Chapter 8 (Picture of Desmond)
CHAPTER 8 // EDITED
"Every time they play this song, she say this is my shit," I sang as Lacey and I walked on to the school campus. I sped up and did a kick flip, I landed it.
"Show off," Praxton shot my way, I flipped my hair in response and stuck my tongue out at him.
"Skate down the school hallway," Justice dared me, I raised my eyebrows and a smirk rose on my face.
"Blake," Cody said cautiously, I took off towards the front of the school leaving the guys behind me. I sat the board down and whistled to get people's attention, they moved when they spotted me. "Blakely."
I took off down the hallway and a laugh escaped the back of my throat. I bent down running my fingertips across the rough texture of the floor. I stood back up slowing down my drift, I turned around to the team and put my arms up.
"I owe it to you Blake, you got balls," Justice said as he walked down the hallway, I flashed him a smile. It faltered when I saw Mason walk into the school. "Taylor."
"What'd I miss?" He asked, his eyes trailed over to me and he smiled as soon as his eyes met mine.
"Just Blake being a dumbass," Cody retorted making me smile. "So nothing much." My smile dropped and I flipped him off.
The day went on as normal except for the shared glances between me and Mason. Mostly, it would be him smiling at me and me rolling my eyes in response.
I decided against going to lunch and heading to the library instead. I was reading the back of a book when someone walked up beside me. The familiar scent of cologne slapped me in the face.
"So, what's your favorite food?" Mason asked, I didn't look up as I chuckled at his question.
"That's like asking me what's my favorite book," I chuckled, I glanced over at him looking down at the book in my hands. "If I did have to pick one food, it would be pizza." His eyes looked up locking with mine and he smiled.
"See you Friday night, Blake," he pushed himself up from the bookshelf he was leaning on and turned walking out of the library.

"You should wear a dress," Lacey said, I let out a loud laugh and she replied with a loud sneeze. "This sucks dick."
"Storm is bringing you her moms famous chicken noodle soup," I told her as I put my straightener down. "How do I look?" She broke out into a coughing fit and I shrugged. "Same here."
"I hate you," she retorted making me snort. I heard the doorbell echo throughout the house and I quickly looked in my body mirror checking out my white top and black bottoms.
"I'll tell you everything tomorrow," I told Lacey as I picked up my phone. "I love you and kick that colds butt." She spoke a string of Spanish before she hung up.
I put my phone in my back pocket and grabbed my wallet, I looked down at my heels and then headed over to my closet. I slipped off my heels and replaced them with converse.
I walked out of my room and headed downstairs. I got to the door and swung it open revealing Mason.
He was wearing a white button up shirt matched with black jeans, he had on black converse and a black leather jacket. I looked like a bad boy from a book.
"You ready?" He asked looking into my grey eyes. I nodded swiftly and stepped out closing the door behind me.
"So, where are we going?" I asked him as we walked towards his car. He walked past me to open my door before I could open it myself.
"You'll see," he said flashing me a smile, I wanted to just smile back, but instead I rolled my eyes. I got in the passenger seat and he closed the door, he walked around and climbed in.
We were riding down the road when my phone started buzzing in my lap. I smiled when my brothers name flashed across the screen.
"Blake's phone," I answered.
"Touché, Blakely," Riley said making me smirk.
"Should've gotten home quicker, Riles," I said earning a side glance from Mason. He started lecturing me and I rolled my eyes as I flailed my arms. "What was that, Mason? Sorry Riley, I have to go, Mason is trying to talk to me."
"Blake–"
"Love you, bye," I said quickly, I hung up and looked up to take in my surroundings. Mason was pulling into a restaurant and he whipped his car into a parking spot. He parked and looked over at me. "Don't look at me." He shook his head at me and climbed out, he walked over to my side and opened my door.
He held out his hand and I had to admit, I was impressed. I laid my hand in his and stepped out from the car, he shut the door and his hand went to my lower back.
We walked into the restaurant and my eyes widened when I saw how packed it was.
"Party of two," the waitress spoke making me look over to her. She walked us over to a booth and we slid into either side. "What will you have to drink?"
"Coke," Mason answered then looked over to me.
"Water with a lemon on the side," I answered next, she scribbled it down and walked away.
"So, Blakely," Mason said, I shot a look his way, but he only smiled. It was weird hearing someone other than my brothers or dad saying it. "Back story?"
"My mom was stuck on the name Kinsley, but dad wanted to name me Blake," I started, the waitress walked over sitting down our drinks. I flashed her a smile and she walked away. "Mom trusted dad to name me, but it wasn't the best idea. He named me Blake and then added -ly." He let out a small laugh and I smiled as I took a sip of my water.
"It's pretty," he complimented, I looked up from my water. "It's unique, like you."
I held back a smile as I looked down and mumbled a thank you in reply.
"You're kidding," Mason shot at me, I took another bite of my pizza and then shook my head.
"We hated each other at first, we had no reason to hate each other, we just did," I answered him, I swallowed my food and looked up at him. "Then one day we both ended up in detention. I broke a locker and Lacey was late, because she was doing make up."
"In sixth grade?"
"I said, she was doing makeup, I didn't say it was good," I replied making him smile. "It was quiet till a girl walked in and I couldn't stand this girl, then the teacher and the girl walked out. Lacey said, oh my shit, I can't stand her."
