Chapter 4: Fighting On Adrenaline!

Frost Star's Personal Observation:

To say that I was disappointed that my...dad, The Flash, had been so easily taken down by a bullet by one of my goons was, needless to say, would be both laughable and an understatement. I mean a bullet? Then again, I wasn't going to complain too much, because I knew that the bullet wouldn't kill him, just...slow him down for a time. The bullets were something of a creation of mine: a mixture of my ice powers to and a special chemical that has no name to it that was designed to weaken and slow down Speedsters.

It also could affect myself, unfortunately, as I had found out from personal experience on my Earth. I knew for a fact that Flash would survive this ordeal, though his friends wouldn't know that at first. Though I had to admit, my goons approach to taking down Flash and his choice of attack was...questionable at best. During a night out with...her and Vibe? Even I would have chosen a different time to strike instead of out in the open. Then again, my methods were a lot different to the average gun wielding thug, which essentially was what my first goon was.

"Personally I found last nights attack sloppy." I heard behind me, causing me to turn around and see my most trusted ally standing behind me leaning against the wall in my cold room. It was strange that we were so in sink with each other at times. If if weren't for the fact that I was a cold-hearted person, no pun intended, then I'd probably allow myself to feel something there. But hey, we can't all be good guys now can we...

"Agreed. Although the intended effect seems to have worked. But then again...we never can expect perfection from our little gunslinger can we?" I said in response to the statement as I walked deeper into the room, enjoying the arctic cold air nip at me, sustain me, and empower me. "You know it won't keep him down forever, so what was the plan for this?" I chuckled a little amused at the question "The point of this was to test the waters with Flash, to see his strengths and weaknesses...and to send a message to him. A message that I can take what is most essential to him, his speed, and steal it away from him if I ever need to! He's not invincible, and he's seen that even the weakest among my followers can take him down."

My words seemed to have the intended result, answer wise, as my ally merely nodded and said whilst leaving the room "I hope you know what you're doing by showing him this...flaw already." If it had been anyone other than that person speaking to me, they would have either felt the sharp sting of an icicle in their heart, or the swift, quick death of a phasing hand through them, but even I couldn't fault her words. I entered deeper into the room as I said to myself alone "I hope so too..."

End of pov.:

Currently at S.T.A.R. Labs right now: Barry was laying uncomfortably on the stretcher bed stitched up and unconscious in an uncomfortable and restless state, with only Caitlin standing next to him checking up on him every few minutes to make sure his condition didn't worsen and that the wound didn't re-open. The last few hours since he had been shot had been, by far, one of the scariest times in her life. Not because she had to do surgery on Barry to remove something from within him, as she had done that on a number of occasions since he had become The Flash...but because his speed powers weren't responding and his body was not healing fast at the time.

She had not been in such a situation since the time Barry's speed was stolen from him years ago not long after getting them. But even that day seemed tame compared to this time. Barry had been shot right in front of her and he hadn't been able to stop it, and his powers had been stolen from him in the same moment by a bullet that she had never seen before, that nobody had ever seen before in S.T.A.R. Labs or in CCPD. Thankfully, Nora had arrived on the seen not too long after Barry had been shot and had got them all back to the Cortex quickly so Caitlin could immediately operate.

That was when things got complicated...Barry lost a lot of blood, and had been awake for most of the time she had been operating on him. She had managed to remove the bullet from him and seal the wound whilst keeping him alive...but due to the extensive loss of blood, Barry had had to have a blood transfusion and a lot of blood packs of the same blood type attached to him too. Nora was the only one that was the same blood type as Barry that they knew of, or that Nora knew of, so she had to be the one involved in the blood transfusion. Thankfully everything was successful so far, and Barry was stable...but he was far from peaceful, and Nora was asleep in one of the spare rooms right now.

