Just a reminder, this glossary was made as part of my notes to guide me for this story, possible prequels and sequels in the future. This notes have certain inconsistencies as some parts are unedited from the first draft and second drafts. 

My first draft was completed in the 90's written in green ink on an intermediate pad paper.  The second draft was finished sometime around 2012. However, my USB got accidentally erased and with no back up file, I got disheartened forcing me to discontinued my editing. It was only during the COVID-19 pandemic when I decided to resume my writing as encouraged by friends and coworkers who have heard my story ideas. 

In the future, I'll be editing this and might possibly delete it once the sequel, prequels and spin off are completed. 

Crystal Princess Glossary

Kingdom of Fliska

The kingdom of Fliska is the only kingdom that exists on the planet of the same name. The said kingdom is traditionally ruled by a Queen and the crown is passed to her daughter or nearest female relative for it is in their early history that men enthroned brought only war, chaos and devastation. The Queen holds a magical gem called the crystal cross which aids her in ruling the kingdom and bringing order to it. Upon being enthroned, the Queen receives the honorific crystal majesty. The Queen as well as her daughters introduces herself formally stating their name and title and then mentioning the name of her mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

An example would be Elzilaura's introduction. "I am Elzilaura of Fliska, daughter of Azestina, granddaughter of Mynemora and descendant of Maurelin."

By tradition, the Queen's heiress undergoes an important test called the trial of light. It is where the princess undergoes physical, emotional, intellectual and magical challenges in order for her to fully harness the power of the magical gem safely. The process is technically known as linking. Without this linking, the power of the gem can overwhelm the bearer and could lead to her death. After passing the trial of light, the rightful heiress gains the title crystal princess.

In Fliskan history, Queens commonly use the adoptive system to protect their relatives or make legal the claim of their heiress. For example, if the Queen has no daughters or nieces, she may choose a princess from Craiine as her successor and adopt her to legalize the claim.

The best known example in Fliskan History is Queen Azestina's adoption of her niece, Princess Kanunia so the former can become the legal guardian and that the latter be given protection and priviledges as a princess.

Dukedom of Craiine

The Dukedom of Craiine is situated in Fliska's lone moon, Craiine. It is ruled by the Duke who is the keeper of the Sapphire Sphere. Since it is a gift of reconciliation and trust from the Queen of Fliska, it is a tradition in Craiine to gift sapphires to symbolize trust or to make peace with one's adversary. The Duke of Craiine is the second most powerful nobleman in Fliska next to the Queen. In Fliskan tradition, the royal family of Craiine is an extension of the Fliskan royal family. If the Queen has no heiress, the daughters of the Duke shall be considered to succeed the Fliskan monarch.

Since the Duke of Craiine was once a descedant from a Fliskan Prince, members of the Craiinian royal family are entitled prince or princess but only the reigning Duke and his Duchess can affix the title before their name.

For example, Zedon is the eldest son of Ocvon. He and his siblings are prince and princesses but are never referred to as such. They are only mere titles after their names. As heir, Zedon is formally known as Lord Zedon, Prince of Craiine. After becoming Duke, he becomes Prince Zedon, Duke of Craiine. He and his wife then are honored as your gracious highness.

The Duke is the overlord of Craiine with seven vassals representing the seven regions of Craiine swearing fealty to him.

The royal family of Craiine is known for strict rules and traditions. One of these traditions is to honor the mother or the Duchess by patterning the name of the children to the duchess name. Another tradition is for the heir to marry someone within the nobility of Craiine.

Elzilaura, Princess of Fliska

The Crystal Princess

Elzilaura is the Princess of the Fliskan Kingdom. She is the only daughter of Queen Azestina and her consort, Prince Lischem. Her full name is Elzilaura Coremelle Maurelin Ruleinna and is referred to informally by her family and friends as Elle or Ella. Her mother calls her lovingly as lianka or my beloved little one. Lord Lischem died in an accident before Elzilaura was born so it was Prince Galabrus, her maternal uncle that became her father figure.

She is first in line of succession to the Fliskan throne followed by her adoptive sister, Kanunia, who is in truth the daughter of Princess Azrianne, the Queen's younger sister.

Zyric, Lord Marshal of Fliskan Defenses

Prince of Craiine

Zyric is the second son of Prince Ocvon, Duke of Craiine and his consort, Princess Lematya, Duchess of Craiine. His full name is Zyric Hendaris Ocvon Alairo. He was sent to the Minthrian Military Academy together with his elder brother Zedon, heir to the dukedom of Craiine. He was then recruited into the Techton-Galacore Squadron or the Elitea serving as second in command. After retiring from the Elitea, he returned to Fliska and was appointed by the Queen as Masrhal of the Fliskan Defenses. He resigned from his post when the Duchess of Craiine fell ill. She died not long after.

