Chapter One

The Sun rose up in the sky and our dear young heroine was up and ready to go to Diagon Alley with Hagrid.

"Have fun Spirit. Try not to get caught in a fight like last time," Alpha said, saying her farewell to Spirit before she go.

"I promise and I thought we made a deal about reminding about that day," Spirit said, chuckling slightly.

"I know." Alpha chuckled as Spirit headed for Hagrid's hut. "Have fun!"

Hagrid was just about to leave the hut when Spirit knocked the door. He opened the door and smiled. "Ready?" He asked.

"Yup!" Spirit replied, smiling. She's not excited or anything but she sure loves how the sun shines so bright on that day.

"Great! Let's get startin'." Hagrid lead the way to the train. He handed Spirit the list of things that she'll need for her time in Hogwarts.

"I need a broomstick? Great," she said sarcastically as she read the list through in her head. "And I definitely need a wand. Double great."

"Well all the witches and wizards need a wand so accept the custom," Hagrid said. "You're lucky to have such talent in magic, not able to need a wand to do them. I wish I have that power."

"Well you have your umbrella-wand so what's the matter? I know you got kicked out of Hogwarts but still," she said, not understanding Hagrid's ambition on having a wand.

"Well I 'idn't finish my education now 'id I?" Hagrid asked.  It was actually a rhetorical question.

"Oh yeah......"

"Now come on.  We need to get you to Diagon Alley before sun's down. By the way, what pet do you want?"

"Um..... I don't mind really," she replied with a shrug.

"Well how does a bat sound?" Hagrid asked with a hopeful smile.

Spirit looked at him, eyes sparkling in joy. "YES!" She exclaimed, excitedly.

After taking a few trains, they both arrived at Diagon Alley.  Spirit and Hagrid headed for the pet store first where they looked at the bat section for the "right" bat.

"How about this one?" Hagrid hold a cage with a vampire fruit bat inside it.  Spirit shook her head no.  "This one?" He showed her a notoperis bat which has black fur and some orange tint in the fur.  It was quite cute but Spirit denied.

After a while, they still haven't found a bat that seems right, even Hagrid agreed that half of the bats in the store wasn't good enough.  They went to see the other animals available.  "How about wolves?" Hagrid asked Spirit, hoping it'll fit her liking.

"Sure."

They went to see some wolves and found a perfect arctic wolf. "She's so cute~" Spirit cooed. "I'll take this one, Hagrid."

"A beauty ain't she?" He asked, smiling down at the small white cub.

"Yup!" She picked the little cub and nuzzled her. "You'll be safe with me, little guy."

They bought the permit to own the little animal then headed out with Spirit holding a cage with the little guy inside.

"What's the other stuff on the list?" Hagrid asked.

"A wand and a spell, potion, history and herbology book," Spirit replied.

"I'll go and get the books while you get the wand, sound good?"

"Okay. Um..... Where's the wand store?" She asked.

"Just around the corner. You can't miss it. It's the best wand maker store ever," Hagrid replied. "Meet me at the entrance/exit in 3 hours."

"Alright thanks."

Spirit walked to the store then entered, making the bell ring as she did. "Oh hello," a man came out out of no where and gave her a smile. "Pleasure to meet you. Come to find your first one?"

"Uh yeah. How did you kn-" she stopped herself mid-sentence then chuckled. "I see. Nice one."

"Mhm. Now give me a moment while I go and find a wand for you. You see, the user doesn't chose the wand, the wand chooses their user," he explained.

"I kinda figured that out."

"Ah, this one seems to be right for you," the man said and took out a long box then came to Spirit. "Give this a little swing." He opened the box then handed her the wand inside it. She did as he was told once she got hold of the wand. Nothing happened. "Doesn't seem to belong to you." He snatched the wand out of her hand as he said so and went to find more wands that seem suited to her. Every time he gives a wand to her, he'd either snatch it away from her before she could give it a try or even hold it. Finally, he gave her a wand but this was different. Spirit felt a strong force holding her. She can feel her hair flying up slightly and felt stronger. "Interesting...... Very interesting.....," the man mumbled to himself.

"What?" Spirit looked at him, confused and slightly creeped out.

"Nothing nothing. Enjoy your time in Hogwarts. Good day, goodbye," he said and smiled at her, pushing her towards the door.