Caitlin looked down at Barry distraught and worried right now that she could barely think straight, and although she tried not to show it in front of Nora...Barry's latest brush with death had shook her up and caused her to cry a lot after the operation. She had already lost a lot in her life, and her nearly losing Barry had been the tip of the iceberg. She had called the others to let them know, but Iris hadn't picked up the phone at the time whilst Joe had and said he would be right over with Iris. That was 10 minutes ago, but she guessed that it took time to wake up Iris.

Cisco soon came in, sun glasses on and a bag of ice quite literally strapped to his head as he walked over and asked with a sickly and croaky voice, no doubt from the after effects of the handover he was having "Is he okay?" Caitlin barely acknowledged Cisco on this instance, but nodded slowly. Cisco noticed this and gently placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze for comfort. "This isn't your fault Caitlin. If anything...it should be mine for getting you to ask him to come with us..." That caused Caitlin to look at him, and he could see that her eyes were red from crying and she was trying to fight back more currently as well.

"He got shot because of me, Cisco...if Barry had died, it would have been my fault because I wasn't quick enough to warn him!" she protested, causing Cisco's headache to worsen and for Cisco to hold his free hand out before saying "Cait, first off that was a poor use of the words "quick enough" regarding Barry..." the joke didn't seem to amuse Caitlin on this occasion "...and second, nothing could have prevented that from happening. Even Barry wasn't fast enough to react to it...and that's saying something. Whoever it was got the jump on us all and it's nobodies fault at all." He could tell that Caitlin wasn't convinced still as she glanced to Barry with tear stained eyes.

"If it had been one of us that had taken the hit, you especially, how do you think Barry would feel Caitlin? He'd have felt 10 times worse for that happening because he would have been unable to stop it in time. And even if he could have stopped it, he'd have still taken all the blame on himself, just as we know he is going to do when he wakes up because that's the kind of person he is. He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, in his case literally, and yet we're always there for him because we know without us, without him, we'd all be lost in some way." Caitlin was surprised that Cisco was trying to be the voice of reason on this, even if his point made little sense at the time, sure it made sense on the subject of Barry as a person but not so much in terms of relevance to who was to blame for Barry's injury.

"Barry has come back from things that most people never would want to dream of in their wildest nightmares, and we've always been there for him to keep him sane...well, okay, as close to sane as possible with us." That made Caitlin laugh a little bit. "Don't blame yourself for this. If anything, blame the one who tried to kill our best mate." Caitlin slowly nodded a bit as she looked down at Barry, slowly taking one of his hands in hers as if on instinct alone, a feat that does not go unnoticed by Cisco but at this point she does not care.

Cisco smiled a bit before saying as he walks off "You need to tell him at some point...better to tell and know how you guys will stand then never tell and regret it for the rest of your life." Caitlin was surprised by that, but Cisco was already out of the cortex before she could question him. She also didn't have much time to think on it either as she heard Barry groaning in pain, causing her to turn to look at him, seeing Barry shifting uncomfortably on the bed, his face a mixture of torment and pain, his hands clenching onto the bed repeatedly. Now she was really worried about him, and she tried to wake him up gently but frantically. "Barry! Barry, wake up! It's me Caitlin!"

Mentioning her name seemed to do the trick, as Barry immediately awoke from his quite obvious traumatic sleep with a huge gasp for air, his green eyes looking around the room frantically as he looked around the room, sitting up too fast and causing him to grimace in agony from where he had been shot. Even if his body was healing, he was still in a fragile state health wise. Caitlin immediately went over to Barry and placed her hands on him gently as she tried to calm him down. Cisco came running in seeing what was going on. "Barry! Barry, calm down! It's okay, you're at S.T.A.R. Labs!"

He looked to Caitlin at hearing her voice, and upon seeing her he slowly began to calm down a little. "Wh-What happened...?" He asked, panic in his voice at not knowing what was going on. "You...you were shot, by who we don't know. Whatever the shooter used, it...prevented your powers from healing you quickly. If it hadn't been for Nora getting us here quickly you could have..." she couldn't finish her words, and both Barry and Cisco could see why, as she had been trying to hold in tears of fear and worry back...and now they were threatening to spill out. Barry slowly pulled her into a hug, though if it was to help her or him, or both, was hard to tell.

