I got to school just as I heard the bell ring. I panted loudly in exhaustion, and slowly climbed up the stairs that leads into the school. Stupid freaking Dimitri, leaving early in the morning and didn't bother to wake me up. Instead, he turned off my alarm clock. His reason? You looked so tired last night, I didn't want to wake you up. Word by word on his note. I know, I know. It's super cute. But getting a detention with a teacher is super not cute. He left for an early meeting at the office, which was apparently an emergency.

Yeah right emergency. It was probably his thirsty-as secretary looking for attention again. I mentally rolled my eyes. She needs someone to pour her a cup of water. Desperately.

I made it to class only six minutes late. Thank god. I slowly opened the door, and crept in when the teacher was not looking. I made eye contact with Andre, who secretly eyed the empty seat next to him. Aaliyah, who was sitting on the other side of the room, gave me a nod.

She sat up straight, cleared her throat, and began. "Oh Mr Stuart! I feel s-so faint!" She clutched at her head. I stood behind the cupboard, waiting for her signal.

"O-oh God!" She wailed, suddenly crumbling to the floor. Students gasped and stood up, Mr Stuart ran to her side, and squatted down to see if she was alright. The crowd of students surrounding them blocked his view of me. I walked as quiet as mouse towards the seat, sat down, and placed down all my books, pretending as I was here the whole time. I made eye contact with Aaliyah, and gave her a thumbs up.

"Actually sir, I feel so much better now, maybe I just need a sip of water." Aaliyah croaked out. Damn, she is a good actress.

"Of course of course, go ahead. If you keep feeling bad, just head straight to the nurse's office." Mr Stuart said. Aaliyah nodded quickly, and got up. She walked towards the door, clutching her head while discreetly mouthing to me 'You owe me one.' I nodded. I did, big time. Mr Stuart is my literature teacher and is the strictest about tardiness.

He stood up, and ushered everyone to their seats. "Ok class, we'll continue on with the study of Wuthering Heights. Everyone go to page 56, we'll pick up right where we-" Mr Stuart stopped mid-sentence. "Ms Reyes, when did you come into my class?" He frowned.

I looked at him innocently. "What do you mean sir? I have been here the whole time! See?" I lifted up my book to show him. "Been taking all the notes. Except the last one. Sorry I can't see sir. Can you please uh..." I leaned over to the side, hiding a smile. He shook his head and stepped to the side.

"Are you sure Ms Reyes? That incident with Ms Morgan feeling faint before didn't have any reasons to do with this, right?" He asked, obviously didn't believe me. But I am his favourite student, so it didn't matter.

"Of course not! I can assure you Aaliyah is definitely feeling unwell." I nodded, trying to look convincing.

"Well, if you don't mind Ms Reyes, please pick up reading from where we left off." Mr Stuart said smugly, thinking that I wouldn't know where to start. And he is right, I don't. I pretend to fumble with the book, glancing from the corner of my eye to where Andre is pointing at in the book.

I cleared my throat and started reading. "My love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath a source of little visible delight, but necessary." I spoke in an over dramatic voice. Mr Stuart rolled his eyes.

"Well done Ms Reyes, next time don't take too long to start reading." Aye aye sir. "Can someone else continue?" A girl sitting at the front shot her arm up. She began reading, and I sunk back into my seat, sighing in relief. Aaliyah walked back in, sitting in her seat quickly.

Classes flew by, and soon it was time to go home. During the day, I explained my situation to Aaliyah, who suggested that I should go look for a job. And what a wonderful suggestion it was. Getting a job means less time at home with Dimitri, and more work for me to focus on other things, so I can stop thinking about him. We quickly put together a rough CV, and I used Aaliyah's mum as my reference seeing as Dimitri would have never let me get a job.

I waved goodbye to Andre and Aaliyah, heading towards the direction of the busses. I could've gotten Andre to give me a ride, but he had practise this afternoon.

The bus dropped me off right in the middle of Cavill Avenue. I stepped out, my eyes searching for a place to work at. I spotted a small cafe on the corner, and headed towards it. A perfect spot for me to work at. The bells on top chimed as I opened the door, a gust of coffee and dessert smell hit me full sense.

