Chapter 5

Remember those doggy boys, the Erasers? Did you think that they came looking for me? Answer: Yes. Did you think they would find me the next morning? Answer: Yes. I woke up inside something dark and scratchy. My hands were tied together with a thick piece of rope and my mouth had a piece of duct tape on it. I began screaming through the tape, hoping somebody would hear me, but I know now that doesn't always work.

"Somebody shut her up." A voice called out. It sounded like a female. I was greeted with a friendly punch to my nose and a kick to the stomach. If I had eaten earlier, I probably would've hurled. I groaned through my tape and tried to grip my stomach, resulting in me falling off what I assumed was a bench.

A strong hand grabbed me by the arm and threw me back onto the bench. The top of my bag opened and I looked up at, you guessed it, Jax.

He grinned, grabbing my chin and pulling my head up. "We're going home, Experiment SN1703NT." He raised his fist and everything went black.

Do you guys understand how cheery my life is yet? Didn't think so. I woke up again, but this time inside my cage. I was isolated with no cages around me and the door as company. My mouth was tape-free and my hands had a rash from my rope. I slumped back into the corner and looked down at my clothes, the normal hospital gowns. I was back.

"Take it in there. It won't last long anyway. Take note of it's emotions." The door opened and a man holding a cage stalked in. Inside the cage was a young boy, only around 8, who had numerous numbers itched on his back. Red dots speckled his pale skin and he had enormous bags under his eyes. I couldn't help gasping.

The man threw the cage my direction and the boy looked at me with pale eyes. As the door slammed shut, he reached for my hand and I took it gently.

"It's ok. Your safe now. You're safe. You're gonna be fine. I promise." His muscles seemed to ease at my words and he smiled faintly.

"T-thank you." He whispered as his eyes closed. He went limp. I let go of his hand and sat as close to him as I could. Tears formed in my eyes as I remembered that the white coats did this to me every few months for the past ten years. One person that had died this way was Trinity.

A young woman walked in and held a white box. "Is it dead? Experiment SN1703NT, answer me." She walked up to me, her face unfeeling. I quickly backed away as she took the cage that the boy was in and set it onto a cart. I glanced around the room, searching for any possible escape other than the door when I realized a small camera in the corner. I squinted my eyes as I looked at the camera, which most would take as an insult, but I could see through the other cameras in the system. One room showed a group of scientists looking over my data files, comparing them to another experiments.

"Should we test her?" One asked.

"Very well. Bring her cage to the maze."

"Of course." One scientist left and I focused my gaze out of the camera and onto the door. Soon enough, the guy walked in.

"Come on you. Time for some tests." He grabbed my cage and carried it onto a rack. As he pushed me down the hallway, I couldn't help but look into other rooms. Some held other kids like me being tested and one held a map of our world. I didn't have enough time to memorize the map. We reached a small door and the man opened it, revealing a white room with a maze. I remained silent as a dozen thoughts ran through my head, mostly concerning how I wouldn't get shocked.