"I'm sorry...I made you guys worry..." Barry spoke softly, his words tugging at Caitlin's heart. Even in an event that shouldn't have been his fault, and wasn't as Cisco would continue to protest, he took blame regardless just for worrying his friends. Caitlin smiled a little inwardly, truly he still was the heart of gold kind of person that she had met years ago, not that she ever doubted it anyway. The moment was ruined however moments later when they heard Iris shouting out Barry's name from the corridor, causing Caitlin to reluctantly yet quickly break from the hug. She might not have been happy about it, but Barry wasn't hers, Iris was sadly, and she would never force Barry to choose between the two of them, something telling her that he would have picked Iris over her anyway.

Iris soon came into the cortex alongside Joe, and both saw Barry sitting up on the stretcher bed, bandaged up and everything. Joe was the first to go over to Barry, pulling him into a hug that was a little too rough as Barry grimaced at that, Joe saying "You had us worried you idiot..." He meant it in a protective way, as Barry knew at the time, but the words still struck a blow with him in his heart for making everyone worry about him. Iris's approach was a lot less subtle or kind, even if she wasn't in the best frame of minds at the time.

Barry wasn't prepared for what Iris did when Joe parted from the hug, as Iris walked over and slapped him hard across the face, shocking both Barry and Caitlin at the time, Caitlin because she didn't think Iris would do that after Barry had nearly been killed...then again, she didn't know her as much as she would admit, not that Iris gave her much reason to at times. Iris soon said angry "What were you thinking, getting yourself shot last night!? You could have gotten yourself killed!" she practically shouted. Even Joe didn't seem to like this part of Iris, as his face showed that he didn't agree with her actions.

The worst part was that Barry was in no condition to get away from Iris's anger, and seemed rather...scared of doing so, as if Iris had him beaten down like a kicked puppy. It made her wonder if this is a reason Barry had been so different around them when Iris was in the room, sure he loved Iris, that part nobody doubted at times...but was he also fearful and being controlled by her too? Before Iris could continue however, Cisco soon entered the room and said "I've analyzed the bullet that was used against Barry." This caused everyone to turn and look at Cisco, and both Caitlin and Joe were personally glad that Cisco had interrupted when he did.

Cisco used his pad to pull up the analyze onto the screen in the medical room, showing the design of the bullet as he explained "So I tested the bullet to see if it had been modified or if it was in the CCPD's systems database, or quite frankly any database that involved a bullet. And both the design and in fact the bullet itself isn't listed on any database known to man, almost like it's not supposed to exist or something." Barry slowly says after a bit "So...it could mean that Frost Star could have brought the bullets when he arrived here..." That sent a shiver down Barry's spine, and made Caitlin and Cisco rather fearful at that prospect.

"There's more." Cisco said as he continued, bringing up something else showing the inner contents of the bullet, soon saying "The bullets had some special kind of liquidized substance that was cold to the touch when I was examining it. Now I'm not an expert when it comes to this kind of thing, but whatever this was it was designed to combat speedsters like Barry, and was clearly meant to freeze whoever was shot from speeding up or from using any of their powers. In Barry's case..." "It cancelled out his speed and stopped him from healing fast..." Caitlin finished, knowing already were he was going with this.

Joe soon asked as he looked between the two scientists "So, how can we find a way to stop this shooter? Or prevent the bullet from affecting or killing Barry?" Cisco says to that "That's the thing: I don't think the bullet was designed to kill Barry, just to slow him down. I think if it was meant to kill him, even Nora couldn't have gotten Barry here quick enough to save him...not even me..." Although it was meant to be good news, it didn't get taken as such as the uneasiness from everyone else told him. "We could try to create a serum to help counteract the bullet. But it will be useless if the bullets used this time are meant to kill this time." Cisco said, Caitlin soon saying "We can get on with that right away, but we still need Barry to remain here for another day at the least to recover."

