"Welcome back agents," the commander greeted them as they got off the ship.

"As the same to you Commander," Laureline replied, grinning.

"Great to see you also smartie," Valerian said, smirking as he passed the commander.

"Great to see you too snarky," the Commander replied curtly. Valerian faked hurt as Tom and Grace walked in.

"Great to see you Commander," Grace replied curtly and the Commander replied with a respectful nod of a head.

"Awww, how come I don't get one?" Valerian whined.

"Cause you never did anything to deserve one," Laureline shot back at him.

"Stop fighting and get the package!" Tom complained.

"Already have it," Laureline smugly said, smirking as she pulled the little box out of her suit.

"Show off."

Grace rolled her eyes and hit both Valerian and Tom in the shoulder as she passed them. The rest of the group followed in suit as they saw the Commander leaving with Grace. They all smiled as they observed the Alpha as they walked along the transparent glass way, staring in wonder at the beauty around the place even though they saw it a million times before. Walking pass a million doors, they finally stopped in front of the command center and were greeted by the busy clacking sounds of computers and people racing back and forth.

"Ah, our favorite agents are finally back!"

The group stood a bit straighter as the General greeted them, smiling a bit as he observed them.

"How was coping with Agents Tom and Valerian girls?" he asked them and he smiled as he saw the obvious roll of eyes.

"They were absolute a-holes," Grace and Laureline said at the same time.

At that, the whole control center was filled with muffled snickers and laughter. The boys, unamused, glared at the two girls who innocently shrugged at them. The General laughed heartily with the Commander.

"Sounds great Agents! Well since you have retrieved the package, there's the second part of the mission left to introduce" he said as he led them to the main screens. Typing quickly he pulled up the file and opened it, sending multiple links across the screen automatically.

"This is the file you guys must read by tomorrow and a quick debrief will take place before you guys take off but for now a more important mission is a hand," he said as he turned to face them again," I need a guard from your group."

The four agents looked at each other in disbelief and started laughing as the shocked face of the General was staring at them.

"Wait,wait, are you serious? Your safety is way more important than this package we almost got killed to retrieve?" Valerian asked, wiping the rest of his tears of laughter away.

"Yes, and for that outburst you agents will be suspended and Valerian would be the guard."

"What?!" the agents yelled.

Soon, they were swarmed around by guards and Grace, Tom, and Laureline were handcuffed and dragged away.

"Now with that settled, handle Agent Valerian and make sure he doesn't get away"

"This isn't about guarding right?" Valerian asked suspiciously as he saw the General walk to the main screens again. The General nodded at the Commander and soon everyone was being ushered out.

"You are correct Valerian and I promise I won't hurt any of your friends if you tell me why you were trying to access the restricted files"

"What restricted files?" asked Valerian innocently when he was actually freaking out in the inside on how the General knew that.

"Oh, don't be like that Valerian, you know I will get the answers I want and you know how exactly I'm going to do that"

The General then walked over to a button on a side console, revealing a hidden screen and Valerian almost choked when he saw what was on it.

"Now, tell me out your fellow agents will end up into piles of ashes," the General said as Valerian looked in horror at the screen with his friends forced in front of the screen......

And behind them was a huge pit of fire.

Sorry I couldn't write in a while! With school giving me like loads of homework, it's impossible to write anything. I'll try doing a double update!

And also I decided that this book won't follow the original storyline for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets as indicated on how this chapter's story is.
