Chapter 14

CHAPTER 14 // EDITED

I woke up earlier that Monday morning to actually think out what my outfit was going to be. I went through all my clothes tossing out all the ones I use to wear.

I dug out the clothes that were bought for me, but I never had worn. I picked out my outfit of choice and tossed them on my bed. I took my hair down from my bun and grabbed my brush brushing through the knots.

I checked to make sure my curler was heated up and started wrapping pieces of my hair around it.

After burning almost every single one of my fingers, my ends were curled making me move my head watching them bounce. I pulled out my makeup box and then fished out all the makeup products that hadn't even been used.

I watched Lacey long enough to know how to make a wing sharp enough to cut and where everything was suppose to go.

I finished up brushing mascara on my eyelashes making them longer and making my bright blue eyes pop out more. I grabbed my phone clicking it on checking the time, I laid it back down and walked over to wear my outfit lay.

I slipped on a white bralette and then slipped on a sleeveless sweater. I shimmied into white skinny jeans and topped it off with Timberlands.

I clipped my curls back and tucked my phone in my back pocket. I grabbed my book bag from the corner and my keys from my bedside table.

I walked out from my room and headed down the stairs, I snatched an apple from the bowl and my leather jacket from the hook. I walked out the door and towards my car.

I pulled in on campus searching the student parking lot for my untouched parking spot. I finally found it and parked between the vehicles on either side of me.

I slipped my jacket on and grabbed my book bag from the passenger seat. I slung my book bag across my shoulder and headed towards the school. I stuck my arm through the other strap and turned back pressing the lock button on my keys making my car chirp.

Attention was turned on me once I reached the front of the school, I just ignored them as I walked up the stairs. I could feel eyes burning a hole in my back as I walked down the hallway towards my locker, but I kept my head up not acknowledging them.

I didn't slow down until I reached my locker and grabbed my lock, I started putting in my combination when I heard footsteps approaching me.

"Damn, Blake," I heard Justice say with a low whistle making me look over at him. "I thought you were some new girl." Cody pushed past him looking me up and down.

"What the hell?" He said, his eyes finally met mine again and I looked at him blankly.

"Is there a problem with my outfit?" I asked.

"I didn't even know you owned white pants," Logan spoke up next, I rolled my eyes and turned back towards my locker.

"Are you wearing lip gloss?" Praxton asked rubbing his finger across my bottom lip. I pushed his hand away from my face and looked at him crazy.

"I know that ain't my best friend," I heard Lacey's voice walk up behind me, I turned around to look at her as she slapped my butt. "My girl got cake."

"Do you think a cheer skirt would fit with this cake?" I asked making her stop, a smile formed at her lips and clapped her hands together.

"You can't be a cheerleader and still be on the football team," Justice said with a chuckle, I looked over at the guys.

"Oh yeah, I quit the team," I said, jaws dropped and mouths gaped like a fish out of water. "Excuse me, I have to get to class." I hooked my arm through Lacey's and then looked back blowing them a kiss with a wink.

*

The students who had third lunch had already left to go to lunch, but I wasn't interested in sitting with the guys just to get stared at.

I was strolling down the empty hallway when my phone buzzed in my pocket, I pulled it out and saw VA's contact flash across my screen. I answered it and put it up to my ear.

"You do realize I'm in school, right?" I answered.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," she said lazily. "Do you have a pair of heels I could borrow?"

"Yeah, just go to my house and look in my closet," I replied.

"I already got them, I just thought it'd be polite to ask first," she said.

"Then why did you take them and then call me?"

"It doesn't matter what order I went in, it matters that I asked," she defended herself, I started to say something else, but my waist was suddenly grabbed.

"Hey," I snapped, I was lifted and thrown over their shoulder making me drop my phone. "Put me down." They bent down to hopefully pick up my phone.

"Blake will call you back," Zach's voice sounded, he turned and started walking down the hall.

"Zachary, put me down this instant," I demanded punching his back, he didn't flinch as he continued his journey. He finally set me down and I caught my balance before I shoved him hard. "What's wrong with you?"