The cafe was not very busy, with a few people dressed in business wear scattered around. I headed towards a female who was carrying some empty coffee mugs towards the back.

"Excuse me, can I please speak to the manager?" I asked, stopping her halfway.

"You're speaking to her, can I help you?" The lady looked to be in her mid-twenties. She had beady eyes,

"I wish to discuss with you about a part-time job here, if there are any spaces available." I said nervously. It's my first job, and I was really hoping she would accept me.

"Oh yes, please follow me to the back, let's discuss this somewhere more private." She made her way to the Staff Only door and placed the coffee mugs in the sink. Then I followed her to her office, where we both took a seat.

"Can I please see your resume please, Ms-" she trailed off.

"Uh Delilah Reyes." I handed her my CV. She froze in shock.

"Delilah Reyes, as in the daughter of David Reyes?" Her eyes went wide at the mention of my last name.

"Yes, he was my father." I cleared my throat.

"Your father was a big customer of ours, and if his daughter is looking for a job, we are honoured to give you one. You can start whenever you want, how much pay would you like to receive per hour?" The manager rambled. I read from her name tag, and it said Arianna Smith.

"Ms Smith, you don't have to give me a job because of my father-" I began, but was cut of by her.

"No no we do have an empty spot, a girl left last week due to pregnancy, so you can start whenever to fill in for her." She said.

"-And normal pay will be fine, it is my first job and I want to receive the same pay as others who are first starting, otherwise it is not fair." I reasoned.

"Of course, whatever you want Ms Reyes, welcome on board, it is a pleasure to have you on our team. Would you like to start now?" Ms Smith stood up in a flash.

I checked the time on my phone, and shrugged. It's not like I have anything better to do. "Sure."

"Come with me Ms Reyes, here is your locker, you can place your belongings here, this is your uniform, and the change rooms are over there. Come find me at the counter once you are done, and I'll teach you the basic about everything." Ms Smith pointed out everything to me, and ushered me into the change rooms. I changed out of my clothes, and put on the uniform, which consists of a knee length black skirt, a red long sleeved t-shirt with the cafe's logo on it, and a small apron. The top was too long and it covers the entire skirt if I leave it down, so I tied a knot in the side. I left my normal shoes on. I gave my reflection a scan and shrugged. Time to start the job.

I walked back out. Ms Smith showed me everything, from how to use a coffee machine to serving a customer. I followed her around for the first hour, and the next few hours I was left on my own to manage the front counter while my co-workers rushed around to serve the customers. I was really enjoying the job, the soft music playing overhead placed me in a really good mood. In the last ten minutes of my shift, a blonde lady came rushing in.

"Hi, what would you-" I started, but she cut me off.

"A long black, one sugar, make it now!" She snapped, going straight back to her rapid texting. I rolled my eyes. Who the heck shoved a stick up her arse today and how on earth can she text with her freakishly sharp and fake nails?

"I said NOW!" She glared at me. I bit back a snide remark, remembering Ms Smith's words on hospitality. The customers are always right. She said.

I glared at her blonde head, and went to make the coffee. I pressed the start button, but instead of making the coffee, the machine made a clogged up noise. I hit the button twice, and began worrying as the noise started to disturb the quiet cafe. A red light was flashing, and I began to repeatedly hit the stop button.

It's my first day and I am already messing up! "What's going on over there?" The blonde lady screeched. I winced, her pitchy voice hurting my brain. "I need this coffee now! Do you have any idea who my boss is? He is already in a bad mood, so just hurry the hell up!"

Ok ok! Shut up please! I screamed in my head. God won't this dammed machine just work! Many customers got up and peered around the counter, trying to figure out what's wrong. Suddenly, the machine made a loud clack, and the black coffee I was trying to make splattered all over me. But luckily, it only landed on my work clothes, otherwise I would have gotten second degree burn.

"What is happening out there?" Ms Smith screamed. Running out from the back room. At the same time, the bell chimed and a deep familiar voice growled, "What on earth do you think you are doing, Delilah Reyes?" I closed my eyes and prayed.

Oh god please don't let it be him, please don't let it be Dimitri.
