Kawaii here! So you're probably super confused already, that's okay. I'm here to help you n.n So first things first, what is the overall plot?? Well here you go lovelies! Below is a perfect explanation (maybe lol)

Why does the story begin with Cinder?
A. The story is based around a group of people who are basically a family of really good friends who care and love one another. This group also happens to take in kids who have nowhere to go, as long as they follow the mother's rules. So. The woman, Caria is the group mother, she oversees the kids/teens/and a childish guy named Jerry. Cinder was taken in by the group and befriends a girl named Isaly Aubin, but she's not who she's claims to be (revealed later on). Cinder actually saved Isaly from being attacked by an older kid. Cinder defended her and attacked the kid with her semblance (this is when she found out she had pyrokinesis). Isaly and Cinder lived in the group ad "sisters", but Isaly did have a family, so she only visited when she could. Upon growing older Isaly became a very distinguished intelligent young woman and Cinder had problems with her semblance and began seeing a mystery man who was leading her to Salem's side. Cinder became jealous of Isaly and the two got in a major fight. (The whole epilogue).
