Chapter 5: Operation Revenge
Nope, nope, nope. A billion nopes. This is just a terrible, terrible dream.
"Delilah Lynn Reyes!" He boomed out. "Open your eyes and come here right now." My eyes flew open. Oh. So it isn't a dream. Well, shit.
"Hi Dimitri." I squeaked. I am well dead now.
"Grab your stuff and get in my car." He looked positively fuming, and I almost ran into the back room to get away from him. I heard him apologise to Ms Smith about what I've done, and I hurriedly got changed back into my normal clothing. I almost sprinted back to the front, avoiding eye contact and ducking my head low as I got into Dimitri's car.
As soon as my seatbelt were buckled in, Dimitri took off, making the engine of his car roar loudly. Not one word was exchanged during the car ride, and the atmosphere was tense. I absolutely hated it, but I don't need to apologise for anything. Getting a job is something every teenager have to do, so why can't I?
"Why are you so mad?" I blurted out after I could not take the horrid silence any longer.
He was silent for a whole second. "Why am I mad?" He grounded out. "I am mad because the girl that I am suppose to take care of has decided to get a job without my consent, and doesn't mind others to stare or jeer at her outrageous work outfit while working!" He exploded.
"Excuse me? Jeering and staring? Oh please I think you are starting to see things. And even if they are, I can't help that now, can I? Like you said, it's my work clothes." I breathed hard from anger. "Key words on work clothes Dimitri. I'm pretty sure your secretary wears less clothing, and she works for you! Shouldn't you be yelling at her instead of me?" I threw my hands up.
"I'm not yelling! And plus, she's different!" He shouted.
"Yes you are! You just did!" Ugh sometimes his head can be so thick. "How is she different? Just because you are banging her?" I screamed.
"There is no relationship other than the professional one we've maintained between me and her. She is different because I don't care about her, I care about you." Sure. As if he doesn't bang every thing that moves on this earth who has a vagina. "I don't want to see you hurt, and working there with all those perverted men will make you hurt one day." He continued softly.
"But Dima, there are always such risks in getting a job, does it mean that I will never get a job?" I stressed.
"No, but there are bad people out there. I can only feel safe when you are older, working under someone who is a professional." Ha! When I'm older? That'll have to be when I am over 60 years old to satisfy Dimitri.
"It's apart of growing up Dimitri, you shouldn't and can't stop me." I crossed my arms and leaned back against the leather seat.
"Yes I can, and I will. You are grounded until further notice." His tone was final. I huffed in annoyance. The nerve of him. I swear to god, one day I will rip him a new one.
I held my tongue back from voicing my thoughts, because I know that I would get in more trouble. If I want to get back at him, I have to do it smartly. I chuckled inwardly to myself, a master plan already forming in my head. You better watch out Dimitri.
I am officially grounded for the next three days, and I made use of all these time spent at home. My computer mouse glided over an ad.
Wanted: A secretary in the finance department, working for Miles Thompson.
Perfect. I noted down the name, and printed off my CV. Today was my last day of grounding, and first thing after school tomorrow, I am going to head to the office and talk to this Miles.
If he wants me to work for someone responsible and is a professional, then the people he employs in his company would be responsible enough, right?
I got ready for bed and fell asleep with a smile on my face. Phase one of the plan is already done. Now for the rest of the plan.

"You are crazy! He will kill you!" My best friend, Aaliyah shrieked.
"I know, but it's worth it, don't you think? I can get experience and a job, and I can use his words against him." I laughed, throwing my head back.
"But how will you know that they'll give you the job? It's a multi-billion dollar company, you are not even graduated."
"How could they refuse their late CEO's daughter looking for a job? Plus, I'll be taking over one half of the company once I graduate, I need to know at least the basic of how the company functions." Talking about my dad is still painful, but I am slowly getting use to it.
"Oh yeah, I always forget that you are actually rich." Aaliyah rolled her eyes.
"What do you mean by that?" I fiend hurt.
"I mean by the way you dress. You look like a hobo." She burst out laughing. "I'm joking I'm joking. I meant that you don't act spoilt like other girls."