Cisco knew that Caitlin was merely thinking of Barry's health and safety in this case, not that he'd stay there for long if the shooter came back, though he was concerned that Iris would say otherwise. Joe soon said however "Well be back to check on him later then. Let you guys do your thing." before both Joe and Iris headed off. When they were out of the cortex and S.T.A.R. Labs, Caitlin asked Barry comfortingly "Are you okay? Iris shouldn't have done that." Barry slowly shook his head, closing his eyes briefly before saying in a depressed tone "I'll be fine...I'm used to it..."

That shocked his best friends, and made them worry. In a matter of minutes, or hours if you include the shooting incident, the fun loving and caring Barry that they had seen and been with during their night out had been replaced with an unhappy and broken Barry, and they felt almost powerless about it. Caitlin gently placed a hand on Barry's shoulder, giving Cisco an idea that he should leave them be, which he did, before she said slowly with a look of worry on her face "Barry, you know that none of what happened is your fault? If anything...it should be mine for not seeing the shooter fast enough..."

Barry slowly placed a hand on hers and stopped her in her tracks saying "It's not your fault, Cait...It never was. And it's not Cisco's fault either for asking you to ask me out with you guys." Ordinarily that last part would not have made sense to anyone probably, but Caitlin understood and smiled a little, though it was a guilt ridden and sad one still. Barry looked and gently squeezed her hand on his shoulder before saying softly "I promise you, Cait: you won't lose me that easily, none of you will. And...despite what the others might say, I would never place any of the blame on your shoulders or anyone's. Iris, Joe, even Nora now: they may be my family, but so are you guys who help me fight crime and save the world no matter what, who help patch me up or knock some sense into me whenever I need it knocked into me...you mean the world to me, you all do, and I'm forever grateful about that."

Cait had to try and forcibly restrain herself from tearing up again at his heartfelt words, but she smiled happily at those words none-the-less. It made her feel happy that Barry held her, Cisco, Ralph and hell, whatever versions of Harrison Well they worked with in such high esteem even more so then his own family, if not at the same value. And it especially made her smile that underneath all the turmoil, all of what they had been through, and despite all the bad stuff that had happened in recent years since he became The Flash: he was still the Barry Allen that she and everyone knew and loved, be it romantically or otherwise.

Caitlin gently moved his hand down to his side gently smiling as she said slowly yet in her doctor-like manner "Get some rest, Mr. Allen. We'll wake you up if anything happens." that brought a slight laugh out of Barry and he did as she asked, slowly falling back to sleep on the bed. Caitlin stayed with him for a little bit just to make sure he slept okay, before soon heading back out to work on something to help counter the bullets alongside Cisco. Cisco fondly referred to the bullets as "Ice Bullets", for whatever reason that she didn't want to know at this time. God knows whatever nickname he'd come up for the one who shot the bullet at Barry.

It took them longer than they would have liked to admit in making something to counteract the effects of the "Ice Bullets", and even then both Caitlin and Cisco knew that it would only be a temporary solution providing that it worked properly. Though they hoped that Barry would not need to use it. Caitlin was the first to notice that Nora had arrived in the Cortex not long after they finished, and she saw the young speedster looking towards where her father was sleeping. Caitlin and Cisco both felt sorry for Nora: she hadn't been with the team for that long, and she hadn't known Barry face-to-face all that long either, but they both understood in more ways than one that Nora was hurting at seeing her dad in the state he was in.

She had already lost her dad once before she got a chance to know Barry, and now if they weren't careful, there was a chance that she'd lose him again before she was born...provided that Frost Star wouldn't end up changing the timelines to the point that Nora wouldn't be born. Contrary to what the others may be thinking, she actually really liked Nora: she was really friendly towards her and Cisco and she was more-or-less the younger female version of her speedster dad. Caitlin walked over to Nora slowly, and it seemed that Nora could tell that she was there as she smiled weakly at the good doctor. No words were exchanged between the two, because both felt that none were needed.

