Chapter 5 (Picture of Lacey)

CHAPTER 5 // EDITED

"Icy, stay still," I heard Zach say as I pulled back my curtain. I saw he was struggling to get Icy in his jersey.

"Icy, sit," I commanded as I tied my pants, he obeyed and sat. I took the jersey from Zach and put it on him. "There."

"Show off," Zach shot at me and I smiled proudly. I was tying up my hair as coach walked into the locker room.

"Ok ladies, listen up," he announced quieting the team down. "Go out there and don't screw up."

"You're pre-game speeches are so motivational," Reese said making coach shoot him daggers. I chuckled and grabbed my helmet.

"Ok team, let's go!" I yelled, the guys yelled as we ran out of the locker room. I heard the cheerleaders chanting as we jogged out onto the field. "Come on, drills."

The guys formed a platoon and we began our pre-game drills. I walked to the middle of them and they huddled around me.

"Who are we?!" I yelled.

"Eastside!" The team yelled in response.

"What did we come to do tonight?!" I yelled again.

"We came to win!"

"We came to what?" I yelled and we looked at the opposing team.

"We're gonna Eastside dominate!" We yelled as we hit our chest.

The referee blew his whistle telling us that the game was starting. Coach picked the ones starting and pushed us on to the field.

I dug my cleats into the grass and saw Reese walk up behind me. I bent down and gripped my hand around the ball, I looked up and narrowed my eyes. I felt Reese reached under me and tapped my leg telling me he was ready.

"Blue, blink 182, set, hike!" Reese yelled and I flicked the ball to Reese. The unique thing about our team was we had our own secret language.

I tackled the guy coming at Reese and Reese threw the ball across the field. I looked and saw Justice successfully catching it. He was breaking ankles as he dodged the opposing team. He jogged into the end zone and I jumped up cheering.

Coach switched out some players and I was walking off the field when someone tripped me. I regained my balance and walked to the sidelines.

The opposing team quarterback called out their play and caught the ball. He threw it down the field, but their player missed it. Cody stuck out his foot making the guy who tripped me landed on his face.

Cody gave me a high five as he walked up to the sidelines and I smiled. I knew the team had my back, even though they were excited when I first joined.

The buzzer sounded off signaling the game was over and we cheered knowing we won.

We dropped the twins and Lacey off at home, Reese usually joins but he rode with Lindsey. Mentally gags.

We finally reached our house and we walked inside and into the kitchen. Louis was wiping down the counter.

"There is lasagna in the oven," he said not looking up. "Eat before you head upstairs."

Louis reminded me of Bertram from Jessie, he loved to cook, but hated to work. Louis was black, he told us to never call him African American unless you want to get smacked.

If you wanted straight advice, you went to him. He came from a poor family, but he doesn't like to talk about his past. He says to only worry about your future. You couldn't help but love him.

We got our helpings of lasagna and dug in. As always, it was delicious. We put our dishes in the sink and Louis groaned.

"I have to wash those?" He groaned making us laugh.

***

I was mid-curl when a knock came across my door.

"Blake, are you almost done?" Riley's voice came out muffled from the door.

"Yeah, I just had to finish my hair," I called back, I heard his footsteps head down the hallway and then downstairs. I bounced my curls and spread lipgloss on my lips.

I checked my outfit out in my body mirror and smiled slightly. I looked like a younger version of her in her dress.

I grabbed on heels and snatched m my phone from my bed. I tucked it in my waistband and headed downstairs.

Storm was straightening up Riley's tie and then smoothing out her own skirt.

Storm was Riley's girlfriend for three years now and we're completely adorable together. Riley kept calling her Storm, because of her dark blue eyes so it kinda stuck.

Her outfit was absolutely gorgeous and her dark auburn hair was naturally wavy.

I walked into the living room and Kate was fixing dads tie. Miley and Desmond were sitting on the couch waiting.

Miley was my age, but she looked older than she actually was. Her eyes were a brown and her hair was a light brown. She also had a septum nose which was pretty cute.

Desmond was a year younger than us, but he was tall for his age. His hair was a light brown and his eyes were hazel mixed with green.

"Blake," Cody called walking up beside me. "Help me with my tie."

"You guys are helpless," I said, he stuck his tongue out at me and I stuck mine out back. I tied his tie around his neck and dad looked over at me.

"You look like your mother," he commented and I smiled slightly.

"Yeah, I was going for that," I replied and looked back at Cody. "Are we ready?"