"What's wrong with you?" A voice came from behind me, I looked at Zach weird and turned around to the guys.

"I didn't come to the lunch room for a reason," I shot at them, I pushed past them and walked over to where my locker was.

"This isn't you, Blake," Logan said, I ignored him as I put in my locker combination. "Not once have you ever did your hair for school or cared enough to do your makeup." I didn't say anything as I slipped off my jacket shoving it in my locker.

My arm was suddenly jerked making my body turn towards Cody. "Is that a fucking tattoo?"

"Yeah, cute isn't it?" I glanced over at the tattoo on my shoulder.

"Coach is going to kill you, Blake," Zach snapped at me, I laughed shaking my head.

"He can't say anything to me, I'm not on his team anymore," I said with a lazy shrug.

"The only uniform you're wearing Friday night is a football jersey," Praxton said in a sharp tone, I shook my head and walked over to the trash can. I dragged it behind me to my locker.

"I'm being what my mom wanted me to be in the first place," I shot at them, I grabbed my skateboard and tossed it in the trash. "All I ever did was disappoint her, so for once I'm going to make her proud of me." I started ripping off the pictures that were taped on my locker door. The pictures with the guys or anything related to football.

I tossed them in the trash and turned back to my locker.

"Mom always told me I was never going to get boyfriend acting like a boy," I said, I reached back in my locker and pulled out my football.

"Blake, that was the ball you made your first touchdown with," Justice said, I wrapped my fingers around the laces and then tossed it in the trash next. "So what? We don't mean anything to you anymore?"

"I'm Blake, because my dad wouldn't listen to my mom," I said turning back to the guys. "You can accept me or join Reese." I pushed past them and started down the hall.

"Mom wouldn't be proud of you, she'd be disappointed you'd be so pathetic to change who you are," Cody shot my way, making me stop in my tracks. "For what? To end up with a guy that only wants a piece of ass?" I bit my tongue and continued down the hallway.

***

"Are you serious?" Lacey asked looking over at me. "Your skateboard, football, everything?"

"It's like a fresh start," I said sipping at my drink, but she didn't look convinced. "They say if you don't like something, you change it. That's what I'm doing."

"She's right," VA spoke up. "I didn't like how small my boyfriend was so I slept with his best friend and his sister."

"I hope to have your level of confidence one day," Lacey said, VA smiled at her and sipped at her smoothie.

"What do I look like to you, Virginia? Your beck and call?" A guy's voice suddenly sounded making Lacey and I turn to look.

"Nope, but goods deed always get rewarded, Grant," VA said sitting up in her seat smiling at him.

"Yeah, yeah, what am I suppose to be doing?" He asked pulling up a chair and swiping VA's drink.

"Hey, swiper no swiping," VA said, but he ignored her as he gulped down the smoothie. "You'll be our judge."

"For?" He pushed farther, VA swiped her smoothie back and shot him a look.

"Too many questions," she replied, she stood up from her chair and started walking away. Lacey and I glanced at each other and followed VA's action, Grant trailed right behind us.

Once we caught up to VA, she was searching through clothes in Forever 21. VA managed to fill my arms with a variety of clothes while carrying her pick of clothes as well.

"Blake, hurry up," VA's impatient voice sounded outside the dressing room door. I tugged at the lace top once more before I open the door and stepped out. "Oh my gosh." She clapped her hands together and let out a squeal.

Grant, who was concentrating on his phone, looked up and a smirk took over his lips when he saw me. "I'd rather be rewarded by her," I was about to make a smart remark, but then I remembered, this is the new Blake. I smiled slightly and looked down.

"In your dreams," VA intervened, she pushed me back into the dressing room and I rolled my eyes. My phone suddenly ding from the chair sitting in the corner, I walked over and picked it up.

"Hello?" I answered, I held the phone between my ear and shoulder as I struggled to get the top off.

"You're coming home tonight, right?" Riley's voice filled my ear.

"I was planning on it," I replied. "What's going on?"

"Kate and her two are joining us for dinner tonight," he answered, I opened my mouth to let out an insult, but I stopped myself.