Unfortunately, Barry's sleep, peace and quiet weren't to last: as soon he felt he was being gently nudged by familiar hands, Caitlin's, as he heard her shouts out "Barry! Barry wake up!" Barry began to wake up with a pained groan, even if he was in less pain then he was not too long ago, barely able to stand and walk well without grabbing his side, much to the concern of Caitlin, Nora and Cisco. Nora went over to her father to try to help him move, but he still struggled. It appeared as if the injuries would need more time to heal...it was a shame that that was not an opinion right now...

"What's...going on?" He managed to groan out, trying his best to fight back the pain in front of his friends. Caitlin and Cisco looked at each other concerned before Cisco said "We've located the shooter. It's as if he's not even trying to hide now." Barry grimaced as he stumbled a little, Caitlin went to his side worried. "Barry! Are you okay!?" she asked worried, Barry slowly tried to force himself up as he said "I'll be fine...just need something to keep me going...until I can catch him..." Cisco said to that "Barry, we don't have anything to give you an adrenaline boost!" But to their surprise, Barry says to that "No...but you have the counter-agent...to the ice bullet..."

At hearing that, the others gasped in shock, realizing what Barry was suggesting, and Caitlin's rational mind took over as she said frantically "Barry, no! We haven't had time to properly test the serum! It was designed for those bullets, it might not help as an adrenaline boost!" Cisco and Nora both agreed in on her worry, even know Cisco knew that it was, practically, an adrenaline boost for the cold bullets. Barry soon said slowly as he looked to Caitlin with pained eyes "I need to try..."

Caitlin was really reluctant at this, but she knew that there was rarely anyway of convincing Barry otherwise when his mind was set in place. She got the serum for the cold bullet and soon says to him "This will hurt, a lot." Barry just nodded before Caitlin injected it into his neck, sending the serum into his bloodstream, and causing Barry to wail out in pain a bit from the needle entering his neck. Soon he felt the serum taking quick effect in his body...and it was certainly tied with the worst pain he had ever felt by far. It felt like his body was breaking apart then repairing itself a thousand times over, each time with increasing pain...and unfortunately...it showed!

"Barry!" Caitlin and Cisco said simultaneously, Cisco running to his best friends side as well as his Speedster friend collapsed to the ground and his body convulsed in spasms of pain. "Dad!" Nora shouted even more panicked, clinging onto her dads hand as she was forced to watch what was happening...then Barry's eyes flew open and his eyes changed from their regular color to that of lightning bolts before suddenly Barry sped off out the building at high-speed, to the complete disbelief and surprise of Nora, Caitlin and Cisco.

Cisco brought up the screen as he ran to the console, and saw that Barry was running towards where the shooter was at a speed that he hadn't gone before. Naturally the others were surprised by that, but they were also extremely worried as well given Barry's condition too. None of them knew however that Barry felt even worse then he already had before he had taken the antidote: it had worked as an adrenaline booster of sorts, and it allowed him to use his powers more freely now and at a greater speed then he had gone before...but there in itself lay the problem...or more accurately, and additional problem...

What nobody had taken into account when developing the antidote to his shooters gun may have temporarily allowed his body to resist the Ice Bullets effects for a few hours...but it had also caused him to feel constant and unrelenting pain that would have driven any normal person insane. Barry may not have been any normal person, naturally, but he felt like his brain was being constantly swarmed and attacked by thousands of Hornets, and his body felt even worse. How he was willing himself on and able to move through his potentially mind-breaking pain is anybodies guess, if they could see him now.

