Part Twenty One: Homeward Bound

Once Elena woke up she was surprised to see that she was in the palace. Then the memories came flooding back. She quickly rushed out of bed and out of the room. "Your Highness? Your Majesty!" Elena called. "E-Elena? What's w-wrong?" Evelyn stumbled out of her room. "I need to leave, my friends must be worried...I mean-they're not my friends or anything! I don't have friends!" she proceeded to panic but was interrupted by a servant walking up to them. "You requested the king's presence?" he asked. Elena nodded and the servant walked off to find King Aaron. "Elena, there's n-nothing wrong w-w-with having f-friends..."Evelyn muttered. "Uh yeah,I know that. It's just kind of new for me..." Then King Aaron approached them.

"What did you need, Elena?" he asked. "I really have to go..."

 "Like, to the bathroom?"

"NOT THAT KIND OF GO!

Evelyn giggled, "She m-means h-home, she h-has to go h-home..." Elena nodded. "Aw, you didn't even get to eat breakfast yet...They have so much food prepared too..." he muttered. Elena laughed, "I'll have to eat breakfast with you another day. Cole and Monica are probably really worried." He sighed, "Yes, they  are. They've been looking for the assassin and you at the same time...it's not going very well.." he replied. "They should be home now, so that's good!" King Aaron immediately perked up and led them towards the exit. "You won't have any problems getting home, right Evelyn?" asked Elena. Evelyn shook her head, "N-nope!" she let out a small smile. Then they arrived at the palace gates. "Farewell, my friends!" King Aaron waved at them as they left. Elena noticed the hoard of bodyguards surrounding him, they must be worried about another attack...she thought.

It didn't take very long for Evelyn to get Elena home. The little cottage was right up the hill and it was just as Elena had left it. "Thank you, Evelyn. I never could've done this by myself." Evelyn shook her head, "I-I'm s-sure you c-could have!" Elena sighed, "You're not used to praise are you?" Evelyn shook her head again and waved goodbye before she flew off. Elena waved back and ran up to the cottage.

Once she opened the door she immediately saw Cole sitting over a desk filing papers? "Um, what are you doing Cole?" she asked. His head immediately perked up and he let out a loud sigh,"Thank God." he muttered before running up to Elena and bear-hugging her. "Can't b-breathe!" Monica then ran down the stairs, "Holy mother of narwhals! She's alive!" Elena was released from Cole's deathgrip. "We thought that the assassin had gotten you...but I'm glad we're mistaken." Cole said. "You guys were kind of right actually..." Elena replied. "WHAT?!?!"they both said in unison. "I was...kidnapped."Elena stated. "Oh, wow...I didn't know that the assassin would do anything like that..." Monica mumbled. "That's what I thought, too. He never clearly said that he was the assassin...he might be an accomplice or an assistant of sorts." Elena pondered the possibilities. "Do you think there's more assassins than one?" Cole asked. "I'm not sure...he never said anything that would lead me to that conclusion at least." Elena responded. Monica asked, "What did he look like? We can report him to the authorities!" "We should try to interrogate him as much as possible...I'm not sure if the police would do that efficiently or not. He had white hair, one blue eye and one green." Elena said. "He has Heterochromia?" Cole questioned. Elena nodded but Monica was utterly confused, "What's that dumb word even mean?" she asked. "It's when someone has two different colored eyes, that's super rare." Cole explained. "He was also a dragon, he was...white, yeah he was a white dragon." Elena confirmed. "Elena...I think I get it now..." Cole said. "Get what?" Monica asked.

"He must be a part of the Dragon Resistance."