"What time should I be there?" I asked tossing the top to the side.

"No later than seven," he said. "Blake, behave tonight." I nodded, but then remembered he couldn't see me.

"I will," I replied. "Bye, Riles." I hung up and let out a deep breath. I pulled my shirt my on and looked over in the body mirror. I put a smile on my face and walked out from the dressing room.

*

"Bye, Blake," VA and Lacey called once I grabbed all my bags from the trunk.

"Bye, girls," I called back with a small wave, I walked up the driveway as VA pulled out. I moved my bags so that I could reach the doorknob to open the front door.

I stepped inside closing the door behind me, I blew my hair from my fave and shifted my bags once more.

"Blake, is that you?" I heard Louis call from the kitchen.

"Yeah, I just have to drop off some stuff in my room and I'll be right down," I called back, I lugged my body up the stairs and booty bumped my door open. I dropped the various shopping bags on my floor and walked to my mirror.

I freshened up a bit before I headed back down the stairs, I walked through the living room where Miley and Desmond were seated. I felt their eyes follow me all the way to the kitchen.

"What's for dinner?" I asked heading over to the refrigerator.

"Steak with salads," Louis answered, I fished out a water from the bottom drawer and closed the refrigerator back. "Blake." I turned from the refrigerator to look over at Louis, who was looking at me with shock.

"Is something wrong?"

"No, ma'am, I've never seen you wear a skirt willingly before," he responded, I glanced down at my outfit, which consisted of a white top and a floral skirt.

"There's nothing wrong with it, right?" I asked, he only chuckled with a shake of his head.

"You look beautiful as always, madam," he replied, I gave him a small smile and walked away.

"Where is my father and Kate?"

"Your father is right here," I heard dads voice walking in to the kitchen, I turned over to see him dressed up. He walked over kissing my head, but not forgetting to ruffle my hair.

I laughed swatting his hand away and my eyes fell on Riley, who was examining my outfit with raised eyebrows.

"Riley, where's Cody?" Dad spoke knocking him from his trance.

"He said that he'd be here," Riley replied, he glanced back over at me, but I looked away.

It wasn't long before Louis finished up his last dish and was ready for it to be served. I started by making myself a salad and finished off by sprinkling on croutons.

"Blake, you don't want a steak?" Dad asked making me look up.

"I'm not really in a steak mood," I answered, I took a bite of my salad and chewed in silence. The front door suddenly opened making dad look up to see who it was.

"Cody, you're late," dad said, Cody pulled out his seat next to me sitting down.

"I lost track of time, I'm sorry," he replied, I looked over at him, but he acted as if I wasn't there.

"How'd your ultrasound go today, Kate?" I spoke up, she looked up at me with confusion, but then smiled.

"The baby is completely healthy," she answered glancing over at dad.

"Blake, are you okay?" Riley finally spoke up, I gripped my fork, but looked up with a smile.

"Fine and dandy, why do you ask?" I asked.

"You seem...different," he replied with an awkward laugh. "I've never seen you wear a skirt without being made to, I don't think you've ever chose a salad over a steak, and you went shopping today."

"She also quit the football team," Cody spoke up eating a piece of steak. "Apparently, she's tired of being a boy and wants to be what mom always wanted her to be." He looked over at me, betrayal was present in his blue eyes. "A girl."

"Wait, you quit the football team?" Riley asked with complete shock in his voice.

"She threw away her skateboard along with almost everything in her locker," he added, he took another bite of steak. "Oh, and she also got a tattoo."

"You got a what?" Dads voice boomed throughout the kitchen, I shot a look Cody's way.

"Are you happy now?" I shot at him, I pushed myself up from the table and scoffed. "You can be upset all you want, but this is who I'm going to be. So, deal with it or don't be my brother."

"Like I said, you're pathetic, Blakely," he shot back, he looked back at me. "I'm not your brother, because you're not Blake."

I clenched my jaw till I felt as if my teeth were about to shatter, I turned on my heel and stormed out from the kitchen.