"Barry!? Barry can you hear me?" Caitlin called on the earpiece built into his suit, but the response they got instead made the three in S.T.A.R. Labs worry more as all they heard was pained groans and pants from Barry. Cisco brought up Barry's body stats...and it was shocking by what they saw. His bodies pain levels were off the chart, and apparently his body was sweating like mad. His heart was beating way too fast to be considered healthy as well, which only made their worry increase further.

"Dad!" Nora shouted worried, trying to get his attention as she tried to not cry at how much pain her father was in, with little success, as either the pain that he was in was preventing him from hearing the other three or he was not answering because he couldn't. Barry soon arrived at where the shooter was: which turned out to be an abandoned warehouse of sorts near the docks, which didn't seem to surprise the scarlet speedster given some villains seemed to use the warehouses for whatever the reason.

Upon arriving however, he leaned against a nearby wall and grimaced in agony, instinctively placing an arm around where he was shot, even though the pain was shooting throughout his entire body not just there, and he failed to hide it...which unfortunately someone picked up from above in the rafters.

"Well, well, well. Seems my bullets can do more damage than I had thought! Glad to hear it, now I can use this against that brat of a boss when I'm done with this loser!" The shooter said to himself. Though he didn't realize yet that he had said those words too loudly and that a certain Scarlet Speedster down below heard it, albeit barely...and he wasn't the only one who heard it...

Barry managed to fight off the pain long enough to formulate a plan in his head, and to trick the shooter into believing he had a free target, which the shooter foolishly fell for, and Barry knew it, partly because he saw his shadow moving, and also because he heard Cisco, Caitlin and Nora shouting in his ears as well. Barry then sped off just before the shooter could fire, this time managing to move away just in time before the shooter could repeat what he did the night prior, and the bullet instead got stuck within the wall that Barry was standing next to!

Barry then sped up as fast as his body allowed him to up to where the shooter was, and before the shooter could turn enough to shoot at Barry again: Barry tackled the shooter down to the ground and began delivering punch after punch into the shooters face, busting him open at least twice in different places on his face! Unfortunately, Barry, in his adrenaline and pain fueled frenzy, had forgotten that the shooter was still holding the gun in his hand until the last moment, barely managing to knock the gun away from firing at his head...unfortunately that merely gave the shooter a new target, as the bullet from the shot went into his shoulder instead!

The pain was instant, and caused Barry to grimace and wail in completely agony again and collapse backwards onto the floor off the shooter: the bullet lodging itself within his shoulder immediately as blood began pouring from his shoulder...but this time, he could not feel the effects of the bullet trying to shut down his powers again at all! The true purpose of the Ice Bullet Antidote took immediate effect and not only blocked out the power paralyzing effects of the bullet...but destroyed it in seconds too!

The shooter wasn't aware of it however, and quickly attempted to get back up as he pointed the gun once again at his enemy, The Flash, preparing to fire again...only when he tried to fire, he felt himself being blasted from behind into a nearby wall behind Barry, causing Barry to look towards whoever blasted the shooter...and to his surprise it was Caitlin, standing in front of one of Cisco's portals, wielding the Cold Gun that had just been fired! "Cait...!" Barry barely managed to call out, grimacing immediately as he tried to use his recently shot arm to get back up, which was a major mistake.

Caitlin immediately ran over to Barry, attempting to help him up again as she looked worriedly at the second bullet wound, Barry barely managing to tell her with a nod that he was fine...neither realizing the shooter slowly getting up and attempting to aim his gun at them both as Caitlin helped Barry to his feet...that was until they heard the sound of the shooter wailing in painful agony! The two friends looked at the shooter...and to their shock and surprise, there was an icicle impaled into the hand of the shooter!

"Do you think me a fool for giving you those bullets and that gun? Or did you honestly assume that you had an edge over me and that I didn't hear everything you said!" A familiar voice echoed throughout the room, and before anybody could react to hearing the voice, the owner of said voice appeared instantly and grabbed the shooter in a fierce choke hold by the the neck and dangled him over the edge...and that person was the Frozen Speedster himself, Frost Star!