"Yeah," Riley replied and we turned towards him. "Let's get going, we don't want to be late."

We all headed out to the black limousine that waited for us, we gathered in and got seated. Miley and I stayed as far away from each other as we could, we don't get along that well.

We got to the building that was holding the dinner and piled out of the limo. Storm grabbed Riley's hand and Kate grabbed dads elbow.

We headed to the entrance and walked in, people were gathered around talking and mingling. My phone was suddenly pulled from my waist and I looked up at Riley scowling me. I took it from him and gave him a look.

We got seated at a table when a man started speaking into a microphone.

"Thank you ladies and gentlemen that have joined us here tonight," he said and clapping eroded around the room. "I'm going to hand the microphone over to Agent Hensley." Clapping surrounding me again as my dad stood up heading up front.

My dad had been a FBI agent for quite some years now and was one of the highest agents. The FBI was actually how mom and dad met, they hated each other, but eventually they fell in love.

"Thank you, thank you," dad spoke quieting down the clapping. I remember when mom told me that moment she knew she had fell.

"He was giving a speech," she said. "I couldn't hear the words coming from his lips, I was staring at him. He looked at me with those dark blue eyes and I knew. I wasn't falling, I had already fell."

Clapping snapped me from my daydream and I saw dad had finished his speech.

"Are you going to eat that?" I asked Riley pointing to his roll. He rolled his eyes and pushed his plate my way, I reached over grabbing it.

"Blake," dad scowled me and I sat back down in my chair. Conversations went around the table and I grabbed my phone.

How's the dinner going? -Wife 💎

It's going well -Me

I laid my phone down and went back to my roll, my phone lit up showing Lacey's contact requesting a voice FaceTime. I grabbed it and pressed the green button.

"What's up?" I answered.

"Blake, I need to talk to you," she said, she sounded like she was crying. Attention moved towards me, but I ignored their looks.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" I asked.

"Max and I got into an argument and we broke up," she answered and she sobbed.

"Blake, take that outside," dad said sternly and I stood up excusing myself. I walked outside and glanced behind me, I smiled.

"I really thought you were crying," I said.

"Why do you think I have no tickets?" She asked and I chuckled as I shook my head.

"I better head back before Riley sends an army," I said making her chuckle. "Bye babe." She made a kissing sound and hung up the phone. I walked back inside and someone was sitting in my seat. "I think someone's been sitting in my chair."

"Blake," dad said in a warning tone. "This is my new partner, Agent Taylor." I looked at the woman standing by dads chair. Her long black hair was straight matched with mocha brown eyes.

"This is her son," Storm spoke up gesturing to the person sitting in my seat. I looked down at the boy and I took in his features, they weren't a stranger to me. He was the boy that saved me that morning from getting hit. "Mason." Mason.

Then my eyes trailed down to his neck where there was a scar. The same place I saw the scar of the mysterious boy in the hallway.

"I'm going to go get food," I said and walked away before they could protest. I grabbed a cup and poured some punch.

"You couldn't have been more obvious," a deep voice spoke as they moved beside me.

"I don't know if I should talk to you," I said and looked up at him. "You might disappear again."

"I was the new kid," he started. "The last thing I wanted was attention." I shook my head and looked away from him.

"Well, thank you," I said quietly feeling my heartbeat speed up. "For Reagan and the parking lot." I turned and walked away.

I got back to the table and I tripped spilling my drink.

"Oops," Miley said, I turned her way and narrowed my eyes into slits.

"If I hit you, would it be considered animal abuse?" I asked, Cody choked on his drink and Desmond coughed covering his laugh.

"Blake," Riley scowled, I sat back down in my seat and Cody gave me a low high five.

"Katelyn," I heard my dads voice and I looked up. "I met you three years ago through my job. The second I laid my eyes on you, I knew I wanted to call you mine." He got down on one knee and my heart dropped to my ass. "Will you marry me, Katelyn Matthews?" Her hands went over her mouth as her eyes watered.

Us kids exchanged shocked looks and heard the dreaded answer.

"Yes," Kate answered, dad stood up and hugged her as everyone clapped.

"Congrats on the new baby," someone said, I turned around to an elderly woman.

"Baby?" I questioned.

"Yeah, she's pregnant," she replied and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. She walked away and I turned back around, they all looked up at me with the same look as mine. We all then looked at Kate's belly.

Please just be a food baby.