I pouted. "That was not funny."
"Ah but you love me. So it doesn't matter." I shook my head, but I knew she was right. She was here for me through the toughest times, and didn't judge or use me to get popular. So I absolutely love her for it.
"Ok, I have to go. If I get there too late, I might miss the interview. I'll see you tomorrow." I leaned in and kissed her cheek quickly, giving her a hug before dashing off. I caught the first bus I saw, and began heading towards Surfers Paradise, where the large office was located. I walked up the familiar stairs to Romero Industry, my eyes glancing at the building next door. It used to be Feyes Industry, but Dimitri legally changed the name under my dad's consent to Romero Industry until my 18th birthday, or when I decide to take over.
I headed towards the front desk, smiling at a familiar face. "Hi Marie! How are you? Long time no see!" Surprised filled her aged eyes, before standing up and giving me a long hug over the counter.
"Delilah! Oh it feels like forever since I last saw you! You've gotten so much older! I'm good I'm good, how are you?" Marie smiled, her eyes crinkling into crows feet. Her kind smile never failed to make me feel at ease.
"I'm great thanks! How's Thomas and Hilary?" They are Marie's two children, and they are the cutest kids I've ever laid eyes on.
"They miss you! You must come say hi. Oh look at you, you've lost so much weight! Have you not been eating properly? I've gotta make you the cheesecake you love." My mouth watered at the mention of them.
"Ah, your famous cheesecakes, they ought to fatten me up!" We both laughed. Marie's cheesecakes are to die for. They are so good, I can eat the whole thing by myself.
"Anyways, what are you doing here darling? I know it's not to see me because your eyes keep darting everywhere. Trying to find a boy?" She wiggled her eyebrows.
I laughed, blushing. She always thought that there are something between Dimitri and I, and nothing I say will change what she thinks. "No I am here to see a Miles Thompson."
Marie furrowed her eyebrows. "Miles Thompson? Well he is a fine young lad but don't you think-"
"Oh no that's not why I am looking for him!" I laughed, cutting her off. "I want to ask him about his open secretary job."
"A job? You know you can just ask Dimitri right? But he won't be very happy about this." She wagged her finger at me.
"That's why you can't tell him anything, please." I begged.
"Alright darling I won't, but this is his company, he will find out eventually." She laughed. I know that she speaks of the truth, but frankly I don't really care.
"His office is on the twenty-first floor, he shouldn't be in a meeting now, so just go right up." I smiled at her appreciatively.
"Thanks Marie, I really do appreciate it."
She waved me off with a grin. "Make sure to come and visit us. And you better do it soon." I saluted her.
"Yes m'am!" I headed towards the elevator, smiling occasionally at people that I know. I stepped into the elevator, thanking the lord that no one came in with me. I hated awkward elevator conversations. The elevator pinged open on my floor, and I stepped out cautiously. Well, here goes nothing. I took a deep breath.

"Wait, so you want to what?" Miles asked me. I sighed inwardly. When will this man get over the fact that I want a job?
"Yes Mr Thompson, I would like to apply for the role of your secretary."
"Call me Miles, Mr Thompson makes me sound old." I nodded. "Wait, what I am not getting at here is, why would you come to me for a job, when you can just go and ask Dimitri for one?"
I sighed. "Because, Dimitri will kill me for even mentioning getting a job here. I understand if you can't give me the job as I can only work after school."
"It's fine, I am only looking for a casual secretary anyways because my current secretary's husband is in hospital, so she needs to take time off to look after him." I nodded, hope blooming in my mind. Miles looked down at my resume once more, glancing over the words. "Well, everything looks really good, you have a good result in school, and volunteering work, so I guess you are employed."
"Really? Thank you Miles! You won't regret it!" My smile is probably splitting my face up but who cares, I am too happy right now.
"I will email you the contract, look over it tonight, and sign it by tomorrow."
I nodded. "You are the best Miles. See you tomorrow!" I shook his head, and waved goodbye, before walking out.
I hummed as I walked to the elevator. Today has been a great day.