"Uh don't I-" she started to say but before she could even finish her sentence, she found herself outside the store. "Well that was kinda weird...... And rude," she mumbled to herself. She looked at the clock that was conveniently nearby. 2 more hours. She decided to explore Diagon Alley a bit more.  The wolf cub barked in her little bag-cage thing, wanting to roam the alley as well.  Spirit hushed her and continued to walk on like she heard nothing.  Well until she bumped into someone that is.  "Oof," she grunted as she fell on her butt.  "I-I'm so sorry.  I didn't-" Spirit stopped herself as she looked up to only found herself staring into - to what she thinks - dazzling emerald eyes that belongs to a boy around her age.  He had what seems to be dark brown hair, some ginger can be seen under the sunlight.

"It's fine.  It was an accident.  I should have watched where I was going anyways," the boy said, helping Spirit up.  "Name's Sebastian.  Sebastian Denial."  He smiled cutely at her which made Spirit blush.  For once in her lifetime, she found herself dumbfounded and feel her heart thump very quickly. "What's yours?"

Spirit finally snapped out of her thoughts then replied, stuttering and stammering her words. "L-L-Lucy.  C-c-call me Spirit."

"Pleasure to meet you, Spirit," he said, smiling warmly and kind to her.  "I hope I can see you some time."

"Y-y-yeah.  I h-hope so too," Spirit said to him, blushing at how idiotic she must have sound like and stuttering, getting rather nervous for no weird reason.  He's a bloody boy!  Just a boy!  Stop acting like you've fallen for him!  You only just met him, Spirit! She thought to herself.

"Well see ya!" Sebastian said, waving goodbye to her then rushed off.

2 hours past and Spirit is waiting at the entrance/exit of Diagon Alley. "Sorry for ya to wait. I foun' myself in a queue at the counter also I was slightly hungry," Hagrid said and gave Spirit a sheepish smile.

"It's fine Hagrid. Did you buy anything for me? I'm hungry too."

"Sure did," he said and handed her the food. "Your favourite."

"Thanks Hagrid," Spirit said, smiling at him.

On 5th September, Spirit was in her uniform but something was different to her uniform. She doesn't know if the other three new transfer students will be the same but all she know is that wearing hood to hide their face wasn't something that has happened before.

"Today is your special day, Spirit," Alpha said, using her magic to groom her hair. "You ready?"

"I think so," Spirit said. "I mean, this will be my first time going to school."

"I know and it'll be exciting for you, I'm sure," Alpha said, reassuringly.

"If you say so," Spirit sighed.

Alpha offered Spirit a ride on her back to go Hogwarts at night. She doesn't want to but Alpha insisted so she did as she was told. The moon was full and was shining bright, making Spirit's hair glimmer. Alpha stopped at the doorstep. "Here we are, Hogwarts school for Witchcraft and Wizardry," Alpha sighed. Spirit got off of her then patted her head.

"Cheer up," Spirit chuckled.

"Spirit, I want to give you something before you go," Alpha said to her. "I want you to have this." She showed Spirit a necklace with a magic crystal on it.

"Alpha, that's-"

"A powerful gemstone that'll protect you from any danger. I want you to have it."

"I can't Alpha. It was made to protect all unicorns from predators. I can't. I really can't," Spirit said, tears swelling up.

"Spirit, I want you safe and protected more than me being protected. Please." Spirit bowed her head as Alpha put the necklace on her. "You'll always be my sister and my best friend, Spirit. Even if I leave this world."

"Alpha......" Spirit hugged her by the neck, tears streaming down.

"You do well in school now, okay?"

"Alright." Spirit let go of Alpha and wiped her tears away with her sleeve.

"Awwww this is so cute~" a high pitch voice came from behind Spirit. "So emotional but surely, you can't miss a unicorn. It's not like it's your family." Spirit turned around to meet the girl. She has long curly and frizzy blonde hair. She has emerald eyes and seems to be the type of person that's annoyingly hyper. "Hi. I'm Brianna. Brianna Hepworth," she introduced herself. "Pleasures."

"You.... Too...." Spirit said, uncertain if she could trust this Hepworth girl.

"I'll leave you now. Good luck," Alpha said then left. Spirit glanced at her before she disappeared into the forest and clutched onto her necklace. May you be protected, Alpha.

"So tell me, what's the unicorn to you?" Brianna asked.

"She's my family and her name is Alpha, mind you," Spirit replied.

"Family? What happened to your real one?"

"You know for a girl on their first day, you're quite the hyper type that asked awfully a lot of questions," Spirit said, irritated already.

"Funny, that's what they all say."

"This school is huge," a deep voice gasped. Brianna and Spirit turned to their sides and saw two boys, one Spirit already met.........