Kanunia, Princess of Fliska

Kanunia's full name is Kanunia Thelvene Mynemora. She is in truth the daughter of Princess Azrianne, Queen Azestina's younger sister who was infamous for abandoning her duty and running off with a rebel leader. She died shortly after giving birth to her daughter and named her sister, the Queen, as legal guardian. Queen Azestina adopts the child allowing her to be part of the act of succession even though she has already lost such rights when her mother abandoned her duty.

Lyna-Kyre, Lady of Fliska

Lady Lyna-Kyre is the eldest daughter of Princess Kyre, the youngest sister of Queen Azestina. She is said to be the most beautiful of the royal grandchildren of Queen Mynemora. Her father was Lymbruse, ambassador from planet Coferia, so she and her younger sister, Dazifae, were first educated in Coferia and continuing their studies in Fliska.

Being an accomplished diplomat, she was sent by her Aunt, the Queen Azestina, to different planets. In her assignment on planet Seravdi, she met her husband Lvear and they resided in Gaulan Carandessa. Lvear died defending Carandessa but the widowed Fliskan continued her work until the arrival of her cousin, Elzilaura and aided the princess in regaining back their kingdom.

Dazifae, Lady of Fliska

Lady Dazifae is the younger daughter of Princess Kyre and sister of Lady Lyna-Kyre. Like her sister, Dazifae was first educated in planet Coferia and continued their studies in Fliska. When her elder sister became a diplomat, Queen Azestina took her in as a ward. The Queen has also expressed her wishes that Dazifae become lady-in-waiting to her daughter, the Princess Elzilaura, after the latter becomes officially the Crystal Princess. She was once engaged to a Fliskan nobleman who died during the siege of the Fliskan kingdom.

Alednos, Lord of Vanaris

Alednos is the second born son of Lord Ormonth, Duke of Vanaris and his wife, Lady Rolunne, Duchess of Vanaris. His elder brother died shortly after Alednos was born due to blood diseases making him the new heir apparent. Alednos and his younger brother received military training in Fliska but the former also studied diplomacy. 

Lord Ormonth himself was once an adviser to Queen Azestina. Just before seeking retirement, he passed away and Alednos was appointed by the Queen to replace his father.

Ocvon, Duke of Craiine

Ocvon's full name is Ocvon Dofere Asevo Lischem. He is the Duke of Craiine and husband to Lematya. He is the eldest son of Prince Hendaris and his wife, Princess Olvina. Ocvon has a younger sister, Lady Olvinia, Princess of Craiine. The Duke of Craiine is the second most powerful noble in Fliska next to the Queen and her family due to their shared ancestry.

He is the first Duke to break from tradition by marrying a Fliskan mainland commoner, Dr. Zenvien Morica. After meeting her during her projects, the Lord Ocvon fell in love with the Fliskan scientist. When the Duke learned of this, he ended the project of Dr. Morica and sent her away. Ocvon threatened to relinquish his duties in favor of his sister. The Duke then agreed to a truce with his son. A family friend, the Lady Leonina, agreed to adopt Dr. Zenvien Morica who assumes the name of her late daughter, Lematya Aurelle.

Ocvon and Lematya had three children named Zedon, Zyric and Zora.

Zedon, Duke of Craiine

Zedon's full name is Zedon Metleolo Lemathis Dofere. He is the eldest son of the Duke Ocvon and his wife, Duchess Lematya. He was sent to Minthrian Military Academy together with his brother Zyric but was recalled early so he can receive his formal training as heir to the dukedom. The sons of the Duke are both good looking but Zedon was more handsome. That is why most ladies flock to him and he too was quite the lady's man. To correct this image, Duke Ocvon sent his son on goodwill missions where he met Soradina, a tribal slave girl from a primitive planet, who eventually becomes his love interest.

Though Duke Ocvon initially was opposed to their union, it was Duchess Lematya who persuaded the Duke to reconsider. She states that she too was not noble born and yet accepted into the nobility. With the Duke's blessing and the Queen's approval, Zedon marries Soradina. He inherits the Dukedom when the ailing Ocvon asks Princess Elzilaura to accept his abdication in favor of his son. The Crystal Princess accepts and crowns Zedon as the new Duke of Craiine.

