Chapter 2- The bestest of friends
I started blushing like crazy. And I couldn't stop smiling! I had just gotten an adorable guy's phone number! And he was now my best friend! That night, I couldn't stop texting him. We were texting all night. It turns out I live one floor below Cameron in the same building! Also, we rode the bus together in the morning and in the afternoon. Every day, he would wait for me at the front doors in the lobby and we would walk to the bus. We would go to school and walk with each other to the classes we had together. We became best friends. One day he asked me to hang out with him at the park across the street. We were going to bike and skate. Of course I said yes! So, on Saturday morning, he waited for me in the lobby by the doors.
We walked to the park... and all of a sudden he grabbed my hand. Yes. He grabbed it, and wouldn't let go. My hands started to shake like crazy. I could tell he noticed because then he just interlocked his fingers with mine and was holding my hand even tighter, but not super tight. We both brought our skateboards and we skated around the park.
"Bet I can beat you to the swings!" Yelled Cameron, speeding up.
"I bet you can't!" I yelled back, going even faster than him. As I turned the corner, this kid appeared out of nowhere. My eyes got wide because she was right in my path. I swerved off the sidewalk and fell into a ditch. "OOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" I screamed at the top of my lugs. I looked up at the kid and she was vanishing right before my eyes. It was almost like she was dissolving. And no one seemed to see her but me. Then, she was gone.
"Sarah! Are you alright?" He appeared out of no where and helped me out of the ditched and hugged me close. I hugged him back.
"Yeah. I'm fine... Ow ow ow ow! My leg hurts really bad when you touch it. Is that bone supposed to be sticking out like that?" I said, pointing to my knee.
"No! Come on. We have to take you to the hospital!"
"Oh, okay. But first let me- hey!" He picked me up and carried me to a taxi. He even paid for the taxi. I called my mom and told her what happened. She didn't seem too upset. He sat right outside my room the entire time the surgery was happening. When he was allowed in, he rushed in and looked me right in the eyes.
"Are you alright? I'm SO sorry! This is all my fault!" Cameron said, rubbing his head.
"No Cam. It's not your fault! It's no one's fault. If anything, it was the little girl's fault. She was in my path."
"What little girl?" He said, a concerned tone in his voice.
"You didn't see her?"
"No."
"Oh shoot... She must have been a ghost..."
"Wait, what!? You saw a ghost!?"
"I think so. Right after I crashed, she seemed to dissolve into thin air. Then she was completely gone!"
"Well, THAT'S not freaky at all!"
"I know right."
"Well, the good part is you are still here with me." Cameron said, holding my hand and kissing my cheek.
