Chapter 9

7:15 A.M.

Valerie eats breakfast at Granny's glad to be out her father's sight for the morning. The bell of the door rings as a man enters the place, his blue eyes scan the dinner before settled down on the blonde girl

His eyes widened in surprise for also seeing her in Storybrooke, not knowing she was sent here too with the Curse.

He walks to her booth and sits in front of her, studying her. If she was the same girl she was back on their land, he needed to be careful because no one could lie to her

Valerie sensed someone siting in front of her and slowly raised her head from her science book. She saw a brunette man with blue eyes watching her with a small smile. She studied him quickly before opening her mouth

"Okay, I'm really bad at being creative so I can't help you with your book, besides that I don't know you to help you in the first place" She told him placing her pen on her book crossing her arms leaning back to her chair

The man raised his brows in amusement at the blonde, grinning to himself that her skill wasn't lost after being brought to another land and losing her memories

"How did you I'm writing a book?" He asked her leaning slightly in the table. Valerie furrowed her eyebrows and shifted her eyes through his face detecting something off

"It's just a guess, buddy. But that's not it, your hiding something"

The man shifted uncomfortably before looking up at her with melancholy. The girl being a good friend of him and his father when she helped his father with the wardrobe. He wasn't used to being on the other side of her sass. It felt weird, but she was right, she didn't know him, at least not the adult him because either way she wouldn't remember who he was even if he was in front of her as a child.

"But I don't know you so I could be wrong" she shrugged looking at him, a slight smug smirk on her face "Which usually doesn't happen often because I'm always right"

He felt a Deja-vu hearing her say that, making him smile. Valerie stopped and took a double check at his face

"You're new here" she said tilting her head aside, he smiled "What are you doing in Storybrooke? This is a small boring town"

He chuckled

"Aw. I'm sure that's not true. I've seen pretty interesting people"

"Well, those would be the only ones because the others are pretty boring if I say so myself"

"Are you boring?" He asked her with a smile

"Depends on what perspective you are asking Mr. Stranger"

"Nah, you don't look boring, Ms. Negative"

She looks at him disapprovingly when the door gets open again. Mary-Margaret enters and sits at one of the tables, takes out a book, and fixes her hair in a spoon's reflection.

Not soon after, David enters the dinner and walks up to the counter. Ruby serves him two coffees.

David takes the coffees and notices Mary Margaret sitting behind him. Which makes Valerie shake her head also disapprovingly. They exchanged a few words and he makes his way out, finding Valerie in front of him

"Hi, Mr. Nolan" she smiled at him, David smiled not noticing the stranger man siting in the same table that Valerie

"Good morning, Valerie. I'll like to stay and chat but I have to work"

"Oh, that's right. You found a job on the animal shelter right? I'm really happy for you, have a nice day"

David nodded and walked away. Valerie smiled and looked back at her companion, to see him smiling

"What?" She asked frowning

The man didn't answer, he just smiled and shook his head. He remembered the relationship the blonde princess and Prince Charming had back in their land. He was glad that that wasn't lose here either.

He looks at his watch reading 7:17 A.M and looks up at the girl shaking her head seeing past his shoulder. He looks back seeing the woman he knew as Snow White looking disappointed as she gazed at the door. The blonde woman Emma making her way towards her. He looked away quickly at the blonde teen

"She's so obvious.... She'll get caught and everything would end worse" she clicked her tongue shaking her head. He frowned and glanced behind his shoulder not knowing what the problem was with the Royal couple in this land

"What is the problem?" He asked pointing his thumb at the pixie haired woman. She shot him a look

"I don't like gossiping Mr. Stranger..."

"Call me August" he interrupted her with a small smile, she hummed nodding slowly

"August" She repeated "Like I said I don't like to gossip to strangers about the going ons in the town, if you want to know what happened which I don't know why would you because it's really non of your business, I suggest you to go somewhere else" she told him sternly grabbing her things leaving him alone "And nice to meet you but not at the same time, maybe it'll be more of a pleasure knowing you if you're not that vague on what you want"

She stood up and walked away leaving August with a smirk on his face

"Oh, so good you haven't change at all Victoria"
