Chapter 13. Aftermath
Behind the most beautiful eyes, lay secrets deeper and darker than the mysterious sea.

Ariana's POV
The pain isn't even remotely close to what I thought. Every inch of my body was hurting like hell. Daniel wasn't making it easy for me either.
The moment Daniel sunk his fangs into my neck, he had turned into a completely different person. It was as if a beast has possessed him. He was taking big gulps and drinking greedily without thinking about my condition.
Instinctively, I tried to push him away not being able to bear the pain but he held me in a tight grip. At this rate, I don't even know whether I'll survive this.
Even if I'm a werewolf, I do need blood to survive. Without even a drop of blood in my system, I'll dissipate.
My eyelids felt heavy until finally darkness took over.
Daniel's POV
Everything within me ached. Ached for blood. Blood to quench the immense thirst.
This is what happens when you're a hybrid. You start becoming bloodthirsty to satisfy your vampire needs along with the werewolf side. Though, you can control this thirst by having blood once in a while.
But in my case, it's entirely different. I'm not like any other hybrid whose turned on a full moon under various rituals. My whole transformation was against nature's every possible law. And with forbidden transformation comes various of consequences.
I was a royal werewolf at first just like Ariel. But one day, I took a decision which probably caused me my life. Since there wasn't any other option to keep me alive, Evan, my friend and also the Vampire king, turned me into a vampire while I was still a werewolf. It surely did save me but I turned to a hybrid.
A hybrid with control issues. Initially, I had a lot of bloodthirst and also higtened emotions but it subsided with time as I got used to it. But when it is full moon, the beast inside me awakens. The thirst becomes so uncontrollable and the urge to shift becomes ten fold only that I am not able to shift which causes all the more pain. All the bones in my body start twisting, trying to shift while my throat hurts to no extent.
These sufferings can only stop if I drink blood but I don't trust myself on this day. On full moon, I become so blinded by thirst that I don't know how many people I would kill to quench that thirst.
So, I tie myself up with heavy metal chains and lock myself in a room. Usually, Ariel would be there for me, checking on me once in a while and getting me stored blood. I didn't trust myself around Ariel either but I know that when time comes, she's a lot more powerful than she potrays herself to be. She's the queen for a reason.
The only time I remember when I felt at peace and this pain reduced was when I was with Kiana. But since the day she betrayed and rejected me, the pain became ten fold stronger. It works on my emotions or how I feel according to Claire, a powerful royal white witch who's also Evan's cousin and my best friend.
Sadly, this time around Ariel had to leave and I was on my own until....
I snapped out of my reverie as everything came rushing back to me.
Ariana asking me whether I was okay. She offering her blood. Me refusing it. Then she bit on her wrist and when I still didn't make a move she....
Kissed me?
I wouldn't exactly consider it a kiss since she was just trying to transfer her blood to me by mouth to mouth technique....
I better not bring it up or else it'll be really awkward between us.
I felt something or rather someone stir below me and that is when I realised that my fangs were still attached to Ariana's neck.
Ariana's body was turning weak in my hold as her weight leant more on me. Her protest were slowly subsiding indicating she was loosing conciousness which is not a very good sign.
I quickly detached my fangs from her neck followed by running my tongue over the place to seal the wound but it was already late as her body slumped, colliding against my chest. I immediately wrapped my arms around her waist tightly preventing her from loosing balance. I glanced at Ariana's face only to find her looking deathly pale.
Damn! She's not okay. What if I have sucked her dry? Then she won't wake up. No, that can't happen.
I quickly picked her up in my arms and rushed towards my room. Thankfully, there wasn't anybody in the corridor. Ariel must have given them a day off to avoid suspicion about me being a hybrid. It's a secret to the world after all.
I kicked the door of the room in a hurry and rushed inside. Shutting the door behind me, I walked over to the bed with Ariana still in my arms and gently and carefully laid her down on the bed.
I reached my hand to her forehead to check her temperature. She's cold. Damn Cold and her body is stone still. Again, a very bad sign.
She isn't human that means it won't work if I insert blood in her system. Though, she's a werewolf. She'll heal herself and the lost blood will automatically be replaced by new ones due to the werewolf properties. But if there isn't even a single drop of blood left, then her healing properties won't work and she'll most probably....die.
Ariana can't die. She doesn't deserve to die. Why did she help me? She should have let me on my own.
I shouldn't have agreed to drink from her in the first place. If something happens to her than it will be my fault.
And I can't let someone die because of me, Again.
Ariana's POV
A new kind of darkness was engulfed around me. It was like I could feel the surrounding only that I couldn't see it. My body felt comfortable laying on the soft mattress underneath me which I think is of a bed's.
The pain I felt earlier was beyond my every possible torment but now, there is nothing. Not even a bit of pain.
I felt absolutely normal. Well, not completely but still it didn't feel like I was drained out of blood either.
I attempted a try once more to open my eyes. My eyes stung a little and my eyelids seemed reluctant to let me take a glimpse of my surrounding.
Not having the energy to fight against my eyelids, I let them stay as they are as I drifted back to sleep.
I gently fluttered my eyes open taking in the dimly lit room. The only source of light coming from the furnace lit at the corner of the room.
"I see, you're awake," My eyes caught sight of Daniel who stood up from the couch.
He looked better than before in fact he looked completely normal as if the man some time ago was just a fragment of my imagination and not real. He was now thankfully wearing a white shirt with the top few buttons undone along with the black jeans from earlier.
Daniel's footsteps clicking against the tiled floor echoed through the silent room as he made his way towards me. Once he was in front of me, he extended his hand to place his palm on my forehead which took me by surprise.
"You're temperature is turning back to normal," Daniel muttered before looking at me in the eyes, "How are you feeling?"
"Me?" I tilted my head a little.
"I don't see anybody else here," he replied in his signature coldness.
Now, what's wrong with him? I almost lost my life because of my own stupid idea but at least he can be a little generous to me for letting him drink from me.
Nevertheless,
"I'm feeling a bit tired, other than that I feel fine," I replied to see him give a single nod.
"No pain?"
I shook my head and saw him stare at me for a minute before speaking again,
"Okay, then. You should get some rest. You can sleep on the bed. I'll sleep on the couch for today," he retrieved his hand from my forehead as he picked up the extra blanket and walked towards the couch.
I heard his footsteps halt as he turned his head in my direction.
"By the way, Ariana. Never do what you did ever again."
