when their child doesn't listen to them?
Jin offered the whole bunch to her.
"For me?" Arya pointed at herself.
"Take it." Jin shoved the whole bunch in her hand.
"Ah...th...thank you?" Arya was in distress. All she could think was how would Jin feel when he sobered up after tonight.
"Let's get you to bed now,"
Jin again turned his back on Arya.
"What is it with you?" Arya laughed,
"You are just gonna pretend you didn't hear anything whichever you don't like? Ok, we'll stay."
Jin again faced Arya and pulled her towards the stone seat to one side of the garden now.
"What is he doing now?" Arya almost scoffed.
Sitting on the stone seat, Jin patted the place beside him for her to take.
Arya sat down complying with Jin's demand.
"Now what?"
"Is it cold?" Jin asked out of the blue.
"Cold?" Arya frowned. It wasn't that cold, but the wind from the sea was quite chilly, she couldn't deny it.
"Yes, a little. Why? You need a blanket?"
Jin didn't answer her. Rather he put off his jacket and wrapped it around her, "Take it."
What is it with him? Arya smiled, He was treating her like a treasure suddenly after getting drunk. Like he was pampering her with all goods he has with him. Such a baby.
"No thanks."
"Take it." Jin's voice sounded angered.
Arya sighed, "you are being unreasonable, you know?"
Jin again showed his back towards Arya.
"Ok, I am taking it. Happy?"
Jin looked back at her.
Jin reached towards the flower in her hand and took a smaller bunch. He fiddled with it for a few seconds and as if he wasn't pleased with its look, he frowned and put the flower behind Arya's ear and looked at her carefully as if he was afraid she was going to snap at him.
Arya chuckled, "What are you doing, Jin?"
"Pretty."
Though it was unintentional, Arya felt her face was flushing so suddenly.
"I know I am pretty," she brushed off the remark and proceeded onto the next topic, "why are you like this today? Where are your manners? Do you realize how many rules have you broken of your own in this short time?"
Jin again looked away.
"Ok, ok...I'll not say anything anymore. Don't start sulking!" Arya laughed.
She was distressed and helpless trying to control this manchild. But she was quite enjoying herself now. It's not every day you get to see the famous Kim Seokjin get drunk and doing nonsense.
After almost an hour, Arya finally managed to get him back in his room.
She brought a wet towel and wiped his hands and face and tucked him in bed.
"Good boy, sleep now."
"Stay."
Arya laughed again with Jin who was now slipping inside the blanket peeking his eyes out only.
Suddenly her mischievous self rose and a grin appeared on her face.
"I'll stay. If you answer my questions." Arya raised one eyebrow towards Jin for any response.
Jin didn't answer rather he frowned with quite displease.
"You like gardens?" Arya smiled.
"Yes," Jin's face turned dreamy.
Arya tried to control her laughter.
"You love Sae?"
Jin nodded obediently.
"Why don't you ever smile?"
Jin was silent.
"What kind of drunk you are that you are only answering the questions you want?" Arya became impatient.
Jin again started fiddling with his fingers.
"Stop it." Arya grabbed his hands and separated them from each other, "Tell me, You love your family?"
"Yes." Jin's face was a little grumpy as if he wasn't liking the questions at all.
"How about your brother?"
"Cute." Jin's eyes became soft.
Seeing his expression, Arya's heart softened a bit. He indeed loved his brother the most. His face showed it all.
"Why did you leave the airforce?"
His face slowly turned down, like someone has switched off a light bulb inside him.
"They lie." He grumbled and closed his eyes.
"Oh...no no no..." Arya shook Jin instantly. Things were just getting interesting. She can't have him doze off now.
Jin clicked his tongue and looked at her with a frown.
"What lies?"
Jin looked away. Clearly, he doesn't want to answer that.
"Why did you join NIS?"
"Mom and dad."
Arya frowned, "Your mom and dad?"
Jin nodded.
"Your mom and dad were NIS agents?" Arya tried to add two with twos.
That would make very much sense of Chamiyu's words of Mr. And Mrs. Kim having any secret project here, training days and night.
"Mnn." Jin approved her words.
"That's new," Arya mumbled.
"Nari...do you like her?"
Arya questioned. Jin never answered her directly of this question.
Jin again frowned and answered in an annoyed voice, "No."
"Then why did you tell her I was your girlfriend? To avoid her or reject her indirectly?"
"Mnn." Jin agreed without much resistance.
"Not so gentlemanly behavior from the perfect gentlemen himself!" Arya grinned.
"If you don't like her, is there anyone you like? Any girl?"
"Mnn."
Arya was curious in an instance.
Jin? Like someone? Hell!
"Who is it?"
Jin pulled the blanket over his face this time not answering her question.
"Does she know?"
Jin didn't answer that either.
"You know, you are such a tight-lipped boy if you want to be?" Arya mumbled in annoyance. "Ok, no more questions." Arya pulled down the cover from his face, "Jin..."
But to her relief and disappointment, he was out cold.
