CHAPTER EIGHT: THE SORTING HAT
I held tightly to Harry's hand as we walked into the large castle. The boat ride itself had been relatively uneventful, but I was so nervous. I don't know what it was about Harry but I just felt calmer around him. "I feel the same." Harry said quietly. I looked at him confused, and he looked a little confused as well. "Did you just...." "......hear your thoughts?" Harry finished. "Neat." We both said at the same time, which made us laugh. Eventually we came to stop in front of a big set of doors in a large entry hall. "Wicked." I heard Ron say behind us. I smiled and nodded. I recognized Professor McGonagall as she stepped forward. "Now, ladies and gentlemen. You are about to be sorted into your houses. Your houses are like your families. Good behavior will earn your family points, bad behavior will cause you to lose points." She explained. "You will be called up in alphabetical order by last name. When you are called step forward to be sorted." She explained as the large doors opened to reveal a large dining hall. We all slowly began to walk into the hall, and the more steps we took the tighter my chest felt. Eventually we came to a stop in front of what looked to be a old stool with a hat on it. I was confused and looked over at Harry but the hat began to sing.
"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
Once the hat was done people began to clap. "I'm gonna strangle Fred. He was going off about having to fight a troll." Ron said from behind us. I smiled. Soon Professor McGonagall began to call names and people were sorted, I noticed the pretty brown haired girl got sorted into Gryffindor. Soon she got to Harry's name. "Potter, Harry." Professor McGonagall called which caused the room to go silent. Harry slowly walked up and I smiled at him. Harry sat down and the hat was put on his head. After a few seconds I heard a voice, Harry's, saying "Not Slytherin, Not Slytherin." Soon the hat roared "Gryffindor!" There was a large cheer from the red and gold table. "We got Potter! We got Potter!" I heard the twins yell as Harry walked over to his table, he smiled at me as he passed. "Potter, Rose." Professor McGonagall called, which caused the room to go dead silent. I slowly began to walk up to the stool. I began fiddling with the necklace Momma gave me. I sat down on the stool and waited for McGonagall to put the hat on my head. As soon as she did I heard a voice. "My my, isn't this a rare occurrence." The hat said. "What?" I asked quietly. "You seem to hold in you the blood of all four founders. This will make placing you rather difficult. You're kind and caring, but also intelligent and creative, you are brave and outgoing, but also cunning and sly. You belong in all of the houses." The hat said. "Then which do I go to?" I asked. "You chose." The hat says. Without hesitation I say. "Gryffindor." The hat repeats my choice and the red and gold table cheers. McGonagall smiles at me as she pulled the hat off my head and I hop down off the stool. As soon as my feet hit the floor there was a large gust of wind and gold sparks began to swirl around me. There was a large gasp from around the room and I looked down. I was in a beautiful red and gold dress, and my hair was curled beautifully and I had a gorgeous red and gold crown on my head the weirdest thing was I was holding a beautiful sword with rubies in the hilt.
Her Dress
Her Hair
Her Crown
Her Sword
A man with a long silvery beard and half moon glasses stood up at the teacher's table and began to clap. Slowly everyone else started to clap as well. I blushed heavily and Professor McGonagall smiled gently at me, gesturing me towards the table. I walked over and sat next to Harry with a smile. He hugged me tightly. "Why didn't you say you were my sister?" He asked. "I never got the chance." I replied. We smiled at one another as the old man who clapped for me stood up and gave a welcoming speech. Soon after he was done the plates in front of us filled with delicious looking food. We began to eat and talk with everyone at the table. I learned that the pretty brown haired girl's name was Hermione and we became fast friends with one another. Eventually it was over and Percy stood up and asked for the first years to follow him. I held Harry's hand as we walked to the Gryffindor common room. Percy explained where the boy's rooms were and where the girl's rooms were. I hugged Harry. "Goodnight brother." I said. "Goodnight sister." Harry replied. I let go and walked upstairs to the girl's rooms. I fed Yui and Mia before I changed into my cute PJs
and climbed into bed. I smiled softly as Mia snuggled under my arm and Yui perched on the headboard. "Goodnight Hermione." I said before falling asleep.
