Chapter 7
It had been a week sense the attack. Brandon had gone to look for any close by towns or villages or just some place better to stay. So I had to do most of the hunting and I couldn't go as far because I didn't have Ginger and I was alone.
I then let go of the arrow and watched as it flew threw the air hitting a rabbit.
It was a big rabbit and probably the biggest one I had ever got. When I saw that it was died I went over and picked it up. I took it and put the rabbit in my bag so I could continue on.
I thought I would go to the river today to see what was down there. I liked walking down there in the mornings. The cool air and the forest nosies calmed me.
It also reminded me of the past. When me and Loren would run around in the meadow just outside our town with no worry of anything. Those times seemed like the best times to me. We where just kids, but now it doesn't seem like it was that long ago.
When I reached the river it was calm as usual.
I then saw the fish swimming in the river and got an idea. Maybe if I shot an arrow at on of the fish I could catch one.
I went to the bank and drew my bow and pointed it into the water. As fish swam by I saw one coming to me that was close to the surfaces of the water. As it swam by me I let go and watched as it hit the fish and the others swam away. I quickly grabbed it before the fish could go down stream.
As I was putting the fish in the bag with the rest of my catch I heard growling and whimpering. Though my instincts told me to leave, my curiosity told me to go see what it was. So I followed the noise till it lead me to a clearing. In the clearing was some kind of wolf. It looked like one of the monsters. I stayed down hoping it hadn't noticed me yet. It seemed as if it was attacking something. I slowly took an arrow and pointed at the black furry animal. Soon after I let go the wolf was laying on the ground died.
When it fell there was a small wolf pup behind it. The wolf had light grey fur and blue eyes. One of its back paws was red and seemed as if that is where the wolf had tried to attack it. I picked it up and it didn't seem to mind. I looked around to make sure it's mother was nowhere to be found then left.
When I got back to the house Heather took a look at the wolf pup. She soon came to me to tell me how the pup was. "She'll be ok. Her leg will need to heal." She said. "Ok. What do you think we should name her?" I asked as the question came into my head.