Azestina, Queen of Fliska

Queen Azestina is the Queen of Fliska. She is the eldest daughter of Queen Mynemora and her first husband Ethomer. Her husband died of a congenital disorder shortly after giving birth to their second child, Azrianne. As heiress, she was initially engaged to the Baron of Methelsca, second region of Craiine. When he died, the engagement was transferred to his cousin, Lord Lischem of Meravel, and was betroth after she passed the trial of light.

When Queen Mynemora fell ill, Azestina took over as regent until the later passed away. After a year, she was crowned as the new Queen of Fliska. Just after taking the throne, her stepfather, Prince Danaviel, and her sister, the former Princess Azrianne, died. Her husband who was a known rebel leader relinquished guardianship of their daughter, Kanunia, so that she could have a better life.

Since Azrianne has left her duties, she was stripped of all her titles and inheritance. To restore them in favor of her daughter, the Queen adopts the baby. This is also to make her legal guardian of her niece.

A few years later, the Queen announces her pregnancy only to be widowed a few months after. The prince-consort was traveling to his island continent Meravel when his aircraft malfunctioned and crash landed in the Savaleer Sea. His body was recovered days after and was buried in his family mausoleum in Meravel.

The Queen then gives birth to her only biological daughter, Princess Elzilaura. When the princess reached young adulthood, the Flisco-Galmaran war broke out wherein Prince Galabrus, Queen Azestina's younger brother perished. As part of their peace treaty, the Princess Elzilaura was engaged to Prince Jarin of Galmar. Their betrothal was to be done after the princess passed the trial of light. On the eve of the trials, Fliska was under attack and Queen Azestina was assassinated.

People always remembered her as the strong but compassionate monarch who had a better reign than her mother and is well revered like her grandmother, the great Queen Maurelin.

Mynemora, Queen of Fliska

Queen Mynemora is the mother of Queen Azestina. She was the eldest daughter of Queen Maurelin who was considered to be one of the greatest Queens in Fliskan history. After passing the trial of light, Mynemora was bethrode to Lord Ethomer of Handarhann. She bore him two daughters, Azestina and Azrianne. Just after the latter was born, he died of complications from his congenital disorder. Not long after, Queen Maurelin also passes away.

Mynemora asks for a longer time period to delay her coronation and hold of office to cope and mourn the loss of her husband and mother. After being crowned queen, there were unrests created by rebels and anti-monarchists. The palace was almost taken but Fliskan defenses protected their Queen under the leadership of General Nauvarke. She then marries him and bore his son, Galabrus. When he died in battle, the Queen marries Prince Danaviel of Planet Piadrasc who became her lifelong companion and had Princess Kyre.

As a queen, she was strict and stern and most of her closest companions would say that she is moody and irrational at times. This is because of the pressure to do better as she is the daughter of a great Fliskan Queen. She also struggled with the loss of her first husband and mother.

Lematya, Duchess of Craiine

Her birth name is Zenvien Morica and was the daughter of a Fliskan scientist, Dr. Harva Morica and his wife, the famed psychologist Calrante Fielle. Shortly after Zenvien was born, her father accepted a job offer as a researcher in the polar regions of Craiine. Not for long, Calrante died of a terminal disease and so the young Zenvien had to move to Craiine with her father. She eventually becomes a scientist who continues her father's research when he retired from service.

As she assumes his position, she was introduced to the royal family of Craiine who was funding the research program. As she received her father's endorsements, the Duke of Craiine, Prince Hendaris, introduces his son, Ocvon, as the one who will supervise the project. 

Zenvien and Ocvon worked together until they became secret lovers. When their relationship was discovered, Duke Hendaris stopped the research and sent all the staff back to Fliska. On their journey, the team was attacked and kidnapped by space pirates.

Ocvon found ways to rescue Zenvien and her team. After the daring rescue, they were sent to the best medical treatment facilities. Ocvon then confronted his father about dismissing Zenvien and her work. The Duke and his wife expressed their disapproval of Zenvien as a possible royal bride but Ocvon fought for her.

He also found one of his closest friends, a baroness named Lady Leonina, who lost her daughter a few years back and was left alone. He then persuades the lady to adopt Zenvien. As the adoption proceeded, Zenvien takes the name of her daughter, Lematya, and becomes her full heiress. Now, she is part of the Craiinian nobility, Lematya becomes a suitable royal bride for the future duke. By request of the new Lady Lematya, Dr Harva Morica moves into the baroness' estate as her companion. 

Lematya then weds Ocvon in a traditional Craiinian ceremony and was presented to the Queen of Fliska and her heirs. She continued her work even as Ocvon became Duke of Craiine but had to retire due to delicate pregnancy.

She had three children with Ocvon namely Zedon, Zyric and Zora.
