I Don't Teach

Artemis calmly studied a book, taking note of how quiet it is.... Where's his kid?

"Hey, dad, hi," Beatrix began, approaching him. "So, I know that we haven't really seen eye to eye this past week, but I really need to go and um.... Head to the library! Yeah! I have to go check out a few books, so I'll be back shortly!"

The girl practically sprinted out of the home, Artemis giving a confused glance. What was that about?

"Hey, Slick." Artemis called.

The wolf Kwami came out of his hiding spot, saying "Yeah?"

"Was I this weird and rebellious as a kid?"

Slick gave him and unimpressed look, saying "Kid, you were worse."

.

Artemis stared in horror at the sight in front of him. What. The. FUCK.

"Okay, so your car's dinked." Marinette stated.

"Dinked. No, a flat tire is dinked. This is destroyed! It's a miracle that it's even standing!" Artemis said, gripping at his hair.

The car's windshield was cracked, one of the tires wasn't even there, the rest were all flat, the rearview mirrors were shattered. Pieces of metal were bent and folded, the steering wheel having a chunk missing from it.

"I swear, I almost want to ask Adrien's father for advice. How did this even happen?!"

The sound of a cough caught the two's attention, both of them lookin cup to see Mirror-Weaver relaxing in the tree branches above their heads.

"YOU!"

"Me."

"Oh, you must be Mirror-Weaver! I'm Marinette, nice to meet you!" Marinette introduced, holding out a hand.

The girl lowered herself down with a web, taking the hand.

"Why are you here?" Artemis growled, glaring at the girl.

"Oh relax. I was in the neighborhood and figured that I'd see what all the fuss is about.... Man, the car is dinked."

"OH YA THINK?!" Artemis all but shouted.

"It's a shame that we'll never know what happened to it. Rest in peace, car. You are now with the great big streets in the sky." Mirror-Weaver said with a mix of humor and sarcasm.

"That reminds me.... When was the last time that you heard from your kid?" Marinette asked.

Artemis sighed. Damn it. The two always got along well enough.... Now, she's been so angry and rebellious that he can't figure her out! I mean, bringing a dagger to school?! She's trying to get him arrested.

"She said that she'd be going to the library.... She never said which one though.... I just got tricked, didn't I?"

"Oh yeah, she played you like a fiddle." Mirror-Weaver commented.

An explosion caught the three's attention, Mirror-Weaver swinging off.

"Finally! Today was getting boring!" Artemis exclaimed.

"Tiki, spots on!"

"Slick, hunt start!"

Once the two arrived, they saw a giant hole in the middle of the road. Mirror-Weaver was already there, talking to someone on her mirror. He could only pick up bits and pieces of the conversation.

"What- no I'm nowhere near the explosion- mom! It's fine, okay? Yes, I know. Love you too, bye."

She hung up the phone, Ladybug saying "Mirror-Weaver, do you know the cause of the explosion?"

The girl nodded, saying "I think so. It's really weird for an explosion though."

"How so?" Silver Lupin asked.

"Well, for starters, look at this hole. Yes, there are the burn marks of a normal explosion, but it's more like the explosion was faced down. This wouldn't work well for a larger bomb, so the best bet is we're either looking for someone who's packing some serious heat, or we're looking for a walking explosion."

Lupin thought. This was definitely related to the explosion last week.

Mirror-Weaver's mirror lit up again, the girl letting out a groan.

She answered the call, saying "Mom, what is it now?!"

Lupin winced, as did Ladybug. Oh, the things their parents would do to them.

"No, just give me a second to wrap things up.... Fine. No! Do not get dad involved! Then last thing I need is him stalking over my shoulder! Look, I'll see you later, bye!"

She hung up, clearly agitated.

"Is umm.... Are you okay kid?" Lupin questioned.

"Mirror."

She walked over to a pane of glass, stepping through the reflection.

".... Remember when I said that she's innocent? Forget that, you should teach the kid your ways."

"WHAT?!"

Ladybug started to walk away, saying "Yeah. Maybe you two will bond or something."

"I don't teach, that's not in the job description!"

"Artemis, she's a kid. She needs to learn something. And, the closer you get, the sooner you could find out who's under the mask."

Fuck. She has a point.

*Later on*

Beatrix let out a sigh, bored out of her mind. God- why is it that nothing interesting ever happens? She pulled out her phone, calling a number. It rang for a couple seconds before there was finally an answer.

"Hey, Maxine, I need you to kidnap me legally."

".... You mean you need be to come and get you because you're bored?" A feminine voice asked in response.

"Yes. Please. Now."

"I'll be there in five."

Hanging up, Beatrix made her way out of her room. She immediately regretted this the moment that she saw both of her parents in the living room.

'Fuck.' She thought. "You have the 'we need to talk' look, what did I do?"

"Bea.... Where were you earlier today?" Lila asked.

"Library, like I said." Bea casually responded.

"Bea, I checked, you weren't at the library. So, we'll ask again, where were you?" Artemis said, glaring.

Bea winced at the glare. Fucking hell, she hated the glare.

"I um.... No comment?"

"Beatrix, this has to stop. You've been getting more and more reckless, and now it's getting out of hand!" Artemis said, looking down.

"Right, because you of all people are an absolute saint." Beatrix retorted. "Oh, the mighty Artemis Snidole, what an amazing person he is!"

"Watch yourself, Beatrix. I am not in a good mood." Artemis warned.

She turned away from them, saying "Oh daddy, are you disappointed in me? Whatever shall I do but cower under the fist of Silver Lupin."

Now that,  that made him pause.

"Don't give me that look. You made it oh so obvious, especially with your poor excuses where you just run off without an explanation."

"Right because you totally got your lying skills from me." Artemis scoffed. "And you can't just do whatever you want, that's dangerous!"

She still didn't face him, saying "And you're such a dangerous person."

"Look at me when I speak to you, Beatrix!"

When she turned around, Artemis found himself under the look of his own glare. Huh, so that's what that feels like. Beatrix stormed off into her room, Artemis letting out a sigh. Fuck, parenting wasn't easy.

He didn't know it, but his daughter was currently sneaking out of a window.