The shooter wail fearfully, and Frost Star glared at him with a death stare and, before Barry or Caitlin could react, Frost Star let go of the shooter and sent him plummeting down to his death: the shooter landing on his head hard as he died instantly, and even Barry and Caitlin had to look away from the gruesome and, quite frankly, heartless act. Frost Star glared at the now dead shooter with nothing but contempt for him. "What a waste of breath!" He said coldly, before looking at Barry and Caitlin who stood with their mouth agape.

"Don't get used to this 'Flash', this was merely a demonstration of what will happen to those who commit treason against me! And I can assure you this: what I have in store for you and your friends will be far worse!" Caitlin noticed that he passed a brief glance her way before speeding off to wherever he was hiding, and she couldn't help but think he had a look of pain in his eyes...

Frost Star's Personal Observation:

What a waste of a pawn he had been. It gave me no discomfort or displeasure at all at ending his miserable existence for his treachery against me! Traitors deserve nothing more than the dirt and painful death that awaits them, regardless of the reason! It was fortunate that my expectations for that gun for hire was never high. Why I decided to give him a chance is beyond me.

As I raced back to my base, my most trusted adviser soon appeared from the shadows next to me as I smashed my ice-cold fist into a nearby wall, shattering it instantly. "I warned you. And now they have an antidote for the bullets too." my ally said, not in mocking or in an attempt to rile me up, but as an observation. I simply nodded a bit as I looked over. "It won't help them. And I won't make the same mistake again in hiring gunslingers like him."

I began to move to a nearby console as I heard my ally speaking behind me. "You know I wouldn't turn on you, right?" I found myself stopping at that for only the briefest amount of time, before I looked over from the corner of my eyes and responded with sincere truth and trust, something I rarely did if ever now. "Yes...I know you wouldn't. You are one of only 2 I trust." Before I walked off to the console to get back to work, muttering to myself "The clock is ticking, dad...will you survive what is to come I wonder?"

End of pov.:

It had taken a while for the second bullet to be removed from Barry's shoulder and for Caitlin and Cisco to find something to help with the pain Barry was in, and only now after a number of hours was he sleeping again on the stretcher bed in the lab, the effects of the Ice Bullet Antidote having worn off mercifully, meaning Barry was not in agonizing pain anymore. Nora was currently sleeping on a chair next to where her dad was sleeping, and Caitlin was checking on his vitals to make sure that he was okay now, and that there were no ill effects from the antidote. Thankfully they were not in for anymore scary surprises when it came to the antidote, but they insisted that Barry remain in bed for a while whilst his powers healed his body, which he agreed to without putting up a fight thankfully.

"Hey, how is he?" Caitlin heard Cisco say as she entered the Cortex again. "He'll be fine. I think we're lucky the bullet went into his shoulder then his head...thankfully..." Her voice sounded pained and tired with that last part, but Cisco decided not to press on it this time as she probably didn't need him teasing her right now. He simply smiled to his friend and responded "I'll keep an eye on him, you look like you could use some sleep yourself. Go get some sleep." She nodded her head a little bit as she decided against arguing with Cisco, before saying with a yawn. "Wake me up as soon as he does. Got it?" Cisco nodded to that with a small laugh before she went to go lay down in one of the spare bedrooms in S.T.A.R. Labs. When Caitlin was gone however, Cisco's face turned into a look of concern as he looked down at the screen in front of him.

On the screen was the DNA results that they had done on Frost Star when he had arrived. They already knew that Barry, or more specifically Savitar, was the Frozen Speedsters biological father...but the final results had come in on who the mother of Frost Star was mere minutes ago...and what he had seen had made him concerned and made him swear to himself not to tell either Barry, Caitlin or anyone else of Team Flash...because the results had shown that Frost Star's mum...was none other than Caitlin herself! Or more specifically Killer Frost! Frost Star was Killer Frosts son!
