Zoey Anderson is in denial.

Unable to cope with a car accident that ended her best friends’ life, Zoey is in a constant state of anger.

At herself. At the world. Especially at her family, who insist on acting as if nothing happened.

All Zoey wants is for her parents to stop scrutinizing her every move with questioning eyes of disappointment. But it seems that no matter how Zoey acts she will never live up to their expectations.

The small town of Ashford is full of sorrow and regret. Being constantly haunted by the ghost of her dead friend isn’t exactly helping either.

When her estranged ‘friend’ Zack corners her about her ‘newfound attitude’ she is caught off guard by the sudden confession. Hoping to get everyone off her back once and for all, Zoey takes Zack’s ‘advice’ and catches her alienated parents off guard by getting a job at Sals Pizza Joint.

Things go smoothly until the father of her dead best friend orders a pie, leaving Zoey pain-stricken and tongue-tied at their awkward encounter after nearly a year since the funeral.

Despite having to face the grief stricken parent, things start to look up for the mildly depressed seventeen year old. Slowly Zoey starts to come out of her shell by taking Zack up on his offer to ‘hang out’ after school.

Trying to move on is difficult for young Zoey, especially when wind of town gossip reaches her, making things take a turn for the worst.

Being accused of sleeping around is nothing new for the town beauty. After all, she has become immune to the gossip of jealous women.

It’s the suppressed images of that night that make Zoey paranoid. It doesn’t help that every guy she meets resembles her attacker either.

Her brother, Landon, surprises the family when he comes back in town after nearly two years since leaving for college.

The excitement of her brothers’ return is long gone however, along with her paranoia, which only turns into a fearful reality when her attacker shows up at the front door.