"Is this how all girls become friends?" He asked, I nodded with a chuckle. It fell again to silence and we continued eating.
I couldn't help, but start to feel fidgety from sitting still so long. Mason was scrolling though his phone and I raised an eyebrow.
You really want to be on your phone? I ignored it and went to my phone, I looked throughout my apps and clicked on the Instagram icon. I clicked on the camera and scrolled through my pictures. I picked one and added a caption, then I posted it.
"Are you ready to head out?" Mason asked snapping me from my thoughts. I looked up at him and gave him a nod.
"I'm going to go to the washroom and I'll meet you out at the car," I told him, I opened my wallet and pulled out a ten dollar bill. "Here's the tip." I laid it on the table before he could protest.
I turned and walked towards the washrooms, I opened the door and went to a bathroom stall.
I finished up in the washroom and headed outside when I didn't see Mason. He was leaning against the passengers seat door looking up at the moon. I guess he heard my footsteps approaching, because his focus turned to me.
"You all good?" He asked flashing me yet another one of those damn smiles. He opened my door for me and I slipped past him and then into the car seat.
I was laying back in my seat fiddling with my phone. I felt Mason pull in somewhere then him take a sharp turn parking.
I sat up in my seat and looked at the place ahead of us. It was Wheel's, it was a place I went to a lot as a kid.
"What are we doing here?" I asked Mason as he unhooked his seatbelt.
"We're going to have fun," he said and got out from his seat. I looked in the backseat and grabbed the t-shirt from the backseat. I took off my strapless top and then slipped on the t-shirt.
When I was starting to put my phone in my back pocket, I noticed Mason's was in the cup holder. I bit my lip and then sat my phone next to Mason's. I stepped out of the car and saw Mason leaning against the car.
"I helped myself," I spoke up making him look over at me, his eyes then moved to the shirt.
"It's cool," he replied with a chuckle, we walked towards the building and I heard the go-karts.
"Want to get get your ego hurt? Race me," I said with a sly smirk.
"You're on," he shot back at me with the same sly smirk.
We got our tickets to the go-karts and walked up to the gate, the go karts of different colors were lined up against the side.
"Purple is mine," I told Mason, he sucked his teeth and looked down at me.
"Fine, I'll take the green," he said, the gate opened and we walked through. We got into our chosen karts and pulled the seatbelt on.
Mason glanced back at me and I narrowed my eyes to show my determination. He turned back forward and the guy cranked up our karts, he stepped to the side and let us go.
We went around for seven laps, taking turns passing each other and flipping each other off. Time we finally ended and Mason passed me at the last minute.
"Yes!" He whooped as I groaned. "I won."
"Oh, shut up, I hit a bump," I shot at him, we climbed out of the karts and headed down to the building. "Ooh, they have an arcade." I raced to the counter before Mason could spend anymore money on me.
"Blake," Mason called after me, but I ignored him and laid a fifty on the counter. The cashier grabbed it and opened the drawer as Mason walked up. "I can't stand you."
I smiled when the cashier laid the card on the counter, I grabbed it and set off towards the games. There was a variety of games all over the arcade and kids were running around playing the different games.
I had played almost every game in the arcade and Mason was holding my tickets. I was currently sitting on a black stool playing deal or no deal. I was stuck on which case to choose next.
My hip was suddenly accompanied by a hand and I felt Mason's body come against mine.
"You should pick nineteen," Mason spoke making his cold breath tickle my ear. "That's my lucky number." I reached over and pressed the number nineteen, it came up five dollars. I clapped cheerfully when two hundred tickets came pouring out. "Winner, winner."
"Oh, shut up," I said giving his shoulder a shove. I hopped down from my seat while Mason gathered my tickets. I helped carry them over to the ticket counter and we put them in.
"So, what are you going to get?" Mason asked me while I scouted through my options. "There goes something cute for your room." I saw what he was pointing to, it was a giant teddy bear.
"That's ten thousand tickets," the man said, I started to look at other options and I picked out my prizes. "Is that all?"
"Yes," I answered, he gave me my bag of treats and I grabbed then from the counter. I turned towards Mason and we walked out from the arcade, I yawned as we approached his car.
"Tired?" Mason asked while he opened my door for me.
"Just a little," I replied and climbed in, mason shut the door and walked around to his side. I laid back in my seat and my eyes drooped as I yawned once again. "I'm just going to rest my eyes."
"I'll tell you when I get you home," he said, I nodded and closed my eyes.the ride was smooth and the only noise was the music leaking throughout the speakers.
My body was suddenly being shook and I sat up from my seat to see my house. I looked over at Mason looking down at me.
"I didn't want to wake you, but I didn't think you'd want me carrying you in," he said, I shook my head and outstretched my arms.
"I had fun tonight," I said as I unbuckled my seatbelt. I opened my door and started to get out, I looked over at Mason and grabbed my phone. "Good night."
I waited till Mason left until I headed upstairs to my room. I immediately stripped from my clothes and then noticed I was still wearing Masons shirt. I got dressed in my pajamas and then grabbed my phone.
Sorry, I forgot to give you your shirt back. -Me
I tossed my phone on my bed and walked over to my door, I closed it and turned out my light. My phone buzzed when I reached my bed.
It's fine, it looks better on you anyway. -Mason
I bit back the smile tugging at my lips and clicked my home button, I went to the Instagram icon and then to my page. I clicked my recent post and deleted it.
